  1. I don't think I've seen a more awkward looking centre half since Jerel Ifil.
  2. Now I've seen the replay I think it is a pen, but MacKenzie goes down in a way that makes it look like a dive. VAR should see it though.
  3. You can quite easily see us getting a result here, but equally you know that if we play exactly the same way in Greece we're going to get annihilated.
  4. That was worse than getting beaten by 20 like I expected. The scrum completely changed the game in the second half, Sinckler in particular getting a bit of a roasting. Although I did think the penalty that won the game should have gone the other way. The ref gave it purely on vibes instead of looking what was actually happening. Still, the main thing for me is that, despite us being awful for about 2 years, and them having their best team ever, we still got further than the Irish.
  5. Incredible game. We are going to get an absolute pasting next weekend.
  6. Have I missed a rule change on back chat to the ref? The boks constantly doing it.
  7. The speed both teams are going at is unreal.
  8. I don't know if it's been mentioned earlier in the thread and I've missed it, but does anyone know what Besuijen has done to get so completely ostracised?
  9. I remember how the prevailing view on the 2015 Women's World Cup thread was that the women should know their place and giving any coverage to the event at all was PC gone mad.
  10. So depressing. I wonder who these people could be? Anyway, on a completely unrelated note:
  11. I think I said this at the time, but I can't think of any examples of a caretaker doing well, getting the job permanently, and then actually being good.
  12. As an England fan, the booing of the anthems is one of my favourite parts of these games, I hope it never changes.
  13. Went to a Palace game last season and Eze is honestly the most graceful footballer I've ever seen in the flesh. He's amazing to watch. Glides past people like he's not even trying.
  14. That was great fun but that was an outrageous refereeing performance. How can you give away penalty after penalty 5 metres out with no sanction? Wales were offside at basically every ruck in the final 6 minutes and were constantly time wasting but nothing happens. Must be sickening for Fiji.
  15. The hill I will die on is that he should have been our main striker during the McInnes years.
  16. If we had qualified for the Europa League playing like that, we'd be looking at 6 absolute pastings. We have the players in midfield to play with more control, it's baffling that we don't want to do it, even as a plan B. There's a place for up and at 'em football but not all the time, and definitely not when it doesn't play to the strengths of your best players.
  17. Shinnie is reminding me of late stage Scott Severin. Wants to be the superman box to box midfielder, but his body is clearly slowing down.
  18. Playing like this, we'd concede about 8 every game in the Europa anyway.
  19. Playing the way Robson sets us up, we really have to score first or we have to do so much running and leave enormous gaps chasing the game. It's times like this that you might question the wisdom of completely freezing out one of our most talented attacking players (Besuijen).
  20. I mean, I'm glad no action is being taken, but what Devlin did there is incredibly dangerous.
  21. Scales isn't the new Maldini but he does have a skillset that's not easy to find. We might pick up a left sided, ball playing centre halve who is as good as Scales and will slot into our team for less than £750k, but it would be a big gamble. If Celtic are genuinely willing to sell for that figure, I would just pay it and move on tbh.
  22. This seemed quite prophetic from 6 months ago. Similar to the famous Arthur Harris quote: The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. At Rotterdam, London, Warsaw, and half a hundred other places, they put their rather naive theory into operation. They sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind.
  23. Flashbacks to when the papers said we were after a 'World Cup star' and it turned out to be Rory Fallon.
