  1. Which is a very polite way of saying 'get Broadfoot out of the team' . He is a total liability. O'Connor/Baird were in the main excellent for us last season. A good right back sorts it. Power is definitely an upgrade in midfield. The young lad Keay albeit based on only a few minutes at the end yesterday looked as if he might have a bit to offer in the future.
  2. £235000 from the Rangers game. Should be enough from even half of that to get in the players we need if they become available. I imagine Dougie will already have identified who he wants.
  3. Great to see Jack Baird in the squad today albeit starting on the bench.
  4. It was a long time ago and in my memory it was Joe Caven and I can't change that now. However Joe Mason was also a fantastic player for us. Joe Caven was our number 9 and McGraw number 10. Of that I am absolutely certain.
  5. He was indeed one of Morton's very best and a really nice man. I saw most, possibly all of the games he played at Cappielow although my memory of him is wearing the number 9 shirt. He scored what I still remember as the best individual goal I have ever seen against Raith Rovers. The ball bounced behind him and with Bolton the Raith centre half tight against him he back heeled it over both of them and then caught it on the volley and absolutely smashed it into the net. I was behind the goals at the Wee Dublin End and the place went wild. Adamson, Stevenson, Caven, McGraw and Wilson a fantastic front five.
  6. Probably, but will the words be 'well done' or 'cut it out'?
  7. Karma wouldn't be needed if we had decent refereeing.
  8. Me too EW for a top 3 finish (quarter the odds) .
  9. Of course with the wing back role there is no reason why he should not still take full advantage of his attacking threat. Indeed that is now what separates the decent full back from the outstanding ones.
  10. I usually am but wasn't there today so for those who were, from what Dougie, and others have said Lewis McGrattan was very good today. Have we unearthed our new right back?
  11. I wonder when last a senior football team played in a non friendly match and used all of the match day squad as we did today with each of the three listed substitutes used. Remarkable and in spite of adversity a great start to the season.
  12. I'm not sure many of us are celebrating, but as a community owned club with aspirations to get into the Premier League the additional funds could make a huge difference to our chances by funding a couple of players. Of course progress in the Cup would be preferable and is still possible. The correlation between how much money a club can raise and how successful they are is not absolute but generally applies.
  13. Fantastic manager and a great time to be following Morton. Hal Stewart.........Benny Rooney...........Dougie Imrie?????
  14. I'm not sure what biased view makes you think that Stirling v Aberdeen will be more of a contest or more attractive to watch than Rangers v the Mighty Morton.
  15. All of which is true of course but as always the 'if' factor is the problem.
  16. I'd always prefer a winnable home tie, but if the odds are stacked against it's at least some consolation to get a good payday..........and as Dougie's 2013 penalty at Parkhead proved......never say never!
  17. From a financial point of view a great draw for Morton. From a progression point of view ......who knows?
  18. Interesting in Dougie's pre match interview for today he was equivocal about the length of time Jack Baird will be out. Nothing certain but hopefully back a lot sooner than was first expected. We can but hope.
  19. Although it is not posted on the Morton website there is a pre match interview with Dougie Imrie available: https://t.co/bZYqzDJ7kW
  20. Many managers, some from the very top clubs have played the 'I'm unhappy with the budget card' so it is understandable that fledgling managers will do the same. However after last season Dougie Imrie's reputation is on the up and how he manages this season will indubitably be significant as to his future prospects. We can speculate endlessly about what might or might not have happened last season. He is with us and under contract and if he wants a successful career in football management he needs to match or improve on last season. I'm sure he knows that!
  21. He did the post match yesterday . Generally positive and upbeat but giving is the news we didn't want that Jack Baird is out for two months. He said what we all know, that we need someone in pronto.
  22. Some students have got a PhD for a less well presented argument.
