  1. The white strip made its first appearance in 1965, over 50 years ago.
  2. Whatever ones opinion of the Sun, their football coverage, particularly that of the lower leagues, knocks the Herald into a cocked hat. The good thing for me is that I get a free look at it before it's sold. I wouldn't want anyone to think that I buy it!
  3. Post on Pie and Bovril puts pressure on board? I think not.....
  4. There's one thing to consider. Gilbert Lawrie was instrumental/decisive in the last four managerial appointments, each of which was inspired. This may be a test of the board's skill in these matters
  5. He's in a bit of a mental state right enough! Not as mental as Calum Davidson would be though...........
  6. I notice from Facebook that the OS webmaster may be away from his desk presently.
  7. I think inside knowledge would be needed on Barry Robson before a punt was taken. One slight safeguard these days is the requirement for coaches/managers to have the correct badges to operate. I'm not sure on Darren Young. I have the feeling his step up may be above us as he has served a decent apprenticeship. He'll be a guy with ambition for sure. I had some fun looking here http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/trainer/verfuegbaretrainer/statistik/?statistik=190&plus=0 Mind you, Willie Ormond is on that list!
  8. If Raith hadn't made an approach then there would have been a denial on the DFC website pronto. The story in the Sun wasn't just that they had made an approach but that the request had been granted. If it's a Willie Cochrane story it'll be right enough. The Sun tends to keep the non gospel stories for rather bigger issues than this.
  9. I think we can pretty much resign ourselves to Aitken leaving. Like others, I'm not particularly bothered by that, but the timing is terrible. We should move quickly and I wouldn't be averse to an experienced manager. Jim McInally might not be the worst shout.
  10. We were 2-0 up in that Thistle game IIRC. Paul Martin's last day in charge. A frightener that teams like Forfar or ourselves could ever be in that position again with the consequence of relegation. Only nine years ago when you think about it.
  11. The last two penalties in the match taken by players who were signed to us at the start of the season. Gibson had a decent game. Looking at that tremendous turnout, we could be up against it next season.
  12. One bad season does it for League two sides...
  13. With today's rather sad news about East Stirlingshire, I wonder if younger supporters will know anything of the time they 'amalgamated' with Clydebank? http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/teams/east-stirlingshire/who-remembers-es-clydebank-1-2476933
  14. The mention of Arbroath made me check just where our rivals for promotion four years ago, to the then first division now the Championship, are just now. But for an amazing display from Stephen Grindlay at Gayfield in the play off semi-final, I wonder where we might have been today......
  15. I've just had a look at the comments on Facebook. In less sophisticated times such sentiments would have been expressed in an anonymous letter, written in green biro.
  16. Ayr Utd must be the most consistent under performers in Scottish football in the last 30 years.
  17. Which had me thinking about the first line in this song by Talking Heads (The first place I called home was a roadhouse in Dumbarton Scotland) https://bigrab.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php?item=8454
  18. I miss Willie Gibson at Dumbarton. Not quite sure of the circumstances of his departure, but we lost something when he left.
  19. Thomson has signed https://t.co/GHP15GS67j
  20. There shouldn't be any hard and fast thinking on it. Each case on its merits I'd say.
  21. The best return was surely that of Murdo McLeod no?
