  1. The fact that I can't post links or amusing pictures on t'interweb. (or spell properly)
  2. ^^^ The same for me apart from the very 1st Star Wars film. Also: Never read a Harry Potter book or Lord of the Rings book ('cos they're essentially children's literature) Never taken illegal drugs (alcohol on the other hand I have had plenty) Never watched morning television Never watched any of the Big Brother programmes Never chewed tobacco Never .......... (come to think of it the list could go on for pages)
  3. When I buy 2 Thunderball lucky dips and the Thunderball number is the same on both lines. My frustration obviously subsides if that number happens to be drawn.
  4. I'm not his biggest fan but he is a young player who will hopefully get better with experience. Some supporters seem to excuse poor performances by certain players because they are young (Pickard for example) yet Brownlie does not seem to be afforded the same luxury. I also think we have to be realistic in the type of player we can attract and afford, if the Club is working to a budget, and that will be reflected in their ability.
  5. Tomorrow, 1st of June, is the 100th anniversary of the production of the first pressurised fire extinguisher. The wooden constructed factory that produced it was situated in Ferno, Seattle, USA. Ironically, a week after production started the factory was almost completely destroyed by fire. After a break of 2 months the production re-started in a custom-built brick factory.
  6. I realise that my recent complaint may not be world threatening, it is petty but it annoys me and where better to express it than on this thread. There is another local chippy that I use, only as a last resort, where they serve the queue in order so even if what you want is available they won't serve you 'til you are at the head of the queue. That also annoys me. The chippy to which I originally referred isn't really busy enough to merit numbered service order but they take your order and payment as you come in. The staff then reel off the orders to the "cook" in the order they are taken. If some are ready before others then it is no great problem to let the customer in at the "sauce station" to get it. Anyway I don't want to elevate this beyond my pettiness of the situation so I'll leave it there.
  7. People who don't stand in a proper queue at the chip shop. The usual procedure at the chippy I use is for the front end of the queue to be at the wrapping point of the counter and people lining back along the counter and round the corner (depending on how busy it is). Lately however I have noticed that some people are coming in, placing their order when asked, and then standing away from the counter against the opposite wall.(nothing to do with my personal hygiene I'm sure), other customers then come in and don't know if these people are actually in the queue or just standing back waiting on someone being served, result they either stand at the end of the fragmented queue or go to the end of the queue at the counter, which can cause ill-feeling. I've seen some people almost standing outside when there is plenty of room in the shop because people are not closing up the space in the queue. If we don't queue properly the result is pandemonium. Also, people who don't give the full list of what they want at the one time. The couple in front of me had ordered their fish suppers or whatever and paid for them, which is how it is done in this chippy. When the fish suppers were ready and wrapped they then decided that they wanted bottles of red kola, some pickled onions, various packets of different flavour crisps (which involved them having a discussion as to what flavours) and a carrier bag. They then had to pay for these additional items. They had stood about for five minutes or so waiting on their fish suppers getting cooked and they had ample opportunity to ask for these additional items during that time but that would have been too sensible.
  8. Well it just wouldn't look right if his kilt was tied up with any other colour of tie. One must maintain standards you know.
  9. Connolly certainly had a high turnover in players but he also unearthed a few gems in doing so, Weatherson, Bowie, Atkinson for a start. You sometimes have to dig through a lot of muck to find the odd gem. Even years before the Connolly era we got some great players from the NE of England, such as Alan Ball and Mike Barker. I think every available source should be looked at for the right type of player.
  10. This has all the ingredients of a family sex romp, get some hidden cameras set up to share with your P & B friends.
  11. And the bitch won't return my calls. That's the real reason I dislike him.
  12. Matt Damon. People tell me that he has been in me good films and they may be right, but if I see his name in the leading cast list it seems to put me against watching it.
  13. I sent off for the boxset of "The World at War" . When I watched it I thought the Germans had quite a cosy time in Occupied France. It turned out they had sent me the " 'Allo 'Allo " boxset by mistake.
  14. Spoiler Alert. The ship reaches New York safely and the collision with the iceberg and subsequent sinking was just a dream the captain had in the shower. (He also had a w**k but that's edited out)
  15. You are now officially teuchters. Seriously tho', it is a strange decision and you have every right to feel angry. Couldn't they have used the same geographical positions that they base the Challenge "Petrofac" Cup on? Obviously there are Premiership teams in the League Cup which may make the numbers in the geographical groups a bit difficult to sort out but this decision does seem a bit odd. The "seeding" format has obviously worked against you also.
  16. At least the referee might think twice before booking him. It sound like a name that an avid fan might call their wean when it's christened.
  17. I certainly get the impression that quite few posters will be happy if Skelston fails and they can give it the big "I told you so". He may not be the big name man that would have given us all a lift looking forward to next season but there were no actual big name men seriously linked with the job. Let's at least give him a chance before writing him off, he may just surprise us all.
  18. 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown used to be good as a bit of a novelty but now it is just boring, apart from looking at Rachel obviously. Also Jimmy Carr's laugh gets on my wick.
  19. This ^^^^^ Exactly the same thought occurred to me in Morrison's car park yesterday. People with buggies or shopping trolleys wandering along the middle of the road oblivious to cars round about them.
  20. From Daily Record: OH BULLOCKS Bullock causes chaos after escaping from Dumfries Market and rampaging through Town Centre. (maybe more like 3/4 of a mile from town centre) Unable to post link (over to you Stu)
  21. Jazz music. Not the Acker Bilk or Kenny Ball type but that so-called modern jazz that they seem to make up as they go along. A friend had on the Young Jazz Musician of the Year programme on TV on Friday night, excellent musicians I agree, but the music was making my ears bleed. This friend also has albums by Thelonius Monk,? Charlie Parker and others which she often plays, if it wasn't for the fact she feeds me and gives me beer I would acquaint her pie with my boot, plus she is a bit scary with a drink in her. The winner of the Young Jazz Musician was a young lady playing the trumpet and she looked like she could give it a good blow (wink, wink.)
  22. Apologies if my post inferred that you were berating the Commercial Dep't, I was stating my own view that it would be harsh to berate them if they have done everything possible to make it happen. I don't know who came up with the line-up for this concert but obviously someone thought it would work. I wonder if the Commercial Department were being guided or advised by a Promotion Company who would arrange for the acts to appear? The final say of course would be with the Club as they will have to deal with any fallout if anything goes wrong.
  23. I had heard (not from any official source) that the club made enquiries with a lot of local organisations to see if anything was on that would clash with the date of the concert and at that time no other events were known to be taking place. I don't know if the Rugby Club were asked or if the date of the Beer Festival was decided after Queens had started the ball rolling with the concert, which was probably right after the Quo concert. I would hope that the organisers would have done some research to gauge the attraction of the acts before advertising the event. I wouldn't berate the Commercial Dep't for trying things like pop concerts (a lot of clubs do it) but sadly in this instance it hasn't worked out.
