  1. The OF get most of the hype, most of the press, most of the coverage and most of the TV money. They have won every league title since 1985 (and that includes Rangers post-liquidation time outside of the top flight) and most other trophies besides. With these two clubs sucking so much oxygen out of the SPFL, why do they need yet another advantage? Youth development my arse. Shafting the other 40 teams and making the difference bewteen the OF and the rest bigger is what this is about.
  2. On older people, talking to my folks about their views and their friends views, there is a bit of internal conflict there. They want things opened up and society back to normal again - the devastation to their social life has been enormous. My folks were very active, out most nights with various clubs, hobbies and the like. They want that back. At the same time there is a reluctance to dive back in. They are, let's be honest, the most vulnerable group and have spent over a year being told to stay hidden away or they could potentially die. It isn't as black and white as some folk are making out - they want things back but are nervous about it.
  3. I forget which one, but a couple of races ago Hamilton was in the lead towards the end and there was a discussion with the pit wall about if he should come in, fit new tyres and try to get fastest lap. He had the time to do it, but chose not to because it was too big a risk.
  4. There is more DNA in a bucket of seawater than there is in the human body.
  5. Yep. 2001 and 2002 were walkovers for Schumacher. He won the title in July 2002, so they brought in the rank rotten 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 system designed for 2003 to stop a driver running away with the title. In the end it just made the leading driver harder to catch. Didn't stop Schumacher anyway.
  6. You're right. Indeed, I was looking at the points table incorrectly. But for me, the principle is that the team that produced the winning car should come away with the most points. @IainMorton is right that it's a bit better than the old system, but I liked the one before that (10, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1). Winning a point was a huge deal in those days. Now the top 10 get points and there was a proper gap between winning and being runner up.
  7. Shakin' Stevens is a bit of a left-field shout, but fair enough. Couldn't do any worse than Hancock at health.
  8. Level 2 = no soft play areas. Level 1 = bukkake parties.
  9. Same again next week, at the Red Bull Ring. Neither Verstappen nor Hamilton put a foot wrong. Red Bull was just...faster. Still not a fan of this points system. It doesn't reward winning enough. Mercedes closed the gap to Red Bull in the constructors championship despite finishing a big chunk behind.
  10. If my old man is still here when he's 100, he's getting forced into a sponsored walk. Really fancy tickets to the Grand Prix.
  11. Of course, there is the 70's sister group Fanny. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imZUqkPlUaQ
  12. I knew a girl once who called herself a "demi-veg". She ate chicken and fish but no red meat.
  13. The real victim in this is the woman's husband. Imagine being told your wife is having an affair. Then, the affair is going to be in the news so you can't even deal with, or discuss, it privately. Finally, you're told that your wife has been shagging Matt Hancock of all people.
  14. Cancelled - the guy doing my "induction" is self isolating.
  15. My sister (double dosed) tested positive at the weekend. There is an issue with expectations and the vaccines. Some folk think it means you must be 100% safe if you have it, you can't catch it, get ill from it and you can't die from it. Nonsense of course - it just reduces your chances of these things by about 95%. Doesn't stop the newspapers churning out fear with headlines like "Senga, aged 66, dies from Covid AFTER being vaccinated" with pictures of Senga holding a baby. I read an interesting statistic at the weekend - a double vaccinated 80 year old has the same chance of dying from covid as an unvaccinated 50 year old as age is still the determining factor.
  16. Wolf Creek 3 (movie, not a new series) confirmed for 2022. Pleasing.
  17. 1. AC/DC 2. Radiohead 3. Dire Straits 4. Beach Boys 5. Creedence Clearwater Revival
  18. Olly Alexander tipped today in the Guardian. Then again, Kris Marshall was the favourite last time.
  19. The Guardian's annual "Who should be the next Doctor?" article. Again, the usual Guardian suspects mentioned (Tilda Swinton, Richard Ayoade) plus a few flavour-of-the-month types. https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2021/jun/22/from-riz-ahmed-to-michaela-coel-who-should-be-the-next-doctor-who
  20. A week today, and I'll be posting my pish and Star Trek pictures to P&B from my office.
