  1. After losing years of my childhood to Elite and Frontier, now we have Elite: Dangerous. Multiplayer game, http://elite.frontier.co.uk/ The alpha is out now - it's playable
  2. You should be spending at least 30 hours a week on your studies. Sod the gym, hit the library.
  3. Best of luck with the transfusion. The stomach bug has hit our house, too. My little girl (aged 3) came in to our bed at about 2am. After 2 hours of her thrashing about making odd noises, the wife went downstairs to sleep on the couch. 10 minutes later the wee lassie puked. Went everywhere, the bed, walls, even in my slippers on the floor. She's off nursery today (no surprise) but I do feel bad as she missed 3 days last week with the cold.
  4. Check out the comments here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctor-Who-Complete-8-DVD/dp/B00I3JR9SG
  5. Never really got all the fawning over Archie Panjabi
  6. The amount of drugs consumed is far, far less than the amount of alcohol. No surprise that alcohol is a bigger killer. If I wanted a bottle of whiskey, I could buy one in around 5 minutes from my seat right now. Wouldn't know how to get my hands on drugs. And this, when alcohol is legal and regulated, muppets on here believe that drugs should then be legalised and mass marketed? Why, so we can see what's the REAL killer between alcohol and drugs? It's too late to criminalise alcohol - most attempts have failed. But legalising drugs will only make their users and dealers feel good about the fact that they're gambling with their lives instead of refusing to fill their bodies with shite.

    Breaking Bad

I want this so I can watch it all again from the start
  8. Good job. My PhD supervisor wanted 3 papers published before the viva - I went in with six. Was a fairly straightforward 2 hours after that. The paper might be online as a corrected proof sooner than you think. I had one paper available online as an "early view" edition for 14 months before being assigned page numbers.
  9. Comedy Central have a new series of adverts out now: "We don't like old...we like new" showing them blowing up old paintings, bottles of wine and stuff. I saw one of these adverts during a break in the middle of a 20 year old episode of Friends the wife was watching.
  10. I remember listening to a Talksport caller one time speaking to Collymore. It was along the lines of, "I tell you, Stan, he hit that penalty harder than you hit Ulrika" Somehow the connection was lost at this point to the caller.
  11. Yep, more strikes a-coming. For those talking about teaching time, it's a minimal part of what a student is expected to do.
  12. I was a little bored. If they had two other actors in there, I doubt this series would survive.
  13. Been a while since I've posted on this thread. For me, I reckon The Rangers will make it to the end of the season. Then, they'll mortgage themselves based on next season's TV money to get through half their season in the Championship. where they'll come unstuck is the belief they'll walk the championship. They will not. When the first doubts that they're not heading straight back to the SPFL come in, then Admin II. My guess.....this time next year
  14. My mum bought her last car from AC and had it for years. Each year she dutifully took it for an annual service and set aside around £500 for the costs. Every single year they'd "find" major problems that needed expensive fixes. Eventually I said to mum to take the car to the mechanic I use for a service. Her worry was that without the AC stamp, year in year out, the car would depreciate in value. At £500 a year for 5 years, I explained, the costs of these expensive services are outstripping the depreciation. So last year she took the car in and they quoted £450 for the "urgent" work needed. It was the straw for mum, and she wheeled the car round the corner to my mechanic and he did a full service for £125. The major problems AC highlighted were just wear and tear and little fixes. The only companym worse than these guys is Kwik Fit.
  15. Episode 11 was aired in the US yesterday. Hopefully soon.
  16. Off to the doc tomorrow to see about getting el snip.
  17. Watched teh David Tennant regeneration again yesterday. Good God that goes on a bit. Hope we're not in for any of that nonsense next week.

    Breaking Bad

The train episode was excellent, mainly because of the utter shock at the end. But I remember that scene where the Mexican is off to get his axe and Hank is trying to load the gun with the special bullet...man, that was tense.

    Breaking Bad

The best episode was the one where Hank was attacked by the Mexicans. No doubt.
  20. I used to have a Jack Russell called Penny and she was magic. She had one broken ear when we got her, so had one ear that stuck up and one that flopped down. Fearless, she was. When she died, I said I'd never have another dog again. Can't go through that loss again.
  21. Enjoyed that a lot. I was kinda waiting for her husband to show up and do something in this episode, but no.
  22. I enjoyed it all except the bit with Matt Smith.
