  1. far too much focus on the WSL which I personally dont have much interest in, despite following womens football a fair bit. I expect nearly everyone on here would be the same. Made a number of the questions difficult to give an informed answer on.
  2. How are we in a situation where the teams sitting 3rd and 4th, comfortably ahead of any other team, have no confidence in their own team getting a result. Away win
  3. Went in Expecting not to like it, but ultimately found it quite a lot of fun. I know there is a spoiler warning on the thread - but *Spoilers* below watched a few reviews on youtube which have largely panned it, and many of the points they bring up I noticed and agree with, by all means its not perfect. Perhaps its a reflection that Im not massively into Star Wars like many other people, the only thing that really bothered me was pretty much everything involving Palpatine. I thought it was stupid that he was even in the film in the first place - But I thought he was a ridiculous character here. A few other minor gripes, one being their decision to pretend someone is dead - but it turns out no they are not. I enjoyed (for lack of a better word) 'killing off' Chewie - I was surprised by it at least, and then in what seemed like the next scene He is back. Anyway despite all the negatively, I would recommend people watch this film.
  4. BT have the rights I think. This is absolutely chronic
  5. My assumption on Gallagher is that when he came in he was match fit. This allowed him to look good against our europa league opponents. Now everyone is becoming match fit also he is becoming less and less valuable
  6. understand that he no doubt has a desire to play at a higher level, and as a fan delighted to see him come through the youth system, and attain a level of performance which is potentially above us. Also happy for him to get a big transfer move, but the current timing of this is very poor, with seemingly only 2 fit centre backs and 2 huge games coming up in the next 10 days it puts us in a very difficult situation and could be quite destructive.
  7. I feel empty inside. Thought we had some really great play in spells and was already thinking about the R16 v Grenoble. Did we blow it? If we can’t win with a 3 goal lead and 20 minutes remaining than I have to say yes. Ultimately our game management should have been better. But the refereeing was shocking. Much has already been said about VAR and I don’t particular have anything else to add other than as a fan, it’s a shit experience. That may be because we never benefitted from VAR, But simply took far too long today What I will heavily criticise the referee for was the lack of adding time on at the end. I have never seen the referee blow full time and the players and fans simply stand there in confusion. The referee must have stopped play for the initial VAR decision at 86 minutes? And then preceded to add only 4 minutes of time despite 5 substitutions, 4 goals and no play from this moment until the centre after retake of the penalty, we then attacked once and the game ended. I was looking forward to what was going to be 10 minutes of all out attack from both teams. And the Argentinians immediately taking the free kick mid substitute was poor sportsmanship, or the referee should have brought this back, I’m admittedly unfamiliar with the rules here. Again I don’t think I’ve actually ever seen that during a match. I don’t think it should be legal if it is.
  8. To clarify (according to Wikipedia) who the third place teams play depends on the 4 groups in which the teams qualify from. The remaining possible combinations which would require us to play in Le Havre vs France all involve the group C third place not qualifying, which for various reasons is really unlikely. Essentially Italy would have to hammer Brazil, in a game they just need to draw (or could even lose) and finish top. Hopefully that makes sense
  9. France best Nigeria 8-0 last year, I realise it’s not too difficult to improve and make yourself much harder to score against, but it would be ridiculous for France to not beat Nigeria
  10. I would say that is quite accurate. would expect if we win, we will qualify, and probably two of A,E,F not make it through. All 3 of those combinations leave us with a round of 16 tie in Grenoble against the group B winner(AKA Germany). That’s probably the end of the road, but it’s a substantially Better tie than France, which would be the other possibility
  11. Quite surprised that you haven’t been aware of the CTR remake. I’ve stopped looking at all the trailers and gameplay because I feel I have ruined the experience by seeing so much already. I have never been more hyped for a game in my life though so really looking forward to a remake of the best game of all time. Although out in France just now watching the women’s World Cup so if the qualify for the R16 I won’t get it to play it on release.
  12. Pretty gutted after that. Performance wise I was expecting a bit more from us, but Japan looked much better than England, certainly when attacking. A few costly defensive errors, and our attacking players struggled to unsettle the Japan defence during 1v1s. Still in with a chance to qualify if we beat Argentina. Although will need at least an England win/draw vs Argentina or we are out. Oh, and some frustrating refereeing decisions also
  13. The fan zone is at a park quite close to the beach called Albert 1er. I also think there are shuttle buses from here to the match in the evening if you’re needing to travel.
  14. I think it is just you, click on "more" beside the Scottish premiership on the table or fixtures, and you should be able to select championship or league 1 or 2 from there
  15. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-27087942 article on the BBC from 2014 on working hours from teachers which I doubt has changed too much. "So how long is the working week? For secondary head teachers, it stretches to an average of 63.3 hours per week - the longest of any of the teaching jobs. Primary classroom teachers worked longer hours - 59.3 hours - than their secondary school counterparts, who worked for 55.7 hours per week. The hours in a secondary academy were slightly less, at 55.2 hours." These numbers could be inflated by mainly recording newly qualified teachers which likely have to spend more time planning and are less efficient than experienced teachers but on the whole I think their holidays probably balances out their work during term time. I also think a number of people would find the job fairly unbearable.
  16. The wider problem is the newspaper industry. They require a certain ammount of news stories a day to fill a newspaper. This results in a number of puff pieces and press releases which are used simply to fill the paper and have no value to anyone. How many news stories are worthwhile to anyone in a day? Its probably no more than 3 articles on average and on some days, theres probably nothing worth reporting. Newspapers need to release a newspaper everyday so that they can survive as a company. This results in journalists being required to provide an article everyday. Because of this, what you find in a newspaper is mostly poorly researched, sometimes bordering on propaganda, nonsense. The same thing happens in the sports section. Journalists twist the words of an interview to turn a non-story into a backpage headline. Journalists speak more about the Old Firm, because the clubs have more fans and in turn, more people are interested in reading those articles. A newspaper requires space to be filled, so journalists have to write about something when there is nothing valuable to write about. Poor journalism is only part of the problem, the whole industry is set up to peddle shit down our throats which is either irrelevent or wrong. Its all very well criticising the individuals who write these articles but they are simply a product of a system which is designed to get as much money as possible so their dying business can stave off the grim reaper for another day.
  17. I dont think its a fix. But, the systems that are used very much help teams stay in their current position which happens both domestically and in Europe. Obviously the powers that be see this as a good thing. But, as Aberdeen fans it seems to be getting harder and harder to take our team to the next level and get into the group stages. That said, Motherwell and Killie have had great seasons but still havent qualified for Europe. Teams become pinholed into their "natural order" which is imo a load of crap. I would l ike to see a little bit more chaos in football and a good way to start would be getting rid of seedings in these draws but this is sadly unlikely to ever happen.
  18. No we are unseeded due to the changes to the qualifying that have been made this year. Its getting harder and harder to qualify. Think we would have had a coefficient of ~ 8 if it was doen the way last year, but because of the changes we have a coefficient of 4.25, compared with Rangers and Hibs who have 4.00 who have barely been competing in Europe recently. Its frustrating and a farely brutal draw
  19. stopped watching a lot of tv, but Taskmaster is one of the few programmes I still watch. Just an example of a fairly simple concept executed well, with some fantastic and ridiculous results. still coming up with tasks which are distinctive and characteristic of the show. I personally think they have peaked with the insane ineptitude of Paul Chowdhry, but every episode es excellent. I hope they continue the show for at least a few more seasons.
