As you say it's all about opinions this darvel team is the best I've ever seen at our level  but they wouldn't finish in the top six of league one it's ok watching them play in one off cup ties and  beating teams higher than them but over the course of a full season two thirds of that team won't be good enough that's my opinion.

Mate u might be right I might be right we will never know and I’ve no problem with that opinion , it wouldn’t do if we all had same thoughts  , anyway I need to go and get some mortgages agreed for clients !

You also denied there was big money involved.

Mark trust me at that time there wasn’t , there was good money but NOT big money , fgs more than half the team came from Colville  and we’re playing for £40 per week when they came , some on nothing , and I remember mick saying I’ve a chance we can get Darryl meggat to come and sign , at that time meggat signed for £150 per week

Ian McShane dropped from Falkirk who pay well when he was playing every week to Darvel and is allegedly on £800 a week. It is rumoured that Craig Moore is on 1k a week and got a Black Rooster franchise to sign. Not sure what your point is here as it is very clear they are dropping down for £.

Im No even going to start replying to that nonsense , sorry

I'm not saying Darvel aren't a good side for one minute. However I do think anyone using cup ties as evidence of how a team would do in a league tends to be an idiot.

Would Stevenage be mid-table in the Premier League down south because they beat Villa? Would 2013 (or whenever the Tony Watt game was) Celtic have won La Liga that season because they beat Barcelona?

Bonnyrigg Rose are a good example of the gulf between non-league and league football. They kept near enough the same squad that, deservedly and impressively, won the Lowland League title last year. They are now struggling big time in League Two, have shipped out a load of first team players from the LL title win and have been forced to rebuild their squad with some more SPFL experience.

Nobody knows how this Darvel squad would get on in League One because they aren't playing League One teams week-in, week-out.

Would I fancy them to finish above Peterhead and Clyde? Absolutely. Would I fancy them to finish above Kelty and Queen of the South? Not really.

Mate ur correct it’s all about opinions but I remember 4 years ago on here telling everyone what was about to happen at darvel and I got slaughtered from Most on here but mainly Talbot fans , I’ve been proved correct and I believe mick can do it in the senior game also , second best is not in his vocabulary

Well your argument was Kennedy could take over any League 1 side and win the league, not that Darvel would win it. Do you think he could manage the current Clyde side to a league win?

Kennedy and Darvel are spending money others can't dream of even if you boys want to kid on it's the scenic Ayrshire coast that is bringing them there and they've already failed to go up once. The guy is an imposter. Great connections in the game? He's a nobody who is playing real life Football Manager.

Mate pep guardiola couldn’t get that Clyde team to win the league but I’d imagine any manager would go in look at what they have and then rebuild and get players in to be successful , that’s what mick would do at any club but listen you have your opinion and I have mine , it wouldn’t do If we all thought the same

Generally I like what you post, you are very honest.

However, I can't agree that players want to play for Kennedy if the money isn't there.

I also don't believe that Mick could make a success of a club that isn't backed by big money.

It takes money to win things. It's the same in football the world over. Soldiers of love simply won't cut it if not backed by money.

Fm it’s easy for him To attract players because of wages I get that iM No stupid but let’s no be kidded there are guys playing at darvel who could earn more elsewhere and If and when he steps up if he gos for a player and he’s in the ballpart of what other teams are offering I think he would get them to sign , he’s infectious and guys love playing for him , anyway I’ve got soul but I’m not a soldier ha ha

Fair do's, we'll agree to disagree, I'll admit to not seeing a lot of live Darvel games, only highlights on here, and I'm sure you'll be the same with League 1 and 2.  While I've no doubt he could make an impact at certain clubs in certain circumstances, and his motivational style may certainly get that extra 10% out of players, managing Darvel in the WOSFL with a budget that PROBABLY (and I say that because I'm no financial expert) dwarfs the rest of the league, and at least half the league above, and managing Albion Rovers who probably have the worst budget in any of the top 4 leagues are 2 very different things.

I've no doubt he'll get a crack at it and i'll watch with interest, but I just don't think he's the messiah that he's being made out. Time will tell though.

Mate the game is all about opinions , I don’t agree with his team selections and dont always agree with him but that’s what football is all about , but he knows the game inside out and as I said earlier he has got great connections in the game , what I do know mick only does the job to win things and for self satisfaction , he doesn’t take a wage out of darvel so whatever club he gos to I can assure you they will get success as that’s what drives him on

I Don't mind a lot of what you've been saying over the last couple of weeks and followed this thread with interest since the start of the season, but come on man, Mick Kennedy could take over ANY team in League 1 or 2 and win the league..... really?

Yea and I don’t even think it im Sure of it ammo

Come on m8 get a grip he was at colville park who at that level had money (may be his)darvel the new Gretna and you think he could do the same job going to a club with little money ie spfl teams like Dumbarton partick and arbroath . Do you honestly think he would be there if the cash cow wasn't there.

Mate u still have to play a certain way and get the players to come to the club , I get most of them are there because of the wages but I also get why players would want to play for him , if he had any team in league 2 my belief is he would get them promoted , same applies to league 1 , as far as the championship gos then im No going to be daft and say he would get a team To the premier league but what I do know is he has got great connections in the game and if a team Were offering similar money to what he could offer I believe the  player would want to sign for him

You talk sense unlike a lot of people on here . I don’t know john at all and tbh I only see him at the smaller games when I can make it, for instance I was at the arthurlie game & the Irvine game. And have followed them when I can He’s clearly a guy who has did well for himself in life and I have spoken to him in very small doses. I can see where people come from about him popping up on tv etc I get all that but it shouldn’t annoy anyone let him have his glory that’s what he’s maybe put money in to see and have his wee nights on tv. Mick on the other hand Is getting drawn into this bad guy category for having a few speeches on tv. Mick is one of the nicest guys anyone will meet and is a fair guy with everyone. I don’t like seeing people talk him down on a forum that he’s on & slag the guy he’s another who’s done& is doing well for himself in life and long may it continue! I love what he’s doing at darvel and as I keep repeating if I want to go to any game on a Saturday in the wosfl il go & watch darvel whoever there playing for value for my money!

Mate it will rankle with gall forever that I chased mick for 6 months and brought him To the club after his attempts , he’s the best man manager of footballers that I’ve came across in all my years in the game , do I think he’s perfect ? Far from it I hear u going on about meechan , I could do the job he does and I’m 58 , he’s very professional does his job but for the outlay and wages he will be on I would expect a lot more out of him , ross Caldwell plays every week and for the life of me I don’t know why but mick must see something in him that I and the boys around me don’t see , and left back is an obvious weakness but again must be a reason why Jordan Allan is no playing as he’s far better player than boy McGowan , good thing for gall is I see we now have a sporting director so will be interesting to see who  he brings in after mick leaves and he will ,  he’s done it in amateur football , junior football and I know he will be a success in the senior game , players just want to play for him it’s as simple as that

Sustainability and football don't go together and Darvel would be no different from a number of teams in Scotland who rely on directors generosity to  survive. As for comparing the pieman to the secretary of the Talbot is like apples and pears. For starters the pieman is the chairman and that apart he runs a very successful business who advertise on TV. Any TV or media attention is free publicity for his company. BTW I had to point out to the Darvel committee a few seasons back who the Talbot secretary was. I don't really get this obsession with them.

For starters he’s no the chairman he’s the president but ur missing the point without googling most football fans couldn’t tell u who the chairman of livingston , Motherwell  . Celtic is so why does he have to come out with all his stupid statements and get interviewed all the time ? If it’s once it’s fine and I’ve no issues with that but his constant Pish is hard to listen to , it’s no about him it’s about the manager and players

Agree with everything there apart from the speech; it was horrible.

The only thing I'd add is that it's not just the league they NEED to win, there's the play off too.

Mark I thought the first one was fantastic and did mick a lot of favours  , but if I’m being honest I thought last nights was cringey and I personally wouldn’t have let the cameras in last night

Forum full of jealousy, mick & john no matter what they do or have done with there money should not be anyones business, I’d rather watch darvel than any other team at junior level regardless of there fan base I would pay my £8 to watch them than watch any other team in the league.

They at least try & play football & not hoofball.

They were in the game tonight at 2-1 albeit they were overall poor .

Sitting there waiting to slag them when they go out isn’t rite no matter who you support any proper wosfl supporter would have wanted darvel to win tonight& not worry about john & mick or whoever else is involved  seems like too many people are worrying about that side of things rather than the football .

Mate I agree with u the football is great and I’ve no got a problem with mick and the players getting all the publicity but as for gall I saw him saying he’s no been in his business recently ,that’s because cameras have been all over darvel and no other reason , I’ve got my own business and clients know I’m from darvel , up until Last night most were raving about micks speech against Aberdeen  but to a man they all think gall is a Walloper , my answer to that is who is the best junior team of all time ? They all reply the Talbot and I reply saying can u telL me what Henry dumigan looks like and they all say who ? Now  all of us in the junior game know who Henry is but keeps out the limelight , the way it should be but no gall ,I heard him Saying we will get crowds of a 1000 on different tv stations , aye he will if the other team bring 750 wae them

when mick leaves and he will the club will Go on but gall picking a manager will be interesting as he’s clueless about the game .

as for last nights game we needed 9or 10 players on top of their game but was evident from very early on we were off it and it was going to be a long night , Falkirk did their homework and were miles  better.

and the bottom Line is the club has spent a fortune and we are out of every competition apart from the league , I think we will win it but if we don’t then I would suggest the season is a failure, let’s hope they can go on and win it but it won’t be easy

I agree with your last few lines 100% Iv Been to many places to watch darvel & tbh sometimes I think to myself there’s more at a tossing school
maybole last year in a cup game I counted 15 fans.

Mate Clydebank last Wednesday sickened me but didn’t surprise me , first game after beating Aberdeen and there was more there from Clydebank

Seems quite remarkable that there's no public sale.

Wonder what the breakdown is, home/away/friends and family/corporate sponsors/freebies?

Think the issue here is the capacity has been severely cut by the police after the Aberdeen game  , but all the club has to do is tell the public this and it’s easy explanation ,instead they say there is going to be public sale and then no tickets left which is causing a bit of anger .

im sure said mick said last game players wanted a 1000 tickets between them  , Falkirk get 900 , why I don’t know ? Doesn’t leave a great deal for the public but to be fair I don’t have a great deal of sympathy for the darvel public as they don’t support the team any other time .
