Out of any of the teams in the league, Arbroath Vics have disappointed this season. By far the biggest population in Angus. Something is going wrong there.

Forfar with two teams including a newly formed Forfar "United" also has one scratching one's head.

Acht well. Not important in the wider scheme of things, just puzzling.

Next season the Vics will be a part of the AFC community trust pathway system, in theory getting the best players from the community trust amateur teams (Arbroath Ammos). Sounds good in theory, but still can’t see many boys being keen to jack in ammos football where they have a good chance of winning stuff with their pals (a lot of boys play Saturday & Sunday) to go junior. Vics also on the lookout for a new management team at the minute.

Think those quality players will stick around if we're relegated to league 2?  I doubt it.  As soon as we're down, the good players will immediately be off, and come the summer, we'll be scrabbling around for signings again.  So no, as it stands, there isn't a great deal of difference.

Anyway, my *actual* point was that actually, the recruitment last summer wasn't bad at all.  2 years ago was a disaster, but last summer we had Slater, Steele, Bird, Hylton, Norey, Adams, McIntosh.  As a fanbase, if we don't try and shift goalposts, then apart from the defensive issue (which I and a few others were shouted down for going on about at the time), we were generally pretty happy with recruitment during the summer.

The problem with the size of the league is partly the potential for late finishes but for me it's more that by the time you get to May many teams have chucked it.

Every year May is double figures season.

Aye I was at Vics 0-10 Kirrie today and their squad can’t be described anywhere near as good as threadbare. Said it before on this thread, it’s an impossible task for teams to recruit knowing that they are literally playing for nothing. A split, or a cup for team below X position on X date is badly needed so these teams actually have something to play for.

Ricky little has been a tremendous player for you lot and will be a big miss for sure he would have strolled L1.

Michael McKenna (if he is away) along with Bobby Linn used to be right up for the derby over the years and used to always turn up.Kinda feel now Arbroath have lost their fear factor about them with most off the old guard leaving now.

A lot of familiar faces out the door but that is football and nothing lasts forever. Time for a new era.

Usually when sponsors put money into a club they usually get something back in return. Tickets to games that they can hand to friends/family/employees etc , invites to the boardroom for games, corporate events, etc etc. Just part of the game. Nothing sleekit.

And that also includes tables at awards dinners where they get to sell these seats to people they know. Last year i am sure there was a number of seats advertised by the club. This year the tables were all full up.

Club has expanded with the womens teams so that has probably ment that there was no extra tables this year to sell to Joe Bloggs as they got a share of the tables.

Next time there is a chance to interact with the board at a meeting, if someone is that bothered by not getting a chance to go to the awards, perhaps they can come along and raise the question with the board.

I’m not really that fussed about attending myself, but if they can’t find a bigger place to host it then an option might be organising a separate sponsors evening so that more regular supporters can attend POTY. One of the things that really got me hooked supporting AFC, and something that I see as a huge advantage over my mates who support the old firm etc, is being able to easily access the players and get to know them a bit.

Whilst I agree he is a poor official.

Kettlewell has lost the run of himself over this. Claims that Napier sprints over to give the red card when he clearly calmly walks over. Claims anyone who has played the game would have given a yellow, when Napier has played football. Also claims he was dishing out cards all game, when only 3 cards were given.

By all means criticise the referee but at least keep it legitimate and honest. It was also clearly a red card.

Don’t disagree with you here, was mostly referring to Liam Kelly’s interview where he talks about Napiers arrogance.

  7. Slightly off topic but he’s ruined enough of our games over the last couple of years, great to see Craig Napier getting called out by Motherwell players/management for being the little p***k that he is. Him and Colin Steven are 2 referees who I automatically assume will make the game worse with their officiating.

I would say that judging by the fact that it is Ali Adams that he is far from blameless in this situation. An absolute banger who has been chased from every club he’s been at.

Obvious to anyone with half a brain cell. Unfortunately some fans would believe Ali Adams if he told them the moon was made of cheese.

  9. I take it Ricky is back from suspension for this?Fitting that most likely his last game for us at Gayfield will be against QP, and also incredible to think what’s happened to both clubs during his time at Gayfield!

Not one for dead rubbers but will head down to this I think.

Heard Stenny midfielder Jordan Kirkpatrick (him that scored the goal when Darvel beat Aberdeen FC) has moved to Tayside with his work and is hoping Arbroath FC makes a move for him (this comes from one of his best mates that i work with).

Hopefully an Arbroath FC employee reads this and passes this info onto JMc.

Kirkpatrick runs the Dundee branch of black rooster , Mick Kennedy’s chicken shop

What’s been happening at East Craigie?.  Not sure but I was expecting them to be a team challenging for the championship and they look as if they are a mid table finish.  Have they lost players or a manager ?

Basically all of the players who were involved in their great season a few years back have been pinched by other teams.

Just out of interest what is his day job? I heard it mentioned on a podcast that he properly earns more in part time than he would in full time. Similar to Roary McAllister

Works at Rosyth Dockyards. Can’t mind exactly what job. Welding gaffer rings a bell

  13. Went to watch North End Vs Lochee tonight, North End were as brilliant as Lochee were poor. Familiar story from when I’ve seen the Chee previously, no real game plan or cohesion. Long ball to Linn and Hay was bread and butter for North End centre halves. Goal of the match Frankie Devine’s incredible strike for the second.

I'm not really saying anything new, but that's a terrific signing. Calum Gallagher in League One is like Dwight Gayle was in the Championship down south a few seasons ago. Just a guaranteed goalscorer, who maybe isn't quite capable of taking that next step. So fair play getting him tied down early. That's as good a signing as any League One team will make all summer, and it's only April!

He's an absolutely fantastic team player. Will work himself into the ground, do the ugly side of the game. Run channels, hold play up. All that good stuff. It still pisses me off that we had fans berate him every week for us because he runs in a weird, ungainly way. Sure, he's not the most aesthetically pleasing forward in the world, but I'd kill to have him back at The Rock.

Genuinely lovely guy too with a really nice nature about him. As said above, he'll be one happily dishing out high-fives and selfies with the kids.

Since you’ve mentioned him - Dwight Gayle’s wife is from Forfar. Fun fact.

  15. Had typed a longer post out but forgot to post and it disappeared - to summarise, would be gutted to lose Mikey as I believe he’s someone with the best interests of the club at heart. He is EXACTLY the type of player/character who has brought us our recent success, and it would be fairly damning if he was to move on at this stage of his career (Even if this is largely due to not getting on with McIntyre, I have no doubt there are some other factors). Really wanting the season to end now so we can clarify players futures and start moving forward.

From what I’ve heard no new deals have been offered yet. Scott Stewart and a few others have been asked when they’re coming back for pre season by mcintyre which all but confirms he’s staying for next season. Scott has defo not been offered a new deal so chances are neither has anyone else.

    Any other exclusives?
