Have we not just signed a young English kid, who has decided to move here?

and let’s be fair to Hancock, he is mostly being judged on a few games out of position and a game at Cove, where the whole team performed appallingly

Yeah, from the 9th tier of English football. Hancock's previous clubs include Fulham, Oxford United & Aberdeen, he's not going to dick about pretending to be full time with Kev Middleton.

    3-5-2 again today… hopefully doesn’t become a thing

Wee centre mid who was good against Brechin playing and a striker who I believe was playing in national league last year and has been at a couple of good clubs - feels more like an Adarkwa than a Turan so that’s promising

3-5-2 is a recurring theme in pre season to get minutes in legs I tend to find

Do you have evidence to back this up ?

I seriously doubt a businessman who has invested into property would be providing flats free of charge - they will expect a return on their investment ( there are also other costs - bank loans, community charge, electric and various overheads for workmen, repairs and maintenance).

If you can provide proof that these flats are provided "free" I will stand corrected, but where did you get your information from ?

    😂 2 mins I'll get a receipt

Wouldn’t throw money at anybody but paying transfer fees and a premium on players wages at the top end of the pitch is surely preferable to what we’ve been doing with all these jobbers. Also we are presumably paying for their accommodation and expenses if they’re moving into the town. These players aren’t coming cheap or am I missing something?

To be fair I doubt we are paying anything towards the accommodation given the flats belong to a board member

Dale Carrick for example 🇱🇻⚽🔥 Ticks all the boxes, Stirling need the money so why not test their resolve with a bid, We were happy to take Forfar & East Fifes best player so why not do the same for the positions we are desperately looking to fill.

It must not occur to you that people like Dale Carrick might just be happy where they are?Much like TOB, McKenna etc could probably have moved on to bigger/higher placed clubs but haven't because the circumstances suit them here. Personally as a player I wouldn't think coming into a certain relegation battle is that appealing either, plus the added travel for someone like Carrick.

We had nowhere near this level of negativity last summer, and we were in favour of giving people a chance.  I mean, I love to doomsday as much as the next lichtie, and I have my own concerns about the management, but jesus, lets at least give people a chance to show what they can do before we scrap heap them?

If you cannot figure out why people are less likely to give these sort of punts a chance now than they were last summer then you are beyond help.

We had 7 trialists last night, 3 of them were youth academy players who presumably aren't registered with first team so have to be listed as trialists.

The other four's last clubs were Bohemians, QoS, Coventry U23 and Welling Utd. Doolan has been talking up our new scouting system but not clear whether the two guys from down South were picked up on that or are just agent tip offs worth a punt in a game to see if we hit the lottery jackpot.

Would it not be harder for you guys to get trialists to come in from outside Scotland with being PT as they'd have to find another FT job on top of relocating? Suppose it might be a bit easier these days with more remote working.

Last year we had 3/4 "full time" players who would do their own stuff during the day. But you are really scraping the barrel for the standard of player that is willing to relocate here to do that

Yeah they’re not bad at all - it’s just the way it is and always will be - only takes one kid to do something silly (kids tend to do silly things) and it could all get embarrassing so better being safe than sorry - doesn’t make a difference for home fans either way.

Hoping to see Stowe and Slater - noticed McKenna and Goldie post on Twitter that they’d be missing - be interesting to see who gets punted left back. Hopefully just one or two of trialists from last week

Well if they get the full segregation it makes the viewing experience considerably worse for the home fans who would like to get behind both goals.

This is true. And if any manager could sort McLean out then Dick could be that man.

Fwiw he was really poor for us. But I actually think he could be a Championship player if he's used in the right way, with the right manager and right players around him. I don't think his issue is ability at all, I think it's all in his head.

He bagged 15 goals two seasons ago for Peterhead. We used him as a loan striker target man type though and, despite his size, that just isn't his game at all. By all accounts he caused a few issues in the changing room too but, again, I can't see that happening at Arbroath. If not Dick then one of the senior players like TOB/Little etc would put him in his place very early on.

Tall striker who's game isn't about being a target man...ANNOUNCE LD

Yes and yes, we got licensed last year and have spoken out that our ambition is to get to the Highland League. With signing Bobby (and more players still to be announced) we're seriously working on our squad to hopefully make that reality.

How many of the players would actually be keen to make the highland league camel treks though?

Bobby Linn has gone to Lochee United. I had wondered if he might have come to us after leaving the Lichties. Instead we signed another former Arbroath player in Skelly. We'll see how he gets on for us.

He wouldn't have gone to another senior club for a few different reasons. Plus I'm sure lochee will have put together a very, very nice package for him.

  12. Seemed inevitable he would end up at Lochee United - will be far and away the best player in that league, and when you see the amount of goals your Josh Skellys have been scoring he could end up with some silly numbers.
