  1. I didn’t say that. Like everything to do with football this will be down to money. In Scottish football, the first failing is with Doncaster and Maxwell not being able to negotiate good enough TV and Sponsorship deals.
  2. You are of course ignoring the fact that the Lowland League and the Highland League aren’t part of the SPFL.
  3. There was a discussion about this last year. If I remember right. The home team gets 15% off the top and the remaining 85% is split equally between the home team and the SPFL. So, 57.5% to the home team and 42.5% to the SPFL.
  4. I think understandably other clubs fans don’t remember that we got into the playoffs on goal difference only last season. We only won one of our last 4 games. The momentum only built in the playoffs.
  5. I imagine that Ross County had a larger squad than us, which probably would have had an impact on fitness.
  6. Whether we like the playoffs or not, it does cut out a lot of meaningless games. Take our game yesterday, neither of us were in the playoffs there wouldn’t have been nearly 4,000 at the game. The playoff gave it that wee bit extra edge.
  7. It’s a tough call. He won’t want to give up the winning run at Firhill before the playoffs start. Like last season, we were unbeaten in 5 at Firhill going into the playoffs. It might be an opportunity to give O’Reilly some more time. Having got the defence and attack working together for the first time this quarter, we should give it another shot without messing with it too much.
  8. The leagues need to be bigger so that we are only playing teams twice a season.
  9. It’s not just the playoff format that is a farce - the whole league set up is.
  10. And Docherty kicking the ball out of play straight from the kick off. Ross County had been the better team during the game but we should have been able to see the game out. However, those decisions were crucial in respect of the rest of the game.
  11. There were no bookings for either team yesterday - just like the first game in August.
  12. I think Graham has scored in all 3 so far. He will be desperate to score in this one too, repeating what he has already done against Dunfermline. Ayr aren’t quite safe yet, although a point might be enough. We will know if a point is all we need to secure 3rd spot before the game starts thanks to Airdrie playing Dundee Utd on Friday night. However, listening to Doolan, I don’t think he wants to take the foot off the gas.
  13. It might have felt like that, but it certainly didn’t look like it from the JHS. I think I heard just under 700 Airdrie supporters, which is probably the biggest behind Dundee Utd this season.
  14. Thought we had the better of the 1st half, although Mitchell had to make 3 or 4 saves in the last 10 minutes or so to keep the scores level. We might have had one or two ourselves too. 2nd half we just took complete control at the start and could have scored more than 3 in the 1st 20 minutes. From a team that lost 13 goals in 4 games in February, we have now just lost 3 in the last 7 - one a penalty and one in injury time when the game was already won. And today there were blocks getting made from just about everybody.
  15. I am not sure we offered more than Raith - just a longer deal.
  16. I had forgotten about Doolan’s impact overall - really just commenting on the form leading into the playoffs. I think we are in a pretty similar position, although I think Stevie is a bigger loss than Milne turned out to be.
  17. We’ve picked up a couple more points in the 6 games of this quarter than we did in the first 6 games of the same quarter last season and we took 5 points from the final 3 games. How we played in the playoffs kind of came out of the blue. I don’t think I realised at the time just how important Graham’s injury time winner vs QP was after conceding 2 late goals.
  18. Somebody posted the dates either much earlier on this thread or on one of the other threads - maybe it was the Thistle thread ?
  19. We played both Ayr and QP in the last few games of last season. Apart from anything else, you want to try and get a psychological advantage before going into the playoffs.
  20. Ayr are unlikely to have anything to play for. Whether that is good or bad you can never tell, while QP might be playing for Championship survival. So, I am not so sure its advantage Airdrie just yet for the remaining games.
