  1. I think there are some very good reasons that Robinson passed on him, his injury record being one. You have to feel for Killie fans, they have a championship level squad but are still deluded enough to believe top 6 is on. At least St Johnstone fans have self awareness of where they are.
  2. Don't worry, it's part of Derek's masterplan, which no-one has ever seen but the Killie fans seem to believe in.
  3. A good manager who has kept most of your duds, and signed a couple of kids and a past it midfielder. I do think you have a good manager, which makes me think, given the way he's constructing his squad, that he's being forced to do it on the cheap. Fowler also supposedly leaving makes me wonder whats going on.
  4. We may have challenged but our recruitment was bad, signing players like Hodson, Waters, Power and Lyons. I wonder where they all are now? I'll need to check, probably some Scottish League 1 mob I'd expect.
  5. Clubs have know for months what players are being released. You currently have a first team squad of 22, so there's not much additional space, and your signings so far are your goalie from last season, two kids from the Old Firm neither of whom have played a game higher than Championship level, and Alan Power who looked done towards the end of his time with us. If that was St Mirren at this stage of pre season, our thread would be full of raging fans wanting Robinson tarred and feathered. I'm surprised Killie fans are still so relatively upbeat despite everything.
  6. I'd pipe down, you are about to have a season of watching Lee Hodson and Callum Waters as your full backs, Blair Alston as your midfield playmaker and Brad feckin Lyons as your only option of the bench to change things. Enjoy.
  7. None of this would entirely surprise me. Robinson always struck me as quite agitated and abrasive on the sidelines, in contrast to JG who seemed much calmer by comparison. Having said that, there do seem to be a lot of players who are keen to link up with him again, so maybe some players are happy with that style.
  8. I think it depends what role Baccus is more comfortable playing. I think we lack a playmaker in midfield, not sure if that is his attributes or he's more defensive. It's one of the reasons I'd like to have signed Mallan, but that looks like it might not happen. I really have no idea how we'll do this season - some of our signings are unknown quantities while for others it will depend on keeping their fitness or regaining form. Still, it's good to see the squad almost complete and without a loan signing in sight!
  9. Thats not entirely true. St Johnstone fans also come on here to tell us they drive a big, expensive car.
  10. The thing is, "remorse" and "moving on to rebuild your life" are two different things. Remorse involves having some sort of understanding, regret for your actions and empathy with others, primarily the victim of your offence. Moving on to rebuild your life just means not doing it again. I'm not saying that Gallagher hasn't shown remorse, just that I'm not aware of it.
  11. Still here and still consistent. I fully support rehabilitation, my issue is where people don't take responsibility for past actions. I've not seen any interviews from Gallagher which expresses remorse and sympathy with his victim, which makes me uncomfortable with the signing- but I am willing to acknowledge this may have happened and I missed it. Martindale to his credit took responsibility, Charlie Adams has done likewise for his drink driving. Rehabilitation is possible and desirable, but there needs to be an acknowledgement of past mistakes and their impact for it to be possible.
  12. I'd be amazed if even one of our supporters would get behind a child rapist. I do agree that lack of a moral compass of our football clubs has been a significant issue. However, perhaps things are slowly changing - the Goodwillie situation, response to Ryan Giggs and Mason Greenwood are perhaps examples - yet there are still glaring inconsistencies. Harry Paton is facing similar charges to Greenwood yet played most of last season for Ross County without comment. Goodwillie had been playing for Clyde and made captain by Danny Lennon with no fuss, wrongly in my opinion. It is this inconsistency that is baffling. Regarding Gallagher, there is a powerful argument for rehabilitation- the offence occurred 7 years ago with no repetition, he has served his sentence and has played for three clubs and been capped by Scotland since then. My only issue is interviews I have seen from him after the offence and sentence spoke of the impact on him and his family, but not on the victim - though I could have missed any statements of remorse from him.
  13. Good, I forgot about his ignominious end at 'well, just reinforces that he's a wrong 'un.
  14. It depends I suppose on the crime, impact on the victim and levels of remorse. I'm sure there have been a lot of players who have played for us who may have been in trouble when younger. The issue with Gallagher is the assault was serious, it had a life changing impact on the victim, and from what I could see, any comments from Gallagher were about the difficult time he went through - absolutely zero victim empathy or awareness from what I could see. For those reasons, I really hope we don't sign him.
  15. Football wise, it wasn't that long ago that Gallagher was a stand out for Scotland, so he could rediscover that form. Unfortunately, he has more baggage than the carousel at Glasgow Airport. If we sign him, I'll no longer be able to have a go at Livi fans on here for their propensity to sign criminals.
  16. I think we'll be aiming higher than that, plus it would be a very un-Robinsonlike signing. Fully expect it to be some 6'4 dude in his early 20s with about 6 lower league clubs in England under his belt already who Robinson hopes he can mould.
  17. Hibs will be nowhere near the bottom. Killie as it stands have the poorest squad in the league and will struggle.
  18. Seems to have gone all quiet for you guys, I thought you were going to spend big and aim for top 6 this season? It'll be good to get the pretend Derby back, but are you not getting slightly nervous at the lack of signings? That squad as it stands looks like it'll be fighting it out with St Johnstone to avoid bottom.
  19. Every time I saw Doig he looked really good going forward but suspect defensively.
  20. He's done well getting a club at that level given he couldn't get a game for Partick Thistle last season. Hope he stays fit and does well down there.
  21. You would think he must have something about him for Middlesbrough to have picked him up, but his career before that was seriously underwhelming, dotting about various non league sides and not playing very much. It's a bit of a punt I think but hopefully it works out.
  22. As it is for everyone. Strangely, we've probably been one of the more active clubs and we've only confirmed 4 in so far.
