  1. Current odds have St J 1/10 to finish in bottom 2, ourselves 6/1 and Aberdeen 16/1. That feels about right. Realistically, St Mirren and Aberdeen only need about one win out of four to probably be OK, as if that happens St J will need to win at least 3 out of 4.
  2. It's bollocks to say the players aren't trying (with the possible exception of Main who gave one of the most half arsed performances in the second half I've ever seen). The rest were putting in effort, however we were hamstrung by a strange starting set up and then very late subs who had little chance to make an impact. On balance, a draw would have been a fairer result.
  3. Despite the doom and gloom from Saints fans, I still think it would take a lot for us to end up in the play off spot. Even if we lose next week, which is very possible, we are still 2 points clear with home games against Dundee and Livi up next. If we don't get the required points from those games I think we should decide not to play the play offs and just go down, as its what we would deserve. I think yesterday's draw at Dens may be the result that means Dundee finish 12th and St J 11th.
  4. Is pumping the physio part of the job description of a Hibs manager? Now we know why Jack Ross applied...
  5. Not quite. Around the same time Iain Munro became our manager for a day before jumping ship to Raith.
  6. The thing is, it doesn't even make financial sense. Our attendances for the three Old Firm games this season have been 6,000 plus each time - at an average of around 6400. As a comparison our crowd at the next best supported side (Hearts) was nearly 5800 (and I'm not even sure they sold out their end). Therefore, we make about £15k per match (assuming an average ticket price of £25), or £45k a season. We probably lose that much by the reduction in season ticket prices for those in the family stand. It's a bonkers policy that needs dispatched in the bin ASAP.
  7. Hands up if you are one of the fans who are part of this small group? Never heard anything about this, you would have thought a survey of the whole fan base may have been a better way to consider this?
  8. FFS, on top of everything else we have dogs shitting on the park. It's no wonder we have players slipping and sliding everywhere. I'd sack the groundsman.
  9. I am no fan of Sky, but it's a bit of a stretch to say they control how managers choose to dress on the side of the pitch. Anyone who interprets dress choices in the way you suggest clearly has issues.
  10. As long as we don't lose ground the week before it'll be fine. If we go into that with a six point lead, even if we lose we have the chance to rectify it with two home games against Dundee and Livi.
  11. At least by my reckoning we should have three home games left, along with Aberdeen and Livi, with Dundee, St J and Hibs away three times.* * Unless Doncaster fecks things up.
  12. Next week you are away at Inverness while Arbroath are at home to QOS. Wouldn't surprise me if Arbroath play you knowing if they win, they go top. Not home and dry yet.
  13. I'm 53, overweight with two dodgy knees and even I made the bench today.
  14. Agreed. From looking at other threads of sides now in the bottom 6, the overwhelming thought is their season is over. A 6/7/8 point lead may seem insurmountable but strange things can happen post split.
  15. To be fair, it's only really Alnwick, Tanser and possibly McCarthy I'd keep, if you exclude the loan signings who are almost certainly out of our reach. I like Power but he's getting on, ditto Flynn, and Millar has hardly featured. I suspect McCarthy may have signed for someone else, given the 'heads turned' comment and his performance on Saturday. The worry is the mixed messages - a couple of weeks ago we had to win or our season would be over, now we're in a relegation battle. That patter isn't likely to be attractive to anyone he's trying to sign, if they think Championship football is a possibility.
  16. That gives me the fear, last time I saw us win at McDiarmid was 2005 I think. Always seem to lose 1-0 when I'm there. Even remember a game there maybe 12 or so years ago when we were 2-0 up, Billy Mehmet was brought down for a blatant penalty which wasn't given and we ended up drawing 2-2 to a late penalty after one of our players handled on the line. Scottish Labour have a better record in Perth than us.
  17. To be fair, Killie look poor as well, but in a two legged play off there's always a risk Lafferty plays a couple of stormers.
  18. Agreed. We have gone from "this is a good squad, we just need to keep doing what we're doing" to "players heads have been turned, we just need to get to the end of the season so I can get my own players in" in little over a month. Even an incompetent manager (and i don't believe Robinson is) needed to do not very much to keep us on track for top 6 with the squad we have. I think he has tried to "put his stamp" on the team, but in doing so has told some players to leave yet will still expect them to put a shift in when they know they are not in long term plans - a sure way to demotivate. Only consolation is we still have a cushion on St J and even if the worst comes to the worst, this seasons championship play off contenders look especially shit.
  19. Even in the run of 11 winless games before Christmas, when we were playing a formation that clearly didn't work, we still drew 6 of them. The football might not have been pretty but we at least looked organised at the back. It's the same players, only change is the manager - though agree they are all experienced players who should have done much better today, regardless of the fact there clearly has been zero work done in training on defensive structure. As for Lyness, he has performed well at times when coming into the side, but I think today showed why he has been a lower league journeyman who often has struggled to be first choice at all his clubs. Definitely need a new goalie of the calibre of a Hladky or Alnwick.
  20. However, Robinson is the guy who should be making us hard to break down - some of the goals we lost both today and in the cup game v Hearts were schoolboy defending and would never have happened under Goodwin. Morecambe fans had the same criticism of Robinson - quite attacking but an open style of play that leaves his teams at high risk of being caught short at the back and losing goals on the counter. All four goals today weren't really individual errors (though Lyness should have saved the first) but were down to lack of organisation and defensive shape.
  21. Planning to go to this with my son on the train in a probably futile attempt to get him back interested in the footie. Is Airbles the nearest station and how far is that to the ground? And are there any family friendly pubs near the ground that sell food? TIA.
