Well we're about to,  we telegraph it

As they telegraph they'll play 5 narrow and try and suffocate the middle of the park

At least won't play two up front as we can't now adams injured

But both Croatia and Ukraine played 2 attacking midfielders high in the space in front of our three centre halfs and we couldn't get the ball

It's very simple you have a mindset of playing two 5-a-side teams, you sit a player in front of a back 4 with the mindset to defend with the full backs picking their times to break, the other 5 press the team off the ball out of possession, in possession the full backs time there runs supporting the other 5 in attack.

We will need to play a lot better if we are to take anything on Tuesday. I thought we looked extremely flat, despite generally controlling the match.

Christie to start would be my preference to support Dykes.

Folk booing Jack while playing for Scotland are laughable. They are probably the same people that get offended when a Rangers fan criticises or shows disassociation with the Tartan Army without any hint of self awareness. I’d be curious to hear from anyone that did or would have boo’d him. Everyone so far seems to have rightly called it out for what it is.

Before the game I didn't think there was a need to play both Jack and McGregor, keeping Jack for the Spain game would've been my preferred choice giving his injury problems, the energy in the last 20 minutes from McTominay and Christie is something we will need for 90 minutes against Spain, for me this is where the problem is, I've said on the Spain thread I would go 4-3-3 but don't see Clarke doing that.

If your talking a first pick side i wouldn't have jack in it at all. Hes always done well for Scotland but he's not on top form and in and out of his club side.

Most of the squad aren't getting decent game time which has it's own problems, the game isn't about the first eleven any more M8.
Spain are a squad in transition and still developing for me it's a good time to play them,Clarke is ahead in that regard.

Their all different. But in terms of a swap, McTominay and Jack are more similar than Ferguson.

Alot is getting made of Jack playing, we have a squad for a reason and we're playing Spain in 2 days. Using some of the squad and resting others when your at home to Cyprus seems like exactly the right thing to do.

That's your opinion M8, I disagree there attributes and abilities are very different which means they're better being in the same side not one for the other.

Why would Jack who has been playing behind the striker, or even the furthered man forward for his club. Be considered a direct replacement for Jack?

When McTominay who plays the exact same position, and has shown he can adapt to any midfield role not be considered?

For me Jack and McTominay are totally different midfielders, Jack reads the game better and can control a midfield dictate the play all these things McTominay still needs to learn plus there is no way Jack could do what McTominay did when he came on yesterday.

Slight issue with this. We don’t get to see the Spain team sheet before we have to submit ours.

But we can talk about it on here M8, if Morata plays we don't need to worry about the ball over the top but different if it's Joselu, for me this is why we've got to flood the midfield to stop the source and play with  a back four.

I’d be tempted to play with a false nine and keep Dykes on the bench in case we need to chase in the second half. We’re going to need as many bodies as possible tracking back into midfield in this game and I’m not sure Dykes is a good candidate for that.

Spain are just one of the large, established European powers now, in much the same way they were before becoming a superpower fifteen years ago.

They'll still be quite a bit better than us, and therefore strong favourites against us, and in the group more generally.

We can certainly cause them problems at home though, and must look to do so, banishing nonsensical, self fulfilling nonsense about free hits.

I bet Spain do drop points in this campaign, and I'd say it's therefore important to try making sure they drop some against us.

I was at the 2-3 game just to see Iniesta, this Spain squad has no where near the same quality of that team 15 years ago.
McGregor had a great night in goal plus Naismith had one of his best games in a Scotland jersey, if it wasn't for McManus getting caught under the ball we could've got the draw.
This Spain side can be got at,we should be taking the game to them and at least get the draw.
I don't want to see a 4-5-1 from Clarke, we should be going 4-3-3 in their faces performance.

Actually thought Armstrong was one of our best players today, certainly involved in most of our attacking play before he went off.

Agree, I think with McTominey and Christie coming on and playing well,it gives Clarke a good headache.
It's easy to say the guys that came on should start on Tuesday, the passive aggressive approach will not work against Spain imo. we need to be in their faces,I didn't think there was a need to have Jack and McGregor in this game but it duz allow players like Armstrong to have more space to hurt the opposition.

  10. Thought Hibs played well yesterday,Campbell and Doyle-Hayes worked their socks off, Kyogo should be scoring with his head instead of trying to be clever still a good save from Marshall.
Again the stop start nature of the game didn't help Celtic,McLean didn't allow the game to flow plus Hatate going off injured didn't help Turnbull looks like hes lacking confidence.
Good to see OH and Haksabanovic making a difference from the bench.

Ange Postecoglou has provided a Celtic injury update after a number of his players were not selected for international duty this week.

Defender Greg Taylor was not named in the Scotland squad with Steve Clarke detailing that the full-back had been playing through the pain barrier at Parkhead.

Cameron Carter-Vickers was also left out for the USA and interim boss Anthony Hudson explained that a knee problem meant he was not selected.

Postecoglou has now offered an injury update on his squad ahead of tomorrow's Premiership clash against Hibernian, as he ruled out Aaron Mooy and Tomoki Iwata.

He said: “Aaron Mooy will miss out, he has been a bit sore the last couple of weeks and probably won’t be able to get up for this weekend. And Tomoki Iwata got a bit of a back strain and couldn’t train.

“At a push, both could have played but with a two-week break, we have decided to leave them out.

“But Daizen Maeda is back and Carl Starfelt, who went off at half-time (against Hearts), is fine as well.”

He also said both CCV and Taylor will play tomorrow.
