  1. I have been actively following The Dons since the late 70s and am trying to remember feeling this low about the team. I know I felt gutted after losing the league cup replay to Utd in 79 as we had beaten both of the Old Firm en route and was sure this would be the first trophy I would see us win. (I was too young to fully remember 76). Then when Hamburg put us out of Europe after we had destroyed them in the first leg I remember the ribbing I got at school the next day. At least in those days I felt that the team had done their best and we still went into a season expecting to win something and regularly beat Glasgows finest home and away. I was overseas when Stenny beat us but we had beaten Rangers the previous week so felt that was just a freak result. Watching the game on Monday night was embarrassing, the team was second best in nearly every department on the pitch. No one seemed to be showing any leadership. Every player should hang their heads low and be made to apologise to the fans for such a performance.
  2. If you lose in the final you will at least have had the joy of winning the semifinal to secure the Final place, the build up to the final itself and the hopeful optimism of actual day out. I admit that I was gutted when Rogic scored right at the end of that game especially after having been in lead at one point but I was also immensely proud of how the team had performed that day. last night was without a doubt the lowest point that I can remember for the club. What made it worse was that the players didn’t look like they even cared.
  3. To all those people saying that the Dandies aren’t famous anymore. They have just been part of the biggest shock in Scottish Cup history so it depends on your definition of famous!
  4. Maybe if Goodwin says the team in blue are The Rangers, we might see a different performance in the second half!
  5. Only one team looks like they want to win tonight. Absolutely pathetic from the Dons so far.
  6. I agree, though I would ban Scotsport from ever showing curling again. Many a Sunday afternoon at my Grans was ruined when that show would open with Arthur Montford sitting in an Ice Rink and the realisation sink in that the football was now going to be on later and would clash with Sunday dinner!
  7. Looking forward to a nice weekend away in the hills celebrating the Mrs birthday that weekend. The only coronation I want to see is the chicken variety in my sandwiches.
  8. 1989-90 season, the ref was under instructions to award them a penalty and make sure it’s a Mason who scores the winning goal!
  9. Legend doesn’t even begin to describe Sir Andy. He is without a doubt the greatest living Scottish sportsman.
  10. Is the Nisbet sell on fee a one off if Hibs sell him or say he went to Celtic and was a big hit there getting a big move down south, would The Pars get a cut of that transfer fee too?
  11. Have they decided which ends of the ground each teams fans will be at yet? I see that the prices are pretty outrageous as well but if it sells out then there can’t be any complaints. Unfortunately it would also set a precedent for prices at future finals though.
  12. Even former leaders of the branch office don’t agree with this.
  13. Cyprus sold out as well now. I would imagine some tickets may become available nearer the game.
  14. I am a SSC member as well and that’s one of my biggest moans re the South Stand Upper tickets. Apparently most are held for Debenture holders and only become available if they aren’t taken up by a few weeks before the game. Last year I took up the 5 match package but was in the upper wing stand above where the visiting fans usually sit. My older son got tickets for the Ireland game two weeks before the game and they were for the central upper stand. So you may get luck with tickets for that area as it’s the best view in the ground. I have just bought individual tickets this time in the west and east stands for a change this time.
  15. You should get a confirmation email almost straight away and it always show’s pending on my credit card as soon as I complete the purchase. Last year there was always some tickets became available near to the date of the match. Sometimes the better seats in the upper stand as well.
  16. I suppose It’s the only game on a Saturday and it’s the first game.
  17. Did all channels do that or just the Beeb? I also remember the religious spot every night ‘Late Call’ which was the inspiration for the Rev I M Jolly. Thankfully we had all night TV by the time I was working overnight in Casinos or I would have had to talk to the other staff in the staff room on my breaks!
  18. I wish we had a video recorder then we could record it and watch it in the morning! I am sure many playground discussions the day after The Young Ones just consisted of us all quoting the previous night’s episode.
  19. TV finishing around 11pm - midnight and then being left with a wee white dot on the screen, there was no breakfast TV either. Pubs being shut on a Sunday and having to go to a Hotel Bar for a drink, if they had a satellite dish you could watch the live English game via Borders TV. Standing outside Radio Rentals on a Saturday afternoon to get the football results.
  20. It should actually be a major selling point for our game that the club which essentially invented the modern passing game is currently doing so well. Unfortunately, as fans of everyone else knows, the media in this country only cares about two teams.
  21. Are you saving up for the Wembley weekend? or even to go to the World Cup Finals.
  22. I totally agree with everything you say but what makes it even worse for me is that this is a new ground. It’s almost as though there has been absolutely no thought whatsoever for any standing spectators. We have better toilet facilities at our Scouts campsite. It’s certainly not a ground I would want to have to go back to. I don’t think it would be able to hold a game with either of the big Glasgow or Edinburgh teams without any temporary stands put in. I would expect they would have to move any game to Easter Road or Tynecastle
  23. At least we got to change ends at halftime. A shame we are a bit further from the goal.
  24. If I was Harry I wouldn’t accept any invitations to any fishing trips in the near future.
  25. Visiting a ground is visiting a ground there shouldn’t be any rules. When I was a lad and was on holiday in London my dad spent a day taking me round a lot of the main football grounds in the city. We went to Chelsea, Fulham, QPR, Arsenal, Spurs and West Ham. At all of the grounds we managed to get inside to see the stadiums and get a photo taken. As we were walking away from Upton Park a car pulled up and Trevor Brooking got out, he was more than happy to have a photo taken. Nowadays you would probably have to pay a silly amount to have an official stadium tour. I later got to see actual games in all of these grounds when I lived in London a few years later.
