  1. Yes , absolutely ! Scotland still played that formation in the early sixties . Two full backs and Billy McNeil , Ian Ure or someone else as the one centre half Scotland might have first played 4 - 4 - 2 against West Germany in 1964 (?). Jim Baxter and John White were the two central midfielders , Wilson and Henderson the wingers (?)
  2. Aberdeen had an absolutely amazing squad in their late seventies , early eighties glory days
  3. Strachans use , or lack , of substitutes had not improved by the end of his time in charge
  4. I do not know whether it was his last goal for Scotland but the one against England was rather impressive. He was still improving !!
  5. I did not think Kenny Miller was that bad. I think he was more suited to the 4 - 5 -1 formation when we were ''away "" from home ( unless you were Levein )
  6. True Could McFadden make the top 30 forwards from say 1960 to present ? Kenny Miller did pretty well for Scotland
  7. If Billy Bremner can be at 7 then Baxter , Grey , Johnstone , MacKay , Murdoch and White should be up there with him
  8. Understandable , but the SFA , BBC or whatever could have provided film clips of some of his predecessors There are some on the internet
  9. The BBC has to give a time limit , if any One of these is garbage , two debatable
  10. Dalglish pre 1986 , definite vote Miller and McLeish possible
  11. Surely Eddie Gray must be the best Scottish winger of ( modern ) times !
  12. As should their away wins over Barcelona , Borussia et al Required ( score ) draw away to Verder Bremen Away victories should count double as they are rare for most Scottish teams although Celtic got a couple of scoreless draws in Italy late sixties / early seventies
  13. Hardly and if so Only applies to the first leg at Elland Road Bertie Auld crocked Mick Jones at Hampden , 11 v. 10
  14. Revenge for Dalglish favouring hansen rather than representing his country at a World Cup
  15. IMHO the most depressing parts were Miller and the other one colliding for the second goal , letting the Soviets walk through us for their first ( Souness ) and the Soviet keeper making a great save when it was 2 - 2
  16. The goal we scored against Brazil was not a counter attack , or such like ! It was very well worked ! Once again 4 - 5 - 1 does not need to be negative I'm just watching back that USSR game and you are talking nonsense. We were completely on top for the first hour and created numerous chances even after we were 1-0 up. And their goals weren't in quick succession - they equalised after an hour and their second goal wasn't until the 84th minute. Seconded !
  17. We did not make many chances against the Netherlands A few people did not appreciate John Collins having Tom Boyd in his greatest ever 11. Have you got your tin hat on ? I thought Tom Boyd was pretty good in one of Scotland s better defences.
