2 weeks now til another league game which has come at the perfect time. Few niggles on a thin squad.
Mcglynn says outright that Tuesday will be an experiment which is quite bold to say in an interview but he’s right. My best guess:
Hogarth
Bisland Donaldson Henderson Sinclair
Yeats Lawal
Nesbitt Oliver Walker
Allan
Would want 2 up top in Oliver and Allan but that leaves Yeats doing central midfield on his own and we know Mcglynn’s thoughts on 2 up top. I really question whether Lawal works at CDM alongside Yeats though so it’s a quandary to solve!
Can Sinclair play left back? I only swapped him and Henderson as Hendo left back does not seem ideal

SO FAR we have all the makings of a title winning team; far more than any start I’ve seen since we’ve been down here. Complete domination now in 4 out of 5 games. Let’s hope it lasts

Looking forward to tomorrows game - it'll be my 1st league game this season.
I'll be heading from West Edinburgh on the 26 bus to the Bellfield brewery for a few pre match refreshments with a fellow Auld Reekie based Bairns fan.
A fine choice, especially with the predicted weather

Definitely not a starter so Yeats keeps his spot for now. Good to have backup

I think we need cover in both the midfield and RB. A loanee RB does that. Its by far the most sensible way to add to the squad atm. For all we're thin, RB is the standout problem position for a single injury or loss of form being a disaster. I agree with you on developing Finn Yeats, but the fact remains he is too exposed atm
Agreed fully. Loan RB solves a whack of squad problems and he might be a better RB than Yeats anyway. No. 1 priority if there is any budget left - even just til January

Like that team but Gary Oliver is a striker too so could play up top with Allan.
You’re right.
Hogarth
Yeats Donaldson Sinclair Mccann
Mcginn
Nesbitt Lawal Walker
Oliver Allan
Could be fun or a pumping, who cares really

My team for ayr
Hogarth
Yeats Donaldson Sinclair Mccann
Mcginn
Nesbiitt Lawal Oliver Walker
Allan
Dont want Allan on his own up top but we literally have 2 strikers

A random thought:
While Lawall scored a good goal during the week, he has never impressed me. He seems to be painfully underweight and, for me at least, is poor at controlling the ball as it comes to him, most times it bounces off him and he is easily dispossessed. Yes he will score a goal here and there after coming on as a sub, but I don't have any confidence he can play a more important roll for us than that.
Would have to agree. Can play a role off the bench for sure but wouldn’t keep him beyond this season.

I agree the question was perfectly legitimate given the performance yesterday.
Rice is also right about some of the players not performing to the levels an Alloa Manager or fans should expect.
However our recent performances and results have been down to a number of issues including very poor tactics.
Even yesterday there were multiple questionable decisions in one single game, Debayo at left back, Devaney being brought on at right back, Cawley left on the bench and even taking off Coulson who looked more dangerous than others who were left on.
The players mistakes were really poor yesterday but Rice has signed a number of them and he sets up the formation/decides on the tactics and he should be able to motivate them.
Agree with that. Rice is in fantasy land if he thought the only problem was individual mistakes yesterday. It was fairly complete domination and extremely comfortable. We’re clearly not world beaters which is why this domination was down to far more than just individual errors - poor from Rice imo

Rice interview is an absolute beauty.

Haha... You may have caught me asking the manager about potentially changing formations because I know he always wants his two up front. I'm aware that opinions are like arseholes - everyone's got one and yours stinks... so was tempted to not put that up as I don't think it's a great look for an interview.
Sitting doing the highlights now so I might not have time tonight before I go to bed. But personally all the manager chat is just anathema to me because the proof is what happens on the park. If they win youre happy, if they lost managers not happy. None of it is massively interesting and it's often tired cliche. I like to keep the post match thoughts on those safe lines
Think he'd have given me the Jim McLean treatment if I mentioned Taggart on the left and Deveney on the right tbhInterested in Rice’s thoughts tbf so if you can be arsed please do upload that interview tonight!
Have listened to a fair few of his Alloa interviews and interviewer always comes across well - informed and not too pushy but obviously knowledgable about what fans may want answered. Rice seems a tricky customer

Spencer barely left first gear but controlled the midfield for about 85 mins of the game. He was missold to me as someone who just sits too - he can and does do more than that, popping up in forward areas and taking shots - so much more dynamic than Mcginn
Felt a tad sorry for Brad McKay in the dugout area sitting on his arse and only used as a shoulder to carry Miller off - looked a lonely job. Hope he finds a club in next week.

Barely an ounce of praise out of craigen btw - 3-0 up and a Falkirk corner and they’re talking about how well Alloa have dealt with balls into their box

Performance been better than v Stirling imo. It’s clear we are now demanding that we get that 3rd goal to kill games off

Watching on Alba with a few beers down south. 0-2 half time and absolutely dominating - completely one way traffic. I could get used to this Alba lark. Ultras in fine voice

Didn’t think much of it when the group was created but the ultras really have made a huge difference. Got the crowd buzzing today and maybe even pushed the team onto that all important 3rd goal.
Performance like that will create that buzz and the game is done after 45 mins, meaning we can rest key players - more of the same at home.
Alloa have had a fairly poor start and we should be demanding 3 points on Saturday

A shame that the Challenge Cup got rid of a few English sides. Seem to remember Borehamwood recently being in it. Much more attractive day out than Bala or Coleraine

Really impressed with the ultras group, looks great on the highlights

That penalty is an absolute disgrace. The decision is bad enough, as it hits a cove arm and not ours, but the manner of it is the real problem. The ref is at the corner of the other side of the box, looking through around 14 bodies. The fact that he gives it should genuinely cause serious alarm bells, and I don’t say that lightly. He has ignored his lineman who has a clear view of it and who wanted to talk to the referee. The club has this footage and I’d hope there would be an email sent to question the process that went on there.

Mid way through the 2nd game of the season and we’re already baying for blood. Honest tae christ, get a grip.
4 points on the board, +3 goal difference and we’ve taken a point away from home against a team likely to be a promotion rival. All in all a decent start to the season.
There’s 34 games left lads. It’s gonna be a long old season if we want the manager sacked every time it’s 0-0 at half time or we go a goal down in a game.
Aye probably right. Got to think that being 5-0 down at half time to a promotion rival undoes a lot of hard work that I would generally give credit for. 2 points behind a title rival after 2 games also does that - no excuses left

Pressure on Mcglynn next few weeks absolutely huge now.

Vaguely agree with the sentiment and do think what we have seen is teething issues. They may be volunteers however people are paying a decent amount of money per month for the service - it isn’t free.
The issue yesterday of a laptop having auto updates on forcing it to crash for the first 30 mins is not acceptable. It is a human error which the guys themselves will know and I’m sure will be rectified - when these teething issues are sorted I think the service will be good. Holding hands up and saying we ballsed it up but will learn is all I need to know and I’m very thankful that these guys are giving up their time to do it.
