Does anyone believe/demand that? We are no longer competitive with Cove, Airdrie, Montrose, Queens Park. Peterhead have looked a far better team than us twice in a row. We can no longer beat Clyde. A mild uptick in performances and results (similar to the instant impact Rice has made on a worse Alloa squad than ours) would now be acceptable to almost all Falkirk fans, including myself.

If Airdrie go up we’d obviously have zero chance of getting him. Others would probably be in for him or he’d want a crack at the Champ with Airdrie. That’s a much more attractive proposition than coming to us. However, if Airdrie don’t manage to get up, there’s a chance he might think he’s taken Airdrie as far as he can. Close last year, close again this year, but no cigar - especially with a tougher team coming down from the champ and Kelty, alloa and queens park probably stronger next year. A decent transfer budget and higher personal wages may entice him. The probability is that it wouldn’t, however.

The “big club” stuff is just abstract nonsense. Doesn’t mean anything. What is important in football is budgets and potential. I know you believe Rennie has done okay, I think his time has been a disgrace. Almost all of this squad will go on to play for teams higher than us in the league currently. There are far fewer football manager jobs than there are football managers. Just by chance I was sat next to a fairly recent ex falkirk management team member at another game, on the day of our 6-0 drubbing by Queens Park. I joked to him if he wanted a crack at the job that’s about to be available, noting no one on earth would want the job. He replied there’d be absolutely zero shortage of applicants.

If you believe the truth is arrogance, that is your problem, not ours. Do you think Man City are good because they fostered a great team spirit over half a decade? In general. I’m afraid to say, clubs with more money will finish higher than teams with less money.

The idea it would take someone like Murray the same amount of time at Falkirk to build a vaguely competitive team as it did at Airdrie is just an utter lol. We probably spent more and brought more players in in January than he’s been able to at Airdrie in the last 3 transfer windows combined. We have just had jobbers as managers who’ve spunked it on completely the wrong type of player/area. No Falkirk fan expects the world. Being able to beat more than just East Fife and Dumbarton over the course over a full season really shouldn’t have to be a 4 year plan.

If you are an FSS member, go to one of the 3 upcoming live events, and ask the question? If there answer is yes, let them know that that decision alone shows they are not fit for purpose and you will not be voting for them again. I don’t think a tenner a month should get you any more say than that tbh.

Any unbiased, objective analysis of Rennie’s time would tell you he has massively underperformed.

My fear with the “long term plan” is for when it all goes tits up. Every manager we’ve appointed for the last 10 years has come with the promise of a long term plan. So, e.g, we appoint Rennie. Because I don’t think he’s any good tbh, we find ourselves 5th or 6th in October next season. Do the new board think they can handle the pressure of the fans demanding change? Not sure they realise how poisonous it could (rightly or wrongly) get. If they and Rennie plan to ride that out then good luck to them. My bet is Rennie is gone by December next season if we do appoint him. Only thing I could see going for them, would be because of how useless we’ve been for 3 years, being 3rd/4th in the table would be just about acceptable to this fanbase. Our expectations have been lowered from binning M and M when we were top, and binning McKinnon when we were 3 points off top (M and M decision was definitely correct FWIW), to coming 3rd or 4th being just about acceptable.

Easiest one to get rid of IMO will be Hetherington. Alloa will be happy to take him back and he'll know himself he's not popular here.
