  1. Also are the metal detectors really necessary at all by security? Fully grown adults getting questioned what’s in their pockets like they’re wee guys Even wee small things like closing one of the exits for the home fans if they needed the toilet or food mid game just seemed totally unnecessary. Everyone having to walk all the way round to the one exit. It’s these things the club need to get better at to improve the fan experience and keep people coming back
  2. Let’s be honest, there’s literally no QP fan that’s on here saying we’ve been anything less than dross, we woke up a while ago Veldman has took a hounding on here and other social media platforms and rightly so, alongside Beuker for the recruitment or lack of recruitment so to say. Not seen a qp fan base turn on a manger so quickly but I’m not surprised given the performances Must be a minority regarding the mediocre teams comment because we’ve fully deserved to have lost each of the last 4 games
  3. Quite simply we’ll be relegated if we continue to play anything like this. It’s only September but every single team in this league know to play against us and the coaching staff are either too arrogant or blinded to adapt to the opposition. At 2-1, despite the dreadful start, you surely just try and stay somewhat compact as there’s still loads of time to get a result but no, the brainless high line tactic was exposed to its maximum and Fox was like the invisible man when Rose faced him 1v1. The 4th goal is just diabolical all round from Fox Even at 4-2, there’s time to at least try and attempt to gain an unlikely draw but we’ve shot ourselves in the foot instantly yet again with some outrageously bad decision making from McPherson and tizzard playing everyone onside. In terms of the goals conceded, I don’t think I’ve seen as many self inflicted goals in one match. We have defenders who’s first priority isn’t defending and more so, the lack of energy or desire to get the ball back was extremely concerning. Completely lifeless, almost as if the players are frightened to bits if they do anything that’s not part of this ‘philosophy’. I’d love to know how much these players truly buy into this system Serious question marks on Veldman now and whether he’s got it in him to admit something is seriously wrong with his setup and whether he’s willing to adapt it. You can still play nice football with a defensive structure. Whether he’s got the credentials to implement that remains to be seen in any form Only positive I can take is that Paton is continuing to hit the back of the net. 9 goals in all comps already playing in this system is incredibly impressive so fair play to him. Hepburn’s goal was belter but again I think Veldman is misusing him and Thomas. Thomas is clearly better on the left and Hepburn is miles better on the right.
  4. Yeah that’s as bad a first half as I’ve seen since we turned pro. Worst bit about it was I’m not even surprised. Had Dunfermline been more clinical, we’d of had a similar result. Early doors but veldman isn’t up to it I’m afraid. I can accept daft tactics for one match but he simply isn’t learning from his mistakes. Shoddy recruitment bar Paton and blind faith in young players just for the sake of saying we have young players. The defensive setup is the worst I’ve ever seen it at this level
  5. In fairness, Thomas has been very consistent since he joined us, understand that wasn’t the case prior and probably a massive factor as to why he’s still a championship player in his prime years. Just typical he picked one of his worst, if not worst game against yourselves
  6. He played off neither side on Saturday just there. We stuck him in the middle and was completely ineffective. At his best, he’s tremendous off the left side, linking up with Tommy Robson but we’ve proceeded to stop playing them both on the left side at the same time now and have since lost every game. Tactical masterclass
  7. Thomson was the only one who could come out of that game with any sort of credibility. Even the usual ones who play very well like Spong and Thomas looked out of sorts. Dunfermline fans mentioned on here before about Thomas’ game being nullified under Peter Grant due to being placed in the middle of the park. Typically, yesterday was the first time I’ve seen Thomas in a more central role and didn’t look anywhere near as comfortable or effective. Hope that’s the last time we see that formation. Harsh on Fox I’d say. He had a dreadful end to last season but he’s easily been one of our better performers this season. I think he looks almost back to his usual self. Everyone was pretty much useless yesterday in fairness
  8. Good on the interviewer asking that type of question at the very least. Too often in the past the questions are very safe. The answer from Veldman is incredibly concerning however. I’m hoping it was a case of not wanting to openly admit on camera, depth being a massive issue and he’s trying to sort that in the background In any scenario, we should not be scrambling around for players towards the end of September when we had an entire summer. It’s poor stuff
  9. I think for Beuker it’s a case of either underestimating the competition in our league or overestimating the initial impact the youth players could make. What’s the point in putting such a large quantity of these young guys on the bench, knowing they’re not going to make an impact in the immediate moment. That’s not the young guys faults, they’re quite clearly extremely talented players who I have no doubts will be great in the future for us but the bench should be supplemented with a share of 1st team ready players, not teenagers who aren’t even close to hitting 20 years old yet. I don’t think I’ve looked at our bench once this season and thought wow at least ‘X’, ‘Y’ and ‘Z’ are on the bench if things aren’t going to plan But hey at least football journalists can rave about us on Twitter about having the youngest squad in the league though
  10. It’s a shame cause it’s a talented first eleven but Ive blamed Veldman for every defeat in the league so far; Partick - Robson after having an excellent performance against Arbroath at home, Veldman proceeds to drop him in favour of 17 year old Bruce who despite having massive potential, is still miles away from Robson’s level and that decision single handedly lost us this match after Bruce was crucified against Lawless and McMillan. Veldman’s fault Raith- An absurd decision to bring on a triple sub of young guys, taking off experienced players at 2-1 up playing with 10 men against a very good Rovers side in the 80th minute. Unsurprisingly, we Chuck the game away. Veldman’s Fault Today- Veldman’s fault I know Veldman will be learning as much as the players but I’m really struggling to understand his thought process in recent weeks. It’s all well good seeing a nice wee intricate pass in between the midfield but if we’re scared to shoot at the edge of the box in preference of scoring the perfect goal then what’s the point
  11. Pathetic tactics from Veldman. That was beyond naive playing such a high defensive line. This isn’t youth football veldman is working in anymore, you’re up against a talented full time side who for the last 12 months are consistently winning games of football. Genuinely haven’t seen a match where a team got in behind us so often. Fair play to Dunfermline, they looked organised and threatening. Summers in particular looks an excellent player Barry Hepburn playing striker ? Dom Thomas playing in the middle for large periods? Aaron Healy who clearly isn’t match sharp playing 90 minutes ? Bench incredibly weak with no sign of signings on the horizon. Im not at the concerned stage yet but a couple more weeks of similar performances and results and we’re in trouble PLEASE SIGN SOMEONE
  12. You’d surely like to think Veldman and Beuker are still trying to add a couple players this month. I thought since there was a 14 day period between league matches that we would have maybe had a new signing for tomorrow. Depth was an issue for me last season but it’s considerably lighter nowadays and already seems an issue. Although I didn’t think he was championship ready as of yet, still think loaning Williamson out to Cove was a stupid decision.
  13. I liked him at QP. Solid but unspectacular type who wouldn’t ever have a bad game but not the type to single handedly grab the game by the scruff of the neck. Him coming back from a long term injury was key a factor on gaining promotion to the championship imo. There will be games you might necessarily notice him but he’s perfect for games where you might be up against it. Solid signing
  14. Jack Thomson looks a natural at centre back in all honesty. He’s an excellent midfielder at this level but doesn’t seem to possess the goals to really reach the next level at this moment which is frustrating as he’s fantastic driving through the midfield and one of our most intelligent players on the ball. The biggest factor in Thomson playing centre back is that it seems to have sparked life into Jack turner now. Once Thomson moved back against Raith, Turner played a more advanced role and has now scored 2 in his last 2 and seems to be involved in the game a lot more frequently. We badly need goals from midfield so it’s a promising sign
  15. Honestly buzzing to see Gilmour kick on again over the last 8-9 months. I was really skeptical that his Norwich spell ruined the spark and oozing confidence he had on the ball which made him so special when he initially came on to the international scene. In fairness, the skepticism was justified as his Scotland performances were suffering in that period. Even at the time of signing, Norwich seemed an incredibly odd move for his football development considering their continuous failure in the premier league Regular game and trust put on him in a side that plays terrific football will be doing him wonders now. He’s completely different to any midfielder we’ve got and genuinely think he’s got the potential to be world class if managed properly
  16. That is utterly terrifying that Grant played him as a DM Would love to know his logic in that
  17. You may well be correct with all of that. I’ve absolutely no clue what particular incidents he’s been involved with in the past that’s resulted in championship being his ceiling as of right now given his talent but just going from his time with us, the interviews from the younger guys in our squad, they’ve raved about Thomas’ leadership and professionalism in the dressing room which has been rewarded with the captaincy of the club. Think the penny has dropped now and he’s matured from previous years.
  18. Genuinely don’t think I’d swap Thomas for almost anyone in the championship except for 1 or 2 players at most so will be interesting to see how your guy plays
  19. My bad, might not have worded that as clearly As in a thank you to the qp supporters for not playing in those matches. We were a poor team that season and had Thomas played, I wouldn’t have fancied our chances at all having seen him play for us the last year. Tbh I don’t even know if he chose not to play or he simply fell out with Hughes. The latter seems more likely given hughes history of losing the plot
  20. A Dom Thomas winner as a nice thank you for not playing in the playoffs against us when we got promotion would be lovely
  21. Whether it’s a red or not, that’s arguably the most inaccurate description I’ve seen regarding Charlie Fox as a player. Aye he struggled massively last third of the season (as did everyone tbf) and his borderline assault of a red card at starks last season probably helped reinforce your description of him. There was also an adaptation period in the early cup matches regarding style of play but he’s generally excellent on the ball and has brilliant recovery pace which are arguably his biggest assets. Would go as far to say he’s one of best ball playing centre backs in the league. He just had to get his confidence back on the ball after Coyle destroyed it. Interesting how others see players, game of opinions I guess
  22. I can only think about looking up the table once we can become detached from 9th and 10th by a considerable margin. Early days of course but it seems to be a bit of a circus at Inverness and I’m not convinced with Ayr at all
  23. I like Hepburn. Naturally he’ll get attention from opposition fans a bit more considering the club he’s came from but he’s a very talented boy and he’s done well overall so far but he’s incredibly lightweight. Having someone like him on the pitch with 10 men against an experienced side away from home, he was always going to struggle Aye Spong has been our best signing so far IMO. Was worried we couldn’t replace Mal Boateng but I’d goes as far to say he may end up being even better than him. Thankfully compared to Boateng, he’s on a permanent contract. You can tell by the way he plays, he’s been brought up in the Brighton academy
  24. I dread the day Paton or Thomas get injured. We’re absolutely done if either are out for any extended period across the season Makes loaning out Williamson utterly bizzare
