  1. Can’t believe he’s only 16 tbh, an absolute unit. I’m assuming heraghty might be out the picture now unless he’s picked up an injury of some sort
  2. Enjoyed getting a first proper look at the youngsters against what looked like a fairly strong livi side. Can’t say I was too over the moon to see a reserve side listed prior to game considering we were getting charged a tenner but I was pleasantly surprised with what I watched in hindsight. Can’t say the game consisted of many goal bound chances for either side but the standard of the youngsters was really promising. You can tell these guys have been coached in a certain manner which can admittedly be very heart stopping in terms of the area of the pitch you might lose the ball but equally when it pays off, it’s very easy on the eye Biggest positives for me were Callan McKenna in goals and Lewis Reid at the back. McKenna particularly stood out with his distribution which was incredibly impressive and some of his saves were equally excellent. I think he’s got a massive future from first viewing and it’s easy to see why he’s Scotland’s under 17 keeper. Lewis Reid to me looks ready made for first team football despite being 18. Built like a brick and solid distribution with the ball as like everyone else Healy looked bright in attacking midfield role, he looked a lot more comfortable than he did out wide last season. Hepburn looks like a positive addition and with the likes of Thomas and Paton up top with him, I’m incredibly excited to see what he can bring
  3. Not that it counts for much but Bannon being given the number 4 suggests he’s going to play a fairly influential role in the side for the upcoming season. Great to see as I thought he was fantastic last season. Looked like a 19 year old going on 28 with the level of maturity shown in his game
  4. Felt quite indifferent towards Oakley by the end of the season. Started off really positively but seem to regress (as did everyone else in fairness) quite rapidly. Stopped going forward with the ball and I struggled to forgive the manner in which he gave the penalty away at Morton. Completely sold the jerseys that day There’s definitely a player there and maybe as a young guy, he struggled to showcase his full ability when everyone around him was underperforming
  5. Good to see Bruce getting minutes but that right back slot needs sorting. Would rather be patient and find the right player as we went through far too many right backs that weren’t up to it last season Makes it all the more confusing as to why Davidson was released. Hopefully Beuker has a target ready
  6. Yeah that’s him I’m sure, no clue what he’s like as a player tbh. Never made an appearance for us
  7. I’m fairly convinced one of the trialists you had was a boy called Liam McQuaid ? Left our youth team in the summer but seen a pic on Twitter that looked very alike to him
  8. I see Jack Thomson is listed as the captain for the game against Ross county. Think he’ll be the permanent one ?
  9. Granted 5-2 didn’t really reflect the game, would hardly of said it was an incredibly freak result. Plus at that point in the season, we were scoring goals for fun. We were just clinical on the day. Could of easily been 6 when Thomas smacked the post when going for the hatrick Curious to see how you guys get on this season. Seems like as always, you’ve got nice technical players but Hamilton may prove to be the difference this time. Interested to see how you fit all the creative guys in
  10. Worst home kit I’ve seen from QP. It’s bogging
  11. Josh McPake is a weird one. Got some sort of competent footballing ability which was shown a couple times across last season for us but it’s been reported across various platforms that there’s an attitude issue. Was a regular until the new year time and there was talk of him signing permanently for us in the January window. I was always unconvinced by him even when he did show glimpses of talent (the goal against yourselves at hampden being one of them) He isn’t particularly fast or skilful, he seems to have one move which is simply cutting inside from the left and having a pop at goal. Once teams figured that out, it was like having a man down and ultimately he faded away towards the end of the season. Barely featured except for a bizzare appearance out of nowhere against Dundee in the biggest game of our modern history which unsurprisingly, he did hee haw It’s probably now or never for McPake. A bad season in league 1 (if he signs) might foresee a long term career in part time football. It’s a worrying trend that he’s had about 5 or 6 loan spells and none of them have came out with many if any glowing reviews.
  12. Understandable to be unsure on us. There’s an element of risk that these young guys could be utter dung with the lack of 1st team experience. I personally don’t see that happening whatsoever (I have an incredible amount of trust in Beuker) although I’m not naive enough to think we’re going have finished products straight away. I think there will be some sort of adaption period for these guys in the initial stages of the season but given we’ve handed 2&3 year deals suggests there’s some real potential in these guys and it’s not about the here and now. I don’t think promotion is a necessity for veldman this year I don’t think we’ll be near the title but I’d like to see an identity in our style of play that’s been so widely talked about across the club and a solid play off push. We seen sprinkles of it last season (particularly 1st half of the season) but by all accounts, it completely fell apart under Coyle and reverted to hoof ball nonsense. We’ve got some quality players at the club and a frontline of Thomas, Paton and Hepburn is as exciting a frontline (on paper at least) as you’ll see in the league. Hopefully it plays out on the pitch when the real stuff begins
  13. Can’t say I was a fan of him at any point tbh but in fairness he actually looked semi competent in the limited game time he got at the start of the season. Scored a cracking goal against Forfar in the cup early doors last season Mid table league 1 is probably his level and like you said, he’s been injured for considerable periods so obviously that’s not helped his case in terms of minutes on the pitch
  14. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Callan McKenna in or around the match day squads aswell. Was the sub keeper for the last few games of the season and is an absolute unit despite being only 17 I’d be looking to loan Jaques Heraghty somewhere in league 2 for a season to see what he’s made of. 20 years old now, needs to start getting games at first team level.
  15. Would still like to see a right back, another back up option up top and maybe cover out wide if Thomas or Hepburn were out for whatever reason. Wouldn’t want to rely on Healy for that just yet despite how much I rate him
  16. Longstaff came to QP before Beuker joined the club so I doubt the scouting and due diligence on potential new players was as thorough as it is nowadays. It seemed recruitment that league 1 campaign was pick a player and hope for the best I’ve listened to how Beuker scouts guys to join QP and he leaves no stone unturned. He mentioned on Saturday at lesser about not necessarily signing the top individual players but the ones that fit best for the style of play and the team as a whole. I’m confident we won’t be longstaffed again
  17. Lineup looking like this currently Ferrie ? Bannon Fox Robson Turner Thomson Spong Thomas Paton Hepburn Right back a glaring position needing filled, hopefully beuker has something lined up his sleeve. Can’t say I know anything about the new guys other than Paton as he’s recognised in the league below Very young team I must say, hope we know what we’re doing with new guys coming from down south
  18. 3 year deal suggests there’s high hopes for Turner, excited to see what he brings Heard rumours of a couple of guys coming in from Southampton(one obviously being turner)
  19. I’ve no doubts Beuker hired Coyle but I look at it as a stop gap until the right personnel became available, ie Veldman. Coyle was never going to be long term I felt. At the time of Coyle’s appointment, Beuker had been in the dugout for 3 months. It was an embarrassing situation which needed sorting before the season drew to a close You look at Coyle and the way ex players from his managerial career talk about his training. Small sided games and little to no shape. Just felt like even from when Coyle was first appointed, it didn’t seem like the type of guy Beuker would massively get on with. Ultimately Coyle standing down has most likely solidified that theory
  20. The idea of selling young talents on a regular or even semi regular basis probably won’t come to fruition for a few more years. Beuker signed a very long term deal with the club (10 years I think?) which suggests to me that under the guidance of all the other Dutch coaches within the academy and first team, it might take 4-5 years before we see any sign that his methods of player development is working. I feel like this is the first season where beuker has really got a grip of the club on his vision and can now finally implement his philosophy. We’ve struggled in the full time era to find a manager that shares the vision or has the patience to follow beuker’s ideas but thankfully now it seems like veldman is the guy to do so and I’m incredibly excited I was disappointed when Coyle left but reading between the lines, his constant message in post match interviews of “it’s not about the here and now, it’s building for the future” was nonsense and completely contrasting to how he really wanted things to work in terms of recruitment etc
  21. Heard he’ll be released from his contract Probably best for all parties. Liability all season. A shame as he seemed a really nice guy and gave us a couple cracking moments against thistle and Inverness with his headers
  22. Blaine Rowe opinions? Think from what’s been gathered, he’s currently on trial with us ? Any good for yourselves ?
  23. That’s longridge officially announced for another season. There’s no doubt he’s a decent character to have around the club but purely from a football perspective I’m shocked he’s still here. Take away one impressive sub appearance against Inverness, his legs look gone at this level.
