  1. Across the season he was pretty disappointing in all honesty. Lived off one good month in October but outwith that, he certainly didn’t look championship standard. Not the quickest, can’t really beat a man and doesn’t offer much defensively either. The only move he’s got is cutting inside from the left and having a pop which worked a couple times but teams caught on to it very quickly. Been a fair few reports about poor attitude also which probably hasn’t done himself any favours League 1 would be his level I’d say
  2. Season done and wildly it’s only a short 8 weeks until the new season kicks off. Incredibly curious to see what the recruitment will be like this summer. Beuker and Coyle will hopefully have gained a strong idea on what’s needed to do well in this league. Coyle hinted strength in depth being an issue last night in his interview. Totally agree with that if I’m being honest. I’m going to assume he’s hinting about the likes of Thomas and Savoury being off the boil and having nobody adequate to replace them. I think there’s going to be a fair few departures, more than I probably anticipated a few months back I think I can see the following leaving. Including the loans also Shields Henderson Boateng (sigh) Mcpake Oakley Kilday (injuries seem to be returning again and at 31, I would rather not risk that) Brown Longridge Moore Fox (head seems in another place based on performances the last few months) Biggar Thats not even including the potential sale of Savoury and it would not surprise me to see Eze away aswell. Massively down the pecking order in what was a horrendous defence
  3. Don’t worry I’m aware Players have let themselves down big time but there’s serious question marks over Coyle’s tactics in recent times. Hasn’t even looked close to finding a solution to the bad form. If anything it’s got considerably worse We’ve made massive strides this season on the pitch but we need a couple horrible physical players in key areas of the pitch next season to toughen us up. We’re So soft it’s incredible
  4. For 75% of the season we were genuinely excellent. We always had defensive frailties but we were ruthless in attack. We lose Simon Murray and replace him with Connor shields and Euan Henderson(shudders). Shields reminds me of Oli Burke, great athlete but actually has no football IQ in him, he’s a headless chicken. We lose at home to Arbroath in March and we have just totally collapsed, no other way about it. Entire defence needs binned pronto
  5. There’s a 10 year deal with QP and haughey where he’s involved in providing money for each season. He’s got a strong affiliation to the club and he’s been involved in around even in the amateur days. The job is to become sustainable after those 10 years. Could easily go to pot but we’d be in the lowland league by now without giving it a go
  6. Quite clearly some players have chucked it. Great finish from Graham but criminal to leave him free in the box over and over again. Didn’t expect to go through but the manner of it totally unacceptable, easily could be 4 or 5. Thankfully it’ll only be 45 more minutes of that defence playing for us again (hopefully)
  7. I really enjoy the tactic of leaving the 6’4 striker with 17 odd goals free in the box at every cross
  8. I’d imagine there will be a host of clubs in league 1 after him. Heard Kelty were interested in him also but I really do a think an Airdrie type side would be perfect for him, especially if they fail to gain promotion. Really attacking side No idea who we’ll recruit this summer but it’ll need to be good once again to replicate a high placed finish. 5 loans returning back to parent clubs, 7 or 8 out of contract where I see most bar 1 or 2 getting released. Potential for Savoury getting sold. Could see an upwards of 8-9 additions this summer I feel. Not seen any links to players as of yet but I’d imagine that’ll come quickly if we’re to lose on Friday What’s the script with Cove, are they still gonna pursue for a hybrid system even though you guys are in league 1 or has that been scrapped for the time being ? From watching Cove against ourselves and Dundee match on TV, think the squad is desperately needing some legs throughout the squad.
  9. I can understand why people love to hate Owen Coyle’s interviews. Even at the best of times, his comments about games to put it lightly can be…deluded. Coyle’s been around the game long enough to not genuinely know what he’s talking about. I’ve always had the opinion that he tries to place as little accountability and pressure on the players, which is fine when we’re winning games but in recent months, I really wanted him at times to just say we were outright rotten on the day when merited However, I think we would of broke league records for goals scored if we took even 50% of the goalscoring chances that Coyle states we apparently have at times
  10. From what I’ve heard, there’s potentially been some off field issues he’s had to deal with throughout the season. Still convinced from a playing perspective that Laurie Ellis wiped the confidence out of Brown when he stupidly played him out wide for a couple of months. Was never the same influence on a game from then on, even after he was back in the centre of midfield. Can’t see a future a QP, hope he gets a decent move elsewhere. Potential to be one the best players in league 1 if played in the right system
  11. Equally he’s the sort of guy we should be selling for the right price. We’re going to need to create a model where we can use guys like Savoury as an example to potential new players of what opportunities can arise if they come and play for us. We need to be sustainable long term and ultimately this is done by bringing in decent fees. For what it’s worth, Savoury hasn’t kicked a ball in 2 months, his form has dipped massively unfortunately. Thomas for me is far more important
  12. You’ve just got to laugh at this point watching that defence. Never seen such a soft group of players, even in the amateur era we never gifted goals like that. I said we should bin our defence after the Dundee game and tonight solidified that. Annoyingly we look more ourselves in an attacking sense but what’s the point when you defend like that. Criminal we defend like that from a set piece. Tie still isn’t over but no chance we go through. Only positive was Dom thomas who was outstanding tonight. Looked much more like himself again End the season now please
  13. Been linked with EK and Kelty over the last week. Think he’s had some off field issues this season but it’s a shame how it’s panned out for him. He absolutely has the ability to play in the championship but needs regular game time at this stage in his career to do so and I can’t see it happening at QP in all honesty.
  14. Had to time reflect on last night and the season on a whole and ultimately we just look totally burnt out physically and mentally. Not to mention selling our best player in January hindered our chances massively but that doesn’t account for some fairly chronic individual performances of late. You’re never going to gain or deserve promotion if you win one game out of 12 against Ayr, Morton and Dundee(didn’t even come close to competing in some of those games). We’ve known from day 1 of the season that the defence was going to be a common issue and ultimately we’ve paid the price for it. The goals conceded last night and the last 2 months have been embarrassing and despite scoring twice and the goal of his life, that was probably the worst defensive display I’ve ever seen from Charlie Fox. If we’re to give the top half of the table another go next season, 3 out of the back 4 need changed which includes 2 new centre half’s and a right back. I understand having talented young players but it needs to be supplemented by some no nonsense experienced pros who know how to play against your Morton’s, Dundee’s etc. Had the league season lasted another 2 weeks, we’d 100% not be in a playoff spot. Calum Ferrie has saved us on multiple occasions this season and despite the team conceding a fair whack of goals, it would have looked a dreadful statistic had Ferrie not been in goals. Did we bottle it? As much as you can dance around it, we really did make a pigs ear of it. 7 points clear in March with Arbroath at home and Raith away the next two matches and we crumbled big style and sadly never recovered. I personally don’t think we’ll get past thistle in the playoffs and maybe the lack of expectation may help the guys through the next two legs now but realistically this squad and infrastructure isn’t anywhere close to being ready for the premiership. Think we’ll see a fairly different looking squad next season (for the better hopefully) Fortunately we’re in a position financially where I don’t expect us to do an Arbroath and implode the following season but it’s looking increasingly likely that it’ll be an incredibly tougher league. Dunfermline will be up there battling for playoffs. Recruitment needs to be spot on Even as a fan myself, I’ve found the season to be quite draining particularly 2nd half of the season which all comes down to playing at Stenny and the weekly Friday fixtures. Really hoping it can go back to usual 3pm Saturday kick off times again. Despite the season being incredibly exciting, it has took a fair bit of shine off it
  15. I wouldn’t be adverse to keeping Williamson in the side. Plenty of players in the current lineup play poorly and play week in week out. Why go back to a system that’s been failing miserably the last 6 weeks. We need to get off the stabilisers and just go for it. Williamson with a decent run of games will be good for us. Whether he’s going to get that amount of time to do so at QP I’m unsure but I think he’s been unfortunate to be behind absolute haddies like Kenny, Henderson and McPake. Shields up top on his own isn’t effective as he drifts wide far too often. Would be a stroll for the Morton defence if we were to revert back to that
  16. Cove were admittedly absolutely dreadful and people can slate their style of football all they want but Dundee really were poor. Cove had a game plan and Dundee played into their hands firing balls in the air for guys who thrive in those scenarios. Some of those cove players cannot run whatsoever, surprised how little was played on the ground. Some of the crossing was awful, lost count how many times they over hit crosses. Surprised Mcmullan got as little time on the pitch as he did, excellent any time I see him play. Noticed he’s out of contract, would certainly take him at QP if he’s not got something lined up already
  17. I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed a season where so many results have went our way. For once we need to take advantage of this and win the league now, no excuses whatsoever. Amazing that we’ve guaranteed the last league game to have meaning to it but I really would love to go into it knowing we could win the league with a draw. Although no denying I can breathe slightly easier for todays game
  18. Think injuries have just killed him. Must be so disheartening to go from a very decent premiership full back to an absolute dud in the championship at only 28. Think anyone’s love for football would disappear in that scenario Massive flop for us also, didn’t get anywhere near the team
  19. Vigurs cannot move. Looks incredibly unfit In fact, the entire cove side look so slow
  20. If we’re going to become a sustainable model to at least championship level over a number of years, we will need to consider that we’ll need to sell on the likes of a Savoury every season or so. There is no doubt we’ll receive offers for him this summer
  21. Kilday, Davidson, Biggar, Nicol, Longridge, Moore, Fox and Yeats are all out of contract Realistically I’d only be looking to renew Kilday, Davidson and Fox although I can’t see Fox staying around next year Taking into account that we’ll also have 5 loans returning to their parent clubs, I can see our squad looking very different next season no matter what league we’re in
  22. Whether Eze was injured or not, he won’t be starting any games from now til the end of the season unless Bannon or Fox get injured I’d say. I think he’s lost the trust of Coyle now and there isn’t any excuse about fitness or sharpness which Coyle had used on many post match interviews throughout the season to back the guy up. He seems a really nice guy but he’s been the biggest disappointment in terms of expectation by a long way. 13 caps for Nigeria, made preliminary squad for the 2018 World Cup squad, in his prime years. You’re thinking we’ve signed a gem but it’s just been polar opposite. A shame really Bannon on the other hand is a star in the making. He’s one who could quite comfortably be a fixture in the side next season with the potential to sell on.
  23. Incredible we’re actually still in this race. Been hoaching for about 7 weeks now and yet we’re 2 victories from the title. I’m still not convinced we’ll take this to the last day. We’re dreadful against Morton and I was really hoping they’d have nothing to play for by next week. We’re in the playoffs worst case scenario so the players should be bursting a gut to try get these wins. Exciting times nonetheless
  24. Gaston - Arbroath Grimshaw - Morton Sweeney - Dundee Baird - Morton Robson - QP (Milne has been terrible against us despite how good he’s probably been) Boateng - QP Turner - Partick Savoury - QP Thomas - QP Akinyemi- Ayr Mcmullan - Dundee
  25. Somehow we can still win this league Please just win
