Last season our average crowd was 1700. That was with 2 games capped at 500. 3/4 midweek fixtures. We sold 1200 season tickets. Our last game on a Friday night v Morton was a dead rubber and we still got 3200 at Gayfield for it. Crowds have grown and the town has backed the club the change Is incredible to see.
There was 1200 at the game against you on Saturday and 900 for a Wednesday night game against Cowden. Both good crowds for League Cup matches. Our hospitality now takes around 280 and at £100 a head it sells out every home league match. You will have seen some of the changes to Gayfield if you popped along on Saturday. The board have to take huge credit
That’s one part of it, the other side of that is league prize money. We made a profit of over £300k for financial year 20/21 and had £865k in the bank at the end of that. Next years accounts should be even healthier after finishing 2nd last season. We got £475k for finishing 2nd in the Championship while Airdrie for example got £87k for 3rd place in L1, that’s nearly £400k more.
We do have both the crowds and revenue and are now effectively a mid Championship level club running with an extremely strong part time footballing budget
Cheers for further proving my point.

Lots of players are wanting moves down south, but when it doesn't materialise, they will try for clubs here, also heard Murray say in his Raith interviews, clubs could be signing players once the Premier sports group stages are over, so hopefully that means some movement.
Aye even teams in the championship bringing in Premier league loanees will see some folk on the move. We didn't finish our first half of the season business till September last year. Footballs just different now.

Just want us to win the league looks like the only way for us, play offs not to prosperous over the years. Would be good if we could bring in Moffat that would make some difference.
Same here bud.
And agree from what I've heard Moffat would be a great asset if he's one of the 3.

@ShineOnYouCrazyDiamonds showing us all the adult alternative to "enough of this ITK pish, give us names"
Haha I honestly didn't ask names as I don't like the "I know something you don't know stuff"
Hoping one is Moffat but again honestly not sure.

Are you implying it’s the same parent club for all three players? Given another poster hinted at one of the signings, should we expect three youngsters swapping hoops for diamonds?
Maybe...
I wouldn't want to jinx it , and end up in a west ham striker situation

Really hoping for a left back, Centre half and forward this week. It's getting to the beyond a joke stage now. All well and fine people saying trust the process, but as it stands we must have the smallest senior team squad in the league.
Should be 3 coming in as someone mentioned. Meant to sign end of last week but the parent club was late with the paper work before folk cry "shambles" at us. Was talking to someone from the club at the youth game yesterday.

Arbroath don't have the crowds or revenue but they find away . It's a bad job if we can't expect 2 or 3 good new players. That's maybe no sense ofcourse.
And what arbroath have done is brought in bargain basement players and players who have had injury worries in the past. Much like we have done with frizzle and mccabe. Or kept the same core team that brought them from league one. Also folk love to play for Dick Campbell for whatever reason. They get tv deals that we don't due to being in the championship as well as much bigger away crowds. So your comparison would have worked better if you had picked montrose or some one of a similar size in our league.
No ones saying we are not looking for or capable of bringing in 2/3 good new players. But they have to be affordable or loans. Same as last year. Folk giving it the "loans are a bad option" forget last year Scott mcgill played in every position for us and was in the first team every week till Patterson, a other loanee came In. We have relied on loan signings , as have others in our league for a while now. But let's not let facts get in the way of a good moan eh.

Not sure where people think we are going to find the players everyone is expecting........we are a League 1 team operating within a sensible budget. I think we have done well to keep the nucleus of 12-14 that we have. We don't have the crowd revenue of Falkirk, Dunfermline, QOTS etc.....even when playing well we get 1000 max on a consistent basis. If players won't accept the terms offered then what other option than loans.
...still hopeful of some decent additions this week and that our strikers get their shooting boots on.
Enough of that making sense patter.

What I'd really love is to start the season with 2 strikers who will get you 16/17 goals , maybe a third who will hit 10+ if he stays fit....

Lovely , going to nip up then get back to the hoose for the arbroath stream.

Watching the highlights back and hadn't realised just how involved McGill was in basically all our attacks. Everyone played great but I'd say him, Watson and Frizzell in particular were outstanding.
I was the same I came away thinking Mcgill did OK, but after watching the highlights he was great. Its amazing how much you watch a game and focus on the wee mistakes or crap touches. Think I saw somewhere he's on 3 assists for the tournament , fair play to the laddie.

Salim for Gabby surely no. First two tackles Salim had he went down far to easy . Gabby all though not a prolific scorer puts in a good shift.
He went down on purpose to win a foul as we were 1 nil up and time wasting...surely you get that ?

Well he's not signed anywhere else yet I don't think, so here's hoping he was at the game, or watched it, and it's given him the appetite to join the mighty diamonds.
He was looking to try down south I think but wanted time to think. Must be so bloody frustrating dealing with that kinda stuff. But like you said nothing signed yet so hopefully we get him over the line. Who would you drop though ? Justin "goal machine" Devenney? Surely not !
We add a stronger left back to that starting 11 (Although Euan was great last night) and maybe Salim in for Gabby ? World beaters!

It's been that way since he appeared as a trialist in the match v Stirling Albion in the NL Cup.
Aw boring ! Knew it was probably crap but I do know we made an offer to him!

Cracking win tonight, very enjoyable.
Good to see Salim get some some game time.
I'm assuming it's someone at it but, on Telfers Wikipedia it says he plays for us. Wouldn't look too much into it right enough as it's probably just some idiot that's changed it.

In other news, I was having a look at the other scores today and Raith finished their game with two midfielders at the back, only one recognised defender on the pitch and then loads of attacking midfielders and their one striker. Murrayball is alive and well! Looking forward to seeing what McCabeball antics are in store this season.
Was talking to a mate of mine this morning about Murrayball, when it worked it was absolute scenes.

I wouldn’t know how the club felt about anything…Haha probably cause folk would complain if they put out a statement saying "trying to bring in players this year is a wee bit trickier than usual"

The youth academy and football golf day I really couldn’t care less about TBH. But again, each to their own. I just want a successful first team. But of course you’d announce sponsors etc so not sure what that griping is about. However frustrations can often spill onto other aspects.
Also aware you can’t press gang people into signing a contract, give folk some credit.See we are totally in agreement. But some folk on here seem to think to this signing a player is easy or that we have infinite cash.
It's so bloody frustrating for everyone at the club as well im sure, we need to remember that. And I know frustration spills , I just wish folk would rationalise things a bit better, no one wants the club to do bad, especially not the club.

I’m not seeing pure rage. More frustration at having half a squad and premier league opponents/the league looming and those concerns being dismissed when they’re perfectly valid. You’re not worried - that’s fine. Some people are - also fine.100 it's fine, of course it is like i said each to there own. But folk are constantly wanting to blame someone for some reason. You said it yourself a few pages ago, something along the lines of its always someone else fault when I was trying to apply a bit of reason to the situation. It's just the facts, and again like I've said a million times over and over again. I want players but you cant force folk to sign. If we offer a contract to a player who then says , I want to wait to see if I can get a deal down south, that's no ones fault. Mate of mine knows Danny lennon and he had 3/4 players reject a contract because they wanted to try get one full time, they then couldn't so came back to clyde with their tails between there legs. It's just the nature of it all the now.
We had folk moan about the youth academy , on here and on twitter etc, folk complaining about a team building exercise, moaning about sponsors being announced "no plauers but they are always quick to announce sponsors eh" of course they bloody are , its money and news. One lad being utterly obsessed with the fact we hadnt decleared Mccabe coaching credentials when weve never asked that from anyone else. I just don't get that attitude.

What a crock of horseshit, to be blunt.
1 - Everyone here wants McCabe to succeed.
2 - It's not unreasonable for fans to hope for their club to improve their playing squad. Like everyone else, we aspire to forward momentum, not to step backwards.
3 - It's also not unreasonable to expect a team to have sufficient numbers of competent players in their squad, something the other 41 teams, with one or two possible exceptions, appear to have accomplished.
So the real question is not on the intangibles that we can't measure as we don't have sight of them (transfer targets, effort expended etc), it's the objective fact that we are now into competitive fixtures and at best running with 2 senior player subs, one of whom is a goalkeeper, as well as having to field kids as successful recruitment has been minimal.
No hand waving or blaming fans changes the fact that this squad needs strengthened in order to have a chance of maintaining last seasons momentum.
And I never once said it was unreasonable to want to bring in better players think ive stated numerous times including innmy post youve quoated as saying we need a squad. But all moaning on here isn't going to make any difference and folk just focus on the the negative, and totally ignore the positive.
And im glad so many folk are behind him, it's good. Happy to strike that one from the record! But yourself , and others constantly focus on the negativity , what do you get from it ? Each to their own and all that but folk getting pure raging at signings what do you think is going ?. Serious question that no one answers , do you think the clubs doing it on purpose ? And if so why ?

Up to date with what though? Do you want running commentary on potential targets, how they did in training, what deal we've offered them? We find out once the deal is done, which is as it should be.
Not quite sure what else is expected. A wee post from PH letting us know what he had for his dinner last night?
To be fair, it would be nice to have a wee update on the likes of Salims injury.
Other than that though it has to be a case of news when there is news. There's a lot of good stuff going on that people have totally looked over or ridiculed. Things like sponsorships being extended , the youth academy, new pitch (did you know there is a new pitch btw?) All these things have the potential to bring in more money or gives us more money now which let's us hopefully up our budget. Signings are needed , and aye they were needed two weeks ago but we are trying and no amount of salty posts on here or Facebook will make it easier for us to get players over the line.
There's folk here who have already written off Mccabe , have decided the club are actively trying to not bring players in, and both want us to bring in anyone or everyone , but also only the very best, but also only names they recognise. And for those folk we could sign Eusabio reincarnated and they would still complain that he's not been tested at this level.

Just pointing out we cannot compete financially or be compared financially to yourselves...as painful as that statement is.
