Now you seem to be getting annoyed at the new squad having a good day out because you are suggesting the plan isn't going to plan. The two things are completely separate, don't hang it on the players for simply enjoying one anothers company at the start of a tough season ahead.

See the second I saw that picture of them yesterday I just knew some folk would take issue with a bunch of young laddies having a day off together. Absolutely wild.

I agree with you. It's hard to build a full squad of first team players on our budget but looking at last season, we probably had 14 or 15 first team players, guys like Allan who were bench options and then Caves, Pyott etc who were never going to start regularly. If we can bring in 3 or 4 quality players over the next couple of weeks to add to what we have then brilliant, we should be in a good place for the season and we can probably use the academy boys rather than sign another Dean Ritchie to sit in the stand or make up the numbers on the bench. I'm sure McCabe is working very hard to recruit his targets, taking the job so early on is a big gamble for him too and he'll know he needs to get it right, so fingers crossed everything goes well.

Agreed,  hoping for some pens before the st mirren game , quietly optimistic

I think most of us were delighted with Easton signing but even then, he was much better than I expected him to be. Frizzell is an interesting one as he was the one I was least keen on from the Dumbarton contingent, whereas I was very keen to sign Wardrop and I expected to sign Quitongo but wasn't as fussed about him. Look how they all turned out! I'm sure Watson as the first proper signing got mixed reviews too while Salim was considered a good signing (he may well still be). I suppose it shows how much we know, it's often hard to tell which players will fit in well even if they have struggled at previous clubs.

My concern is mostly that we end up missing out on a few key targets and have to panic sign a few players just before the Peterhead game. I'm happy to take some time to try and bring in the best players possible but there does come a time when you need to move on. It's a gamble but equally so is building a full squad in June and then potentially missing out on some players over the next few weeks.

Aye its totally a risk. But look at our bench the first half of the season. Name one person who could turn a game coming off the bench? If we can get Telfer over the line,  bring in Moffat and whatever other loan signings,  then we can panic re-sign Dean ritchie

Seems like it’s everyone else’s fault we’ve not managed any decent signings in a couple of weeks.

    It's not a fault thing , it's business.

If you want to blame the club for not rinsing the bank balance clean then fine. But I'd rather be realistic than become Falkirk and operate at 900k loss a year. We've went bankrupt before don't really fancy it again.

All I'm trying to do is apply a bit of logic , I want signings as well , good ones. But recruitment is always tricky. All the good players we got last year came with risk , Easton and frizz were injury prone and written off as has beens. Mccabe was similar but had a family connection.

Like every other job in the world we will have a hiring budget and a list of candidates,  you try and sign the first choices but is that doesn't work out its no ones fault. It's crap and frustrating, but its not a blame thing to throw aggro at the club.

I know you're completely bang on here. But thing is people were saying exactly this a fortnight ago and there hasn't be a scrap of proper progress since Rae arrived.

I get that but you've got folk saying we need more players but good ones . The club offer deals to good players who want time so the manager has given them time. Now folk are saying let's bring in anything and anyone but I guarantee you the second we sign someone who folk don't instantly know their will be nose bleeds galore on here because we've signed a nobody. Like the poster above "rhys needs to swallow his pride and sign shite" (paraphrased) 100 percent he would be the first person to moan if we filled the bench with diddies.

Honest question, do you think the club are doing nothing ? Or do you think it's just a hard market made even more difficult by the fact there are bigger clubs in our league now. We cannot compete financially with Dunfermline,  Falkirk,  probably Kelty and queen's. Then on top of all that add in all the absolute crap that the club has as baggage from last season with Rico, the muppets at cove etc and we aren't exactly selling ourselves to potential recruits.

We all want signings and we wanted them weeks ago. But like I've said a million times,  you cannot force players to sign for us.

Heard rumours, would think this would be an end of window loan at best,  Moffat is currently on celtics pre season tour and was on the bench yesterday,  doubt he is on mccabes mystery man imminent list though

Moffat wasnt on the bench...unless he's changed his name or my eye sight is getting worse.

CELTIC: Hart (Siegrist 65), Juranovic (Ralston 46), Carter-Vickers (Jullien 60), Welsh (Lawal 60), Taylor (Bernabei 46); McGregor (McCarthy 60), Turnbull (Johnston 60), O’Riley (Ideguchi 46), Jota (Maeda 46), Kyogo (Giakoumakis 46), Forrest (Abada 46).

Subs: Bain, Oluwayemi, Ajeti, Kenny, Urhoghide, Vata

  7. The club are 100 percent trying to get players in. I don't like the ITK stuff cause its just not my place to say anything and if it doesn't work out I end up looking like the boy who kept touting the west ham striker. But I know that we are in for a few exciting players including loans. I'm quietly positive we will more in place for the St Mirren game. If it gets to arbroath and Huttons playing up top then I'll worry!

And remember we can't force folk to sign for us...

  8. There was a 10-15 minute spell on Tuesday where Frizz was utterly unplayable,  very similar to Easton,  with him playing further up the park adding more assists and Cammy providing more for the right side of the park we should be able to replace most of eastons goal involvements. Add to that Justin devenney (I'll never get the second name right) suddenly becoming a goal machine I think we will do OK....IF we sign another strong midfielder. Was interesting that in the extended Interview McCabe was the one to call out the week break gives us time for recruitment and not just recovery.  I see the Old firm loaness seem to be starting to trickle out and I've a funny feeling we have a few irons in the fire in terms of getting some players in from them.

Didn't manage to make the game due to work commitments, however good to see one of the academy players getting a start already, despite the fact that we really shouldn't be in this position.

I note the absence of Gallagher from the team sheet (is he injured?) and cant help but wonder if his finishing would have made the difference given the match stats being discussed.

Gal could have had a hattrick last night,  all off his shins.

Some moron sitting behind me kept giving young Cole pelters for absolutely no reason. Had to bite my lip to stop me from turning and telling them to shut the fu(k up. Not even critical stuff, but just abuse. I kid you not, they actually called him a 'knob jockey' at one point due to a misplaced pass. Like, what the actual fu(k is that all about? Just ludicrous stuff. It'd be laughable if it wasn't so pathetic.

Edit to add: I actually think he played quite well, once he settled a bit. To regain your composure after an early booking on your first ever senior start takes nerve. And he displayed some excellent passing after that. Literally flung in at the deep end and looked a decent prospect. Well done to the lad.

Was this the idiot that kept calling him mcmaster? Absolute muppet.

We were poor in spells last night but lots of ifs and buts in regards to missed penalty and a few stone wallers not given.

Think the 352 formation was more down to players available rather than preferred choice going forward.

Justin Deveney  looks promising,  hopefully he really kicks on this season.

A solid win to kick us off, 2 subs or not. Injury not ideal of course, but that's up to McCabe to see who he can get signed and available. before Tuesday without it being dross. Personally would rather he takes his time and gets players that can fire us up the league than sit on the bench v Edinburgh on a a Tuesday night.

Wanted to post straight after you so folk don't think we're the same person with a happy clapping agenda

Very much so and not hard to see why. Did some decent business not long after the season finished then nothing until this week, Peter Grant signing is a big boost.

Barry Cuddihy(been on trial with accies) and Adam Livingstone have offers to stay but obviously looking at other options.

I’d imagine keeping a core of your squad last year is a positive, losing Easton is a big loss all the same. Couple of good additions especially Ballantyne, swapping your keeper with Queen of the South isn’t a bad thing either.

Just hope the keeper doesn't watch the ball travel 40 yards in the air without moving like max did against you guys last season!

I'd only count him as a squad filler - really wanting to see better.   Teenage cast offs from what was a Championship club last season doesn't inspire much confidence.   Only two signings of a decent standard so far - lots more to do.   Whilst we can say Supply Chain issues are out of our control the bespoke nature of the kit is hardly a surprise and seems to be late out every-year.  Perhaps get ahead of the queue and order early.   Also why can't we just wear last season's for a few games?

Cause they've been given to folk who sponsored players
