It can be done to sign players Queens have signed 9 but all about how  good they are we are about to find that out .

Time will tell if  it is better to wait in the hope quality players become availble.

Aye absolutely,  but the difference there is they needed a full rebuild where we retained 90 % of our first team. I'm just hoping we don't end up with another pyott or ritchie who contribute little but still cost us cash every week

Yeah 100% agreed, did also comment on the FB page that it would be foolish not to make an offer to him. Obviously the player had to want to sign. But if you don't try, you don't get.

Would expect loan signings to happen during/after the league Cup also.

Aye hoping for a few loans announced next week when the big clubs return from thier summer jaunts

Think we have enough signed. Just. But I'd be surprised if we don't sign another one or two before then.

Yeah that's what I'd kinda be hoping for too. I know it is only a game against Cowdenbeath but we should at least have a starting 11 and maybe 4 on the bench similar to last season. I'd like to see Telfer signed asp and get that one over the line.

Same thought he played well om sat, he has to want to sign though obviously.

This post is far too sensible. What are you playing at? 😂

I'm just being realistic and using the time line from previous seasons as a template for what to expect. Did the same last season and I was accused off a few on here for being a "happy clapper" whatever the hell that means. In fact I remember betting a certain  poster on here a pint that we wouldn't be crap last season...

I do understand the frustration folk have but we aren't a big or attractive team to come to. We don't have a big budget compared with some other teams and as that BBC article that was kicking about stated teams in leagues above us are struggling to get folk in. When folk post things like "can't believe so and so has signed for x team and not us" do they not understand players have to want to come to us. I just dinny get it. I'm hoping we have a few things up our sleeve and can pull off a few signings like Telfer etc that are available but if they get an offer from a bigger team they aren't going to sign.

I think we will do well again in the loan market this year and I'm hoping there's a wee gem out there we haven't seen yet.

Panic is the wrong word. Just poor communication/planning in comparison to other clubs. To use Falkirk as an example. Full suite of pre season games, season ticket early bird and general sale ongoing for a month, all strips out, squad of players. We can't say any of them apply to us.

I do get it,  but news when there's news to tell. Just wish people were a bit more realistic. Our squad is thin cause we've cast aside a lot of dead weight no offence to them and loans have returned to their club. I would have loved more signings at this point but only ones that benefit the squad. Like I've said a few times we've kept all but one of our signed squad we would have kept from last year.

Season tickets are out, strips weren't released until later in July last year so I'd assume a similar time scale here. And we went back later to training to give last year's lads a chance to recover from a devastating play off result so we've only played 3 friendlies, but again that's been pretty standard for the past few seasons. We go through this every year, if the league starts and we've only got 13 players and no strips then I will panic , but that's a while yet.

We have 100 percent offered deals to some players from last week's game and it's just a waiting to see I'd they accept those terms , canny force players to sign for us.

  6. Was just looking at last year's league Cup game against QP on the 17th of july. We had 4 subs that day Kerr , Ritchie and Cantley and im sure Mccabe was named but not stripped.

Allan,  quitingo , lyons  and Mcdonald all started that game. With kerr and ritchie coming off the bench.

We are by far in better place now than we were then. We need strengthened badly but the club are trying to bring in better quality players that filled the bench last year and not just sign anyone for the sake of it. Think we will sign maybe 1 or 2 before Saturday then bring more in the following week. It's a very tough market this year for players.

Interesting article. Peterhead in a bit of a state it seems and their Aberdeen game could be embarrassing unless JM can do some good business this week. But overall there is a lot of change in the bowels of Scottish football. Ambitious new owners who understand that a moderate amount of investment can see a jump up 2-3 leagues. Fully expecting to see us lose 4-5 teams over the next decade and some of these other clubs coming in. For us, we can’t be allowed to be priced out of a decent L1 player. Now, more than ever, money will play a huge part in securing our future. Of course our geography helps and being so close to Glasgow and suburbs is a major advantage. Keep buying season tickets, lottery etc and put our trust in the BOD.

Hoping to see a pen this afternoon…. Anyone in the know?

Read that this morning,  even Hamilton struggling to bring in anyone new.

Hopefully the pens out ASAP for Telfer and the wee number 7. But expect the cameras might be out tomorrow when everyone's at training. Assuming it's still Tuesday nights that everyone is in.

As stated elsewhere Charlie Telfer had the number 8 today and looked pretty decent in the midfield. The young boy McMaster did the holding role behind Telfer, and did it very well, but also got forward to support.

Again as stated elsewhere the No.3 was Euan Deveney and he looked reasonable. No scary moments but wasn't tested too much on that side.  When he went off Ballantyne moved over to LB which may be our intention once Watson is back from his holidays.

Wish we could find a way to have cammy and watson on the right hand side. Thought cammy look impressive,  albeit in what was a training match.

Not feeling too hopeful that we barely have a starting 11.

If this NL cup is what dictates who we sign then it’s not looking great. Getting Dean Cairns flashbacks.

Someone literally shared the team from thr NL cup last year and it wasn't even close to the squad we ended up with.  Its a chance to get folk in and look at them. One match will probably be closer to a starting 11 and the other will be a riot of trialists running aboot daft, Same as last year.

While im by no means a handwringer the lack of info out of the club is quite annoying. Strips, season tickets info initially, signings, youth set ups. Just disjointed bits and bobs or radio silence.

It's an odd one but I can only imagine there's reasons behind it. Maybe waiting for all the ducks to be in a row before releasing info. Or everyone at the club is just utterly devastated at the end of last season that they are paralysed with disappointment mumbling to to themselves "why" a few times a day...

Is the Gow thing actually happening, a lot of talk about it but havent seen it confirmed?

McLaren was some player, remember him scoring a volley from the left side of the pitch, one of the best goals ive ever seen, did his career just drift away in the end? Always thought he was as good as Gow in terms of ability but no where near the application.

I think so aye, a lot of the youngsters who played on Tuesday were part of the youth team he is building. Haven't got a clue how it works or how it ties to the club or the finance stuff. But from what I've heard it's a go.

I'm sorry but you're way off the mark with that one. We are not miles off a decent squad or behind our rivals IMO. As for the 3 or 4 more players, these things take time. Take our time to get the right players and people moan. If we rushed signings and they were poor people would moan. The club can't win really, until we get the team on the park, in the league, and start winning.

This is the first season in a long time where we have retained the bulk of our squad we wanted to keep and are not starting from scratch. Add in the best RB in the league over the last few seasons and an improvement in goals and if say we are in a damn good position right now.

Also, personally I don't give a monkeys about the league Cup. It's almost an extended preseason these days for most teams. It's the league that counts and that's where I'll save my judgement for. And I guarantee we will have a much fuller squad by the time we play Peterhead.

This makes us look like we are the same person posting under two accounts

We've 12 players, in that respect we are miles behind. Dunfermline, Queens & Falkirk are all around the 20 mark so we've still to sign another 8 or 9.

Which will maybe be another 3/4 contract players and the rest on loans, same as every season. Spl teams only went back this week and most are off at training camps so your not gonna get much loan business till next week or so. But in terms of quality of starting 11 we are not miles behind.

Whilst i currently don't see the need to panic, and i'll reserve judgement until our squad is complete, Passionate does have a point as we are clearly miles  behind our main rivals in building our squad.

I'm still waiting on the 3 or 4 players (loans or full time) who are going to walk into our starting 11.

I don't see that we are miles behind.

Falkirk signed a few but its still the same mince players they had last year. Queens have signed some, but are they better than what we have ?

Obviously we've all got our opinions , but we do this every year. I argued with the exact same folk about last seasons squad,  and yes we fell at the last hurdle but was that not the best team we've had on the park for years? We strengthened 2 positions on last year , lost aggy who no one bar me rated and lost Dylan. Dylan js a huge miss but as they've said dozens of times they are trying to bring in a replacement,  but that's obviously a big ask. We had a loanee at left back 80 percent of the season and our bench was made up of non starters , no offense to them. So we are in the exact same boat as we were at this stage last , with the benefit of a the majority of the starting 11 have played together last year. When was the last time we could say that ? How is that not something to be positive about ?

Very uninspiring list of names that, i'll reserve judgement until they play of course but surely some of these guys aren't much better than the likes if McDonald, Lyons, Allan etc what's the point of releasing them if we're gonna replace with them with these types of signings.

Lyons was injured more than he was fit , and the others probably wanted more game time I reckon.

And don't get me wrong I'm not excited by that list but I'm not fuming about it either.

Waiting on the pen with some journeyman players. Maybe manager doesn't want to sign players older than himself.

Why do we want journey men ? That sort of recruitment has been a disaster for us in the past. David Lilley etc.

The age thing maybe for some but there's plenty young managers these days if you look outwith Scotland,  like folk keep saying we need to when I point out the amount of goals gal gets compared to other strikers in our leagues and im met with "There's other leagues out with scotland"

And then we bring in players who are from other leagues and not known and then folk rage about them being not good enough cause they aren't household names! Ye canny win man!
