  1. On a 2008 barolo tonight. Decent, but heady for my taste, needs to be warmish.
  2. Jesus. If that's half true, it's ridiculous. Charlotte Fakes got tracked down after about 5 months of embarrassing revelations. I wouldn't call that too easy.
  3. I can imagine. My excuse was I was 13, but I'll keep a lookout for brightly-footed bellends cruising about town.
  4. I think I'm right in saying that M&S's is Deanston, which is a perfectly nice dram. Maybe on the boring side, but very pleasant.
  5. I've got two pairs of Cons, a pair of Adidas, and some Pumas all in practically that colour. I have no real excuse.
  6. Comfiest ever I've had were probably those much-maligned Huaraches from the 90s. I had this pair. Edit: I still remember wearing them to PE for the first time. There was a palpable pause in the air while folk assessed in their own head,s and collectively, whether I should get slagged for them. I was well pleased with them (a 50% sale in Stirling's Intersport is the only reason my mum tolerated the idea of buying them), but I knew they were risky. A big sigh of relief when smiles broke out all round! The closest I've had to most comfortable since were a pair of Adidas Neo from a few years back... dark green with red laces. No idea of the name, but wish I'd bought two pairs. I wear them sparingly now.. My current favourites are these: I seem to pretty much always buy in dark greens and browns these days. No idea why. Boringness I guess.
  7. Ooft. Good luck, she must be getting grumpy! We're due Jan 24th. First one. I Have The Fear.
  8. If I was a wife of a Rangers fan, I'd be off to stay with my sister for a few days now.
  9. I got one. It's really a question for the mods rather than anyone else, because although I lurked for ages, I only joined properly this year... Why delete stuff? If it's outrageously offensive or slanderous or could otherwise get the site in trouble, fair enough, but otherwise, surely it's best to just lock a thread. I don't like people's past idiocy being deleted from history. Keep it so they forever be tainted by it! Seriously though, what's it about? I've never in my life come across a site where there are so many references to "that thing so and so said in a now-deleted thread".
  10. 7. Fluffed the Apollo Moon one... having changed my mind from the correct answer, d'oh. Also got the plane one and the RAF one wrong.
  11. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0027UY8B8/ref=gb1h_tit_c-3_3427_2c68bbdf?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=1PKN9TQAMJ2AQE6X12YT&pf_rd_i=161428031&pf_rd_p=559703427 £22.99 blu-ray region free on Amazon Black Friday right now. Worth a grab for anyone that likes it. But not for those that don't. Unless as a present. Or because they're worried they might change their minds.
  12. Toss breadcrumbs over their car. The next day it'll be scratched to buggery by small claws and covered in birdshit.
  13. 8/10. Annoyed with myself as it was the Palestinian terrorists and Spirit of St Louis ones I messed up, both of which I should have remembered.
  14. 7, 9, 5 this week. Sigh. Still no 10. Happens to me fairly often. If you refresh the page a few times it usually works (and remembers your scores).
  15. This Zizzi girl has an annoying head.
  16. What a pile of tossers. http://www.dorkly.com/post/69649/8-insane-behind-the-scenes-things-happening-in-marvel-movies
  17. Exactly. I suggested Glasgow too, but if that's where you live I retract it. Definitely a good idea to send him away. e.g. if he goes to Edinburgh and spends 1st year in halls, he'll meet a bunch of new friends, tap some poon, and generally set himself up with people to move into a flat with the following year. It's ideal.
  18. True, but I'm not so convinced. Once you get to a certain size, it's much of a muchness, as different nights will specialise. The key is having a critical mass that sustains a reasonable expectation of individuality (as yes - I am aware I'm being wanky about it). But anyway, it's not all about nightlife, but I do think it makes a bit of a difference.
  19. I really disagree with this purely on the basis that I used to like going clubbing. Still would if I had the stamina. I spent 6 years living in Edinburgh (went there as a student), have spent a dozen in Glasgow now, and spend half of every week in Aberdeen for work, so feel I have a fairly balanced perspective. There is no equivalent to places like the SubClub, Berkeley Suite, La Cheetah, etc. In Aberdeen... or really Edinburgh for that matter, where the clubbing scene seems to have been decimated. I blame the fact that so many pubs are open till 3. I would argue there isn't even an equivalent to the Arches in the other cities, and the Arches is pretty mainstream really. Each to their own obviously, but the other cities aren't big enough to sustain a more varied scene. Instead you end up with more of a melting-pot approach. Edited to add: the point about Manchester is fair enough. Decent city. Great amount of stuff to do and not too far away.
  20. He'll be able to help you on use of apostrophes then! Turning my dick setting off, out of that list - Edinburgh. Its History and English departments are good, and there is a decentish nightlife. You can bung him in Halls for 1st year and he can share pleasingly skanky flats for the next 3. Dundee is an alright city, but has less going on. St Andrews is pretty enough, but full of nobends. Stirling's campus is great, but it's just a campus. It's annoyingly a bit too far from Stirling town centre, so students are reduced to going to the union and the few bars and (awful) club in Bridge of Allan. Aberdeen is okay, but from a student's perspective it's basically a colder, greyer, smaller version of Edinburgh. All that said, unless you live in Glasgow and want rid of the bugger, I would send him there. The choice of bars and clubs pisses all over the other cities in Scotland. I'm not saying it should all be about the social life, but it does make a big difference at that age.
