  1. There used to be a poster on this thread called Bantabairn who frequently suggested that everything the old board did was wonderful. He was wrong. Just as a few conspiracy theorists who used to attack everything the club did were also wrong. Those people annoyed me in particular because while they may have been aiming at the board, their bullets were landing on employees who were friends of mine. Despite being polar opposites in their opinions, both sides had one thing in common. Their minds were closed. The second something happened, they were already looking for an angle to either attack or defend it, depending on which side of the fence they were already sitting. The attackers outnumbered the defenders but there were a few obvious ones in both camps. I kind of get the impression you're like that, though obviously time and future posts you make could prove me wrong. Do you know Bantabairn by any chance?
  2. No. It's close season at the moment. I think the league restarts some time in March.
  3. Good explanation for the difficulties involved in the transfer process. No doubt Shadwell will be along shortly to tell everyone he's talking sh*t and good managers just get it done.
  4. No, there's nothing in the diary until a trip to Montrose on Saturday. Which I'm quite happy about as the last five days have been busy with other club jobs. Though if and when that changes I obviously won't be able to comment.
  5. Fair enough. So I was wrong with both the scorer and the number he netted. It's no fun getting old when the memory fails. I just remember him turning the game around and getting a contract off the back of it. I think. Maybe.
  6. Pretty sure Gareth Hutchison scored a double as a trialist against Livingston, turned the game around and promptly got a contract from Alex Totten.
  7. No to both questions. Besides, why would we be signing a defender? Stainrod told us earlier in the week that the next signing would be a goalkeeper and the ITK boys are always on the ball.
  8. In their defence, they have major problems with the website. Such as loading a story, inputting a time at which it should go live and then it publishes immediately. Or publishes with a different link than the one they put in. The guys who do the work are friends of mine and I know there's been a few occasions when they've been tearing their hair out with it. They'd love a new one but it's probably not at the top of the clubs priority list right now.
  9. He's not missing. He's still at the club but hasn't been available for selection recently, though my guess is he'll be back next week. Re the post before you, Mutch has an arm injury. He's been at multiple games with his arm in a sling and I've seen fans talking to him several times so I think that's quite well-known.
  10. I remember making a similar point in the early days of the Old One F forum, around 2004, and getting laughing emoticons back from a poster who also ran the media department then. It's always been that way. I'm not sure it's a club policy so much as an ingrained reticence amongst football managers, or at least all the ones we've had recently.
  11. Leg muscle tear. He told people in hospitality at the Clyde game so it's not being kept a secret.
  12. I have my own opinions on the possible signing, just as I have about many of the people who've walked through the door of our club in recent years. But as I may end up talking to them facetoface the day after posting about them online, I don't think it's wise for me to comment. My only reason for posting was to point out that what you and multiple others are demanding - denial from the club - isn't going to happen if the rumours are true. Let's leave it there.
  13. People can make their views known any time they like and have been doing so ever since the story surfaced. I've no issue with that. My post had nothing to do with people expressing an opinion about the signing.
  14. And if we are interested in him, then the question will be bodyswerved. Ramping up the speculation. I don't think any manager (or BOD) talks publicly about signing targets until a deal is over the line. Pure speculation on my part here, but the fact that the rumour hasn't been quashed suggests there's something in it. So depending on how long negotiations take to either conclude or collapse, it could be weeks before you get an answer. Demanding a quicker answer won't change anything.
  15. No. Depending on how widespread the covid infections are I'm guessing things might go on the back burner for a few days. It obviously depends on whether staff were infected too.
  16. I'll probably get red-dotted to oblivion for this, but I found him to be a nice guy. He was never anything other than pleasant, courteous and helpful in his dealings with me. I watched him talking to staff dozens of times and he was the same with them. Having a quick snapshot of someone when they're under the spotlight doesn't necessarily give you a clear insight into their personality. None of which defends his record at FFC. His tenure saw us go from top of the league on his arrival to 21 points behind Cove on his departure and for that, as well as multiple other reasons, he had to go.
  17. One point that's been missed but which I think may turn out to be significant. Ian Fergus will now report to Jamie Swinney. The role of our CEO initially appeared to be focussed on a solely management / admin basis, with a bit of sales thrown in following the departure of KK. Now he's going to be involved in football again. Given that he was in charge of FVFA I suspect this is a very good move. I have a lot of dealings with Ian Fergus and I think the two of them will work well together. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works out.
  18. I haven’t had my ears chewed for a good few weeks now, even if at one point it was incessant. Have you finally given up? You know my feelings. I agree with you about a few things but I have no power to change them other than making suggestions. And the two lads who work part-time in the media roles have become friends so I’m not going to criticise them. Particularly as I know both do more than they get paid for. Which is a common trait amongst background staff. As an example, when I spoke to Jamie on Tuesday at the Junior Bairns event he said he’d told all the staff to take this week off, yet stories are still going up.
  19. It was previously Lex Miller who had to get the deals over the line. Despite the negativity around Gary Holt, I'd take the latter any time. McKay got a three year deal because he had offers of two years from clubs above League One. I was told their names at the time but I've genuinely long since forgotten. We couldn't beat the wages on offer so he got a longer deal instead.
  20. I don't think it was announced on the website but it was stated by Gordon Wright at the AGM that he had resigned that day.
  21. No. Precontracts are used for summer signings as that's when most players become available. I've never heard of a precontract being made for a January signing. Even if one was made, they're nothing more than a promise to sign and are not legally binding. Nobody will come in that Rennie hasn't agreed to.
  22. As I understand it, since GH was appointed the BOD had no involvement in negotiations other than having a veto. (previously one of the BOD used to do the deals) The veto would only be used for non-footballing reasons, such as the potential signing of a player who they didn't want to be associated with our club. There is one obvious example from recent years. I suspect there may also have been a second one due to a potential court case. Anyway, in the current system I think the DOF proposes players and the head coach has the final say. Or at least the last two coaches have stated that's how it works in both FFCTV and public interviews. Given that their careers are on the line I tend to believe them. Tonights interview may have muddied the waters a bit, depending on how you view MR's comments. Hopefully the club will give us some clarity over the coming days. Either that or when signings are announced Rennie will give an explanation on how they were scouted and how much say he had in bringing them to FFC.
  23. A mix of our Under-18s along with Krasniqi, Weekes, Lemon & Ompreon beat them 3-1 a month ago.
  24. Please don't quote him as it means I have to see his nonsense. He's a troll from another club. It was painfully obvious from his initial posts, hence why I think most of us have him on ignore.
  25. Jamie Swinney said at the AGM that he has ten permanent staff and thirty-five volunteers. Of the permanent staff, you can subtract the three groundsmen and probably Super Sam as not being admin. That leaves six. Four of whom are part time.
