The Falkirk FC Thread
Swordfishtrombone replied to Kris.'s topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
It’s a temporary stand isn’t it. I may be wrong. Been a while since I’ve been to the recs. -

Much as there’s a lot of stuff that can be mocked here, your stand calculator is out a bit. Alloa have 1 stand. It is a very nice stand though. -
Bairns v the Grandweans of Section B
Swordfishtrombone replied to Reggie Perrin's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
That was my very first away game. My dad who is no longer here took me as a wide eyed 9 year old and that game along with the rest of that unbelievable season(I’m sure the 7-1 Raith game was shortly after) had me hooked for life and gave me an unrealistic expectation of what to expect from following Falkirk. Lovely to see it again. -

I’m struggling to see how it is divisive. An ex footballer who played in Scotland and for Scotland is a pundit. The same criteria is broadly used for the other pundits. -

I remember him buying completely into the ‘fairytale’ I may be wrong but his piece when they went tits up doesn’t really suggest this. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/7264741.stm -
Looks just like my 5 year old Patterdale I have seen a couple of patterdales that look just like her in the face. When we got her from the council pound she was classed as a terrier/whippet cross. I think patterdale is the predominant breed in the mix

When it goes back to normal I will genuinely miss not being able to walk away from other dog walkers when walking the dog (Purely in the interests of pandemic safety)without looking like a p***k. I have not had to partake in shitey dog walker small talk for months now and it has been glorious.

Juno the mutt not happy that the well of dog biscuits has dried up. The wee mutt is 11 this year and still thinks she is a pup.

Lewis Capaldi hatred thread
Swordfishtrombone replied to YassinMoutaouakil's topic in The General Nonsense Forum
It really is I occasionally hear songs on 6 music I like but have no idea who the bands are and can’t be arsed to check. Popular music in this decade has completely passed me by. -
Lewis Capaldi hatred thread
Swordfishtrombone replied to YassinMoutaouakil's topic in The General Nonsense Forum
My only knowledge of Lewis Capaldi is a couple of women in my work going on about how funny he is and how he should be a stand up comedian. I have probably heard a couple of his songs but couldn’t identify them. I have no axe to grind with him he seems easily avoided in the streaming/download age. Back in the radio days where bands or singers were unavoidable I had far more hatredfor Toploader/Jamiraquai/New Radicals because of constant airplay. It’s far easier to avoid the shite these days, and I’m completely out of touch. -
I wish I’d missed that league cup semi final with the flu. Naismith destroyed Falkirk that night, one of the best individual performances I’ve seen against Falkirk who were rancid. Having to wait for an hour in traffic outside of Motherwell contributed to a miserable night. I missed Falkirk beating Hearts 4-0 in the cup as I couldn’t get the day off from my part time job in a chicken farm which funded my student life at the time.

Tom English - What's the opinion?
Swordfishtrombone replied to Ric's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
I think he’s okay. He is one of the better ones and I don’t think he has an agenda. As has previously been mentioned he has probably went all in on the bullying nonsense without any credible evidence and has missed a few opportunities to back down on it. The reaction to him on here has been far more extreme than anything he has tweeted or published. -

Seems a bit harsh. I’m no fan of Dodds as a pundit, he certainly has a bias to Rangers and is a bit thick, and I know Dundee fans have reason to dislike him but as a player he was a very good Scottish top flight striker and probably achieved the most he could have with his ability. He played for his country and played very well for a few clubs resulting in a move to a very good Rangers team. He was a niggly wee b*****d and a constant nuisance and goal threat as a player, I don’t think coward is a fair word to describe him. He’s somebody I can’t get annoyed about. There are far worse than him. -

Poor Tom English he has now been accused at times on here and elsewhere of being in Lawwells pocket and now Ann Budges. It’s almost as if he is objective and people take exception when his view differs from theirs. -
The SPFL recommendation?

They also regularly return a Tory government and voted for brexit so their opinions are best treated with the contempt they deserve -
Well in Hamilton that’s a fucking fantastic result. Enjoy your night. Fans of fellow diddy clubs everywhere salute you

He was the deputy headmaster at my high school, a really good guy. And he played at the San Siro. Quite the step down from the San Siro to Lornshill Academy. -
Off The Ball - Is it good?
Swordfishtrombone replied to Buddist Monk's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Tam Cowan came across as incredibly childish in the interview, Stuart Cosgrove was asking interesting questions whereas he took it upon himself to just throw in petulant jibes. Craig Whyte is ripe for ridicule but Tam Cowan clearly isn't funny enough to do it well. He seemed aggrieved at any slight of 'Sir David Murray' -

The most crestfallen I have been at a Falkirk game was when we were 2-1 up against the Jambos due to a Pressley og, when they were unbeaten during the early Romanov/Burley days singing cheerio to their fans as they were streaming out just for Matt Glennon to f**k up and give them an equaliser with the last kick of the ball. To be fair to Glennon he did then put in the best display I have ever seen by a Falkirk goalie at East End Park not long after. -

To be fair to Kamberi he has realised quite early that the Rangers fans need their egos massaged and is already playing to it. He is still only one poor performance and a missed chance against Livingston away from being called a tarrier and having roasters on Rangers forums put him on their enemies list. -
Friday Night Football - Thistle vs Ayr
Swordfishtrombone replied to jagfox's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Within 5 minutes of turning this game on I saw a player put another player in a headlock and elbow him in the pus twice and get awarded a free kick for it. Scottish football is fantastic.
