If we hadn't conceded first then it would be 2-0 and everyone would be elated. Armenia are no mugs and under normal circumstances we'd be happy with a draw.
Aye, but what does Mark Goldbridge think?

Imagine complaining about that daft c**t.

Our defensive strategy seems to be 'let them get it out their feet, on to their good foot and get a shot off' and to just hope we get a block in. Just strange to watch.

Quite incredible how the mood has turned in the space of a week and a half. He's done if we lose here, something that was unimaginable before the Ukraine game.

Johnny Depp played on a couple of the tunes on Be Here Now. Noel Gallagher said recently on a podcast that he was a brilliant guitarist and that he'd spent years in bands before making it as an actor.

If we're going with pie in the sky options we'd be as well going for Bielsa, never happening but it'd be some laugh. In a realistic sense, there aren't any obvious names mentioned that fill you with any sort of optimism. We'll have to go foreign, and even then narrowing down to the managers who would are available, and who would actually want the job doesn't leave you with too much.

We missed a ridiculous amount of chances in that Czech game which is why it stung so much. We had fairly lengthy spells on top from what i remember but aye it's a stretch to say we outplayed them for 90 minutes.
The whole Euros felt a bit like that - we were schooled by Croatia but still missed stupid chances from what i remember. A draw was about right in the England game but again, we still had a handful of real opportunities to score. You can maybe get away with those against Israel, Armenia etc, but much like McGinn's sitter in the Ukraine game, you simply can't miss those chances against half decent sides and expect to get anywhere.

The stuff about Robertson, better players, system, increased expectation/scrutiny etc is all true - but doesn't explain him blootering a cross out of play, miscontrolling simple passes, misplacing 10 yard passes, having his touch go out for a throw in and so on. I'm a massive fan of his and have stuck up for him constantly - but he makes a baffling amount of individual, technical errors in a Scotland shirt that have nothing to do with the system or players around him. Mistakes you'd be surprised at lesser players making, never mind him. He's not the only one of course, but the better players argument only goes so far.
I should point out that he was consistently brilliant for us around 2014-17/18ish and hardly put a foot wrong. There may be an element of him trying too hard as a result of the expectations placed on him, something he has spoken about publicly too.

Ireland are that bad that we'll probably sneak a draw if we get a goal.
The most infuriating thing about it all. Ireland are absolutely fucking garbage, can hardly string a pass together.

The selling point with Clarke was the fact that, even though it wouldn't be exactly swashbuckling - we'd be difficult to play against, resolute and hard as f**k to beat.
If we aren't even managing that in over half of our games, what's the point?

This is a rock bottom moment. Cant believe we're having another one of these after feeling like we had finally turned a corner. I don't think Clarke will be punted, but he'll lose a significant section of the fans tonight and will struggle from here on.

Our attacking players are gubbed.

I've been convinced we're heading in the right direction, even despite our recent setbacks - but it feels like a performance like that blows notions of 'progress' out the window. As bad as i can remember us.

Embarrassing.

That's where the 'aye but he plays with better players at Liverpool' stuff falls flat. Robertson makes some bewildering individual errors in a Scotland shirt.

I haven't really entertained the Clarke out chat yet, but regardless of my opinion this is one of those extinction level performances that turn things against the manager. Absolutely embarrassing.

McGinn's finishing is absolutely embarrassing. Missed about 8 huge chances at the Euros and fucked two chances on a plate. Abysmal.

Fucking shambles.

Who's this co-com? Pure u-18s World Cup on Eurosport-sounding jabroni.

This lot are fucking rubbish. A goal will zap their energy, which is all they have. Get them pumped.

That Ireland line up is absolutely honking. Feels a bit nervy due it being Ireland, and i still have flashbacks to that team of cloggers (albeit a better bunch of cloggers than they currently have) beating us to Euro 2016 qualification - but realistically if we're serious about our own progression, where we currently are as a squad and where we're trying to get to, then we should be beating that side without too much fuss.
Ireland 1 - 1 Scotland.

The Scotland end looks the only part of the ground that's even close to being full.

Can't believe I read someone saying that they don't think Che Adams cares anymore and looks fed up now. Even at 2-0 in the 70th odd minute, he is chasing every ball down and working his arse off. Lost track of amount of times he stopped balls going out of play and kept possession for us.
There is a bunch of times I wish he would strike the ball earlier and he always seems to want an extra touch which often isn't needed and leads him into trouble but his touch is also excellent so he more often than not keeps possession or wins a corner etc. It's maddening to me that Scotland fans can watch him tonight and think he is shite.
On a similar note, I can't recall a Scotland performance where we won so many second balls, intercepted the ball and genuinely pressured the opposition into so many mistakes.
Yes Armenia were shit but the tempo, the players attitude and the willingness to keep that up for the whole 90 was very pleasing to see. I really don't think we took our foot off the gas for the whole match.
Steve Clarke deserved criticism last week for some poor decisions, but tonight he earns praise for bold changes and making sure the correct attitude was applied for the whole match. It was what I as a Scotland fan wanted to see, and got it.
Might've been someone else - but i said i thought he looked fed up, frustrated and in his own head a bit, in the way strikers do when it's just not falling for them/passes aren't finding them, which i noticed in the Ukraine game and then again in the first half. I'm a massive fan of his, still think he's by some distance the best striker we have in terms of ability and would have him starting over anyone else available. As i also said, for whatever reason, i still think he will catch fire at some point and win games on his own for us. Although even when he's not scoring, he's still hugely important to the way we play.
