  1. Nepotism rules! Good news for you and us if it happens.
  2. You don't know what's happening.. Much will depend on whether the shortlisted candidates are free agents or in post. The top target's club may not wish to release him from his contract or is demanding too much compensation. Recruitment is a risky business and even big clubs have trouble getting who they want. Eddie Howe strung Celtic along for months.
  3. Applications only closed on Friday so you will need to be patient. The Board will need at least a few days to shortlist, interview and assess the applicants. There could be some decent candidates that were not on their radar. Act in haste and repent at leisure - as the Jags did after appointing Gary Caldwell!
  4. Are PCAs legally binding or can Dundee wriggle out of the deal without paying him compensation?
  5. Agree totally. Rhodes also has two years left on his contract.
  6. It was obviously a wind-up but Dundee's new manager may want to bring in another striker. If so, Rudden could be available, possibly on loan. I'd take him back if we can afford him.
  7. Saw that Marca nonsense in the BBC Gossip column this morning. There's no way that Newcastle will bin Eddie Howe after his great run of results. They certainly would not replace him a huge and expensive ego who failed in his last EPL jobs. Mendes must be feeding Marca the usual BS to get Jose a big pay rise from Roma.
  8. There's speculation on WAT, probably without foundation, that Zac Rudden may wish to return to the Jags next season. Unlike Blair Lyons who had also signed a PCA, he was not mentioned in the loan player update on 4th May - https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/player-update-4th-may-2022/. Similarly, Rudden was not mentioned in the 9th May update on the out-of-contract players - https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/player-update-9th-may-2022/. It is odd that, unlike the other players who are leaving the club, his contribution was ignored. Did he leave us in acrimonious circumstances? If Zac does become available, e.g. not wanted by Dundee's new manager, should McCall offer him a new deal?
  9. Latest rumour on Hickey in The Times - https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/brentford-keen-on-13m-move-for-bologna-defender-aaron-hickey-kmk8cztn7 "Brentford lead the race to sign Aaron Hickey for around £13 million. The 19-year-old has impressed playing on both flanks and as a wing back for Bologna this season and in recent weeks he has been linked with Napoli, Newcastle United and Arsenal — who say that reports of them striking a deal are not true." That's a bit odd as Rico Henry, Brentford's LB, is highly rated by Thomas Frank. He's played almost every game under Frank and signed a new 4-year deal in March. Hickey could switch to RB which would allow Ajer to play in a more central position.
  10. He poked fun at the Scottish accent when introducing the pipers and Highland dancers. Whoever wrote his shite scripts should be hung, drawn and quartered with him.
  11. It would be much harsher if they sent in the execrable Philip Schofield.
  12. Our next batch of weapons for Ukraine are being tested at Windsor Castle tonight.
  13. Fair point but we are in a FT league even though Arbroath have shown that PT players can be very effective in it. IIRC Bell had a well established business career outside football. I'd prefer us to recruit and develop young talent than sign older former favourites. But it's just my personal opinion and I'll fully support all our players next season.
  14. Sneakily slip invalid picks? She'd had extensive media coverage for months. And a lot of picks are, naturally, invalids. I'll keep my current number of points whatever happens and will accept Miguel's decision. It's you, however, who has nul points. You're obviously very bitter that your Aim Here, so far, has been off target .
  15. Many thanks for those useful updates. I had thought all Ayr's senior players were FT. QOS would be a logical move and help Muirhead develop his new career in Dumfries. Going back to full-time football could be a bit of gamble but his fitness and performances should improve.
  16. Really? Can they afford to offer better wages than Ayr? Several Ayr players have just signed new deals so it's unlikely that Muirhead was offer less money.
  17. I did not contradict you. It was relevant in that those early signings did not work out well. Unless McCall's budget has been increased significantly, the objective is to improve the squad asap. We don't want to lose quality targets to other clubs.
  18. Two poor signings that did not work out well. We need real competition for places not obvious back-ups. Our starting line-ups last season were predictable. At times, we had less than a handful of senior players too. Opposition managers were able to expose our defensive weaknesses and blunt our attacking threats easily.
  19. McKenna, Bell and Mayo have left. We should be able to get someone better.
  20. Typically, McCall played McKenna out of position. He was never a RB but McCall did not sign a back-up RB to cover for Foster.
  21. See my comment above. It's logical to prioritise the signing of starters. McCall could see him as McKenna's, not Bell's, replacement. ETA - Muirhead will be on a bigger wage than Bell who IIRC was part-time.
  22. That's my fear after his McKenna folly last season. If Muirhead signs, it will be as a first choice starter. There is no need to sign utility or back-up players at the start of the window. I was very positive when Milne was announced but this signing would be depressing.
  23. Another CB to play at RB (i.e. a straight replacement for McKenna) or to play on the right of a back three? In any case, we need to attract better players than Muirhead to get promoted.
