  1. So far then that's Keatings, Carrick & Eckersly all on their way out from Hearts ? Seems Hearts may be about to have a major clear-out ... Wouldn't mind grabbing a couple of lads from them, however I highly doubt they would be in our budget ! Be interesting to see our squad size next season to, after all the "strength in depth" talk from last season, I'm curious if we will cut down a bit of remain about the same seeing as 2 of the "biggies" will be gone ... Plus side is Vaughan/Callachan are 2 players we haven't had to sign who can definitely be good additions, now if only we can do that every season or 2 !
  2. Looking to next season I'd be hoping to keep McGurn, Thomson, Barr, Watson, McKeown (never thought I'd say that), Callachan, Ando, Conroy, Stewart & Vaughan ... I think what we have the now is a pretty decent side tbh, as for why they play either good or horrendous without any consistency is another discussion ... McGurn nothing needs mentioned, I enjoy our back line with McKeown-Watson-Barr-Thomson and i feel if we can add a creative man in the middle with Callachan whilst keeping Conroy/Ando at either side we would have a decent midfield to ... Up top Vaughan/Stewart can't stop scoring when paired so again I think we are ok there ... Ofcourse it wouldn't be a world beating team, but it would be another season building on a consistent team who have showed in glimpses they can do very well ... The only question I now have is how can we play so well 1 week to look like school boys the next ? Murray ? Guess another year will show us ....
  3. IMO Elliot is our Balotelli, you know he has some magic, that at this level can really make him special ... However before you even get to see a glimpse of it you have to hope he's not injured, hope he's woke up on the right side of the bed, ignore the diving, ignore the heads down attitude, ignore the moaning at the ref and then maybe, just maybe if he's up for it you'll see something special .... Not worth the wage for us if you ask me, we can get better attacking options elsewhere I'm sure
  4. Said it in the Hearts thread and I'm glad a few people have said it in here to ... Lets hope Murray gets the message, the young guys MUST now be giving a go to see what their made of .... Callachan & Vaughan could really be players we can build around in the coming seasons, Callachan has had his shot and proved to me hes first choice CM next season, now it would be nice to see Vaughan getting a similar chance Lets dump the deadwood (Fox, Elliot, McKay, Scott) and give another few young guys a go and see if any of them offer anything for next season or the season beyond. We know we will be playing Championship Football next season, so lets start building what we can now and add later when possible, I'm hoping Murray has an idea who's getting the punt thus allowing him to drop them to allow others a chance ... Then again seeing him let Fox/Scott back into the team whilst benching Conroy/Anderson, I'm unsure if he has any clue to anything, but we can hope haha !
  5. I always ponder if we have these ambitions why don't we try do it the proper way, the Hamilton way, lets really focus on youth and not bother signing these has been's .... Surely someone back there has to decide there has to come a time we push to really invest in our youth and move on from these Liam Fox's / Callum Elliots / Ross Perrys (thankfully we have) of this world ... Its taken almost half a season to give Callachan a lengthy run and its come up trumps, now it should surely be time for Vaughan to be giving a chance ? Especially like said above, the season is basically over if the next few games go against us ... Obviously this isn't a magic formula and we won't be Hamilton over night and is also 100% definitely a lot harder than it sounds, however if it works for one it can work for everyone to an extent ... Ronny Deiia said it best about Celtic and it sticks to every club in Scotland ... "We can't attract big players, so we have to make them" ... Wasn't the point of this whole "Fife" merger to be to bring the best Youth through ? Hows this gone, any updates !? I know it hasn't been long so it needs more time to be giving a chance, but i hope there's more to it than re-branding it into "Fife's Youth". Lets face it, could given a couple of lads a season a shot in the first team when they are deemed "ready" be any worse than watching Fox look lost in the middle of the pitch, Elliot not score in over 15 Month or Perry having a pick-nick as his man walks by him weekly ...
  6. Rather ironic ... Last season at this time we couldn't buy a win, the winter collapse was well and truly under way and we looked absolute horrendous ... This season its roll reversal, we look probably the best I've seen us in a long time & for the first time we are getting the quality out of the players we should have gotten from the start ! All of a sudden there's fight, there's desire, there's determination, there's people who actually look like they want to play for the jersey ... No more is it 11 diddy's who look like they've never met ... Whilst I'm sure a big chunk of this credit has to go towards Malpas (far to much of a coincidence we pick up as he comes in), Grant Murray deserves an enormous amount as well for sticking at it and for now turning it around ... I won't say we are out of the woods yet, another collapse and it could be round 2, but for now lets hope we can keep this same fight and determination up until the seasons end, we may not have much to play for, we may lose a few games but I think the main thing is at least now I think a few more fans will accept it !
  7. After all that the draw outcome has kind of deflated me ... I said that the only team I didn't want was Inverness as we stand a 50/50 chance Vs Hibs, QOS & Falkirk, we should have dispatched of Spartans/Berwick & Utd/Celtic = Paydays .... Inverness offer us no big ££ and probably no chance of a win and who do we get ... Inverness, salt to the wounds is its not even at bloody Starks ... Typical
  8. Hopefully stats by banging one in against "his" Edinburgh rivals then haha !
  9. Loan signing news @ 3pm according to our Twitter, assuming its this Carrick chap then !?
  10. Why would he want to downgrade to the smallest club he has ever been to in Newco
  11. One day I miss The Chase and this happens ... Furious hahaha !
  12. Agree with all of this ... I think our squad is fine minus full back cover, although Barr appears to be able to play left back, it would be nice to have another body in there ! A striker I would like, but again we have 3 & then Vaughen who doesn't appear to be anywhere near Murray's first team plans which is a shame as I'd like to see him having a run in the squad ! Regarding the bold, I actually think Callachan has been very impressive in his run in the side lately & I hope he is someone that remains there for the time being ... Hes young, will obviously be hungry to show what he can offer and certainly isn't a worse choice than Fox/Scott, even Moon has struggled to find his feet this season ... On that note though, I would like to see a Moon/Callachan combo at some point with Moon dropping, allowing Callachan to do the running !
  13. I might be in the minority but I'd rather we didn't go near Baird again ... We've seen twice now he can walk away and sign somewhere else at the drop of a button (not that you can blame him) and I would rather we don't push our current strikers all down a pecking order to be sitting in another strikerless situation this time next summer ... I'm a big fan of Baird's, but we would probably be pushing Stewart out of the team & Vaughen out of the Squad and for what, someone who yes can deliver, but shows loyalty doesn't appear to be a word in his dictionary ... Don't get me wrong, I can understand why he moved both times, but that doesn't do anything to help our cause if it happens for a third occasion !
  14. Just curious, more so to them who don't think McKay is a good capture, even as a squad player to bolster Ando/Conroy, what else would everyone like during this window ? Obviously loans will probably be our only signings ... For me I still think we need full back cover, preferably a LB, but really Thompson/McKeown need someone in there to help if injury occurs or McKeown has his usual bombscare games, I suppose Barr can play LB but with Perry going out you would think he would be a cover for Hill/Watson .... Also wouldn't mind another Striker, I really like Vaughan, but if Murray doesn't have the balls to play him regularly then loan him out and bring someone else in ....
  15. Said in other threads I wouldn't mind McKay staying so I'm happy at that ... Can't imagine everyone will be though haha !
  16. I'm with Paco on this, if McGurn doesn't remain our No1 and is signed to an 18 Month deal come Jan ill be helping lay the explosives in San Starko ... Serious though, I'd hope there isn't even any thought atm in the Raith Coaches heads that Cuthbert is a better option than McGurn once he is fit again, Cuthbert is good, but McGurn is god.
  17. To be honest with Smith going, McKays loan ending (assuming we pay his wage) and Perry hopefully off to, that should free up a few of wages despite having Malpas come in ... With the money we generated last season and will continue to rake it in this season, I personally have no doubt there should still be some sort of budget to grab a few loan deals in Jan .... I'd be happy grabbing a "goalscorer" so to speak and another LB/FB cover ... Everywhere else I reckon we have enough quality/cover for who we are, when you break it down I actually think we have a reasonably decent mid table team ! Onto tonight, heard it here first, Malpas will step in and name a 4-3-3 all out attack, 5-0 win ... (Xmas "spirits" still strong here) ....
  18. For me all of this, I think the BOD deserve credit where (I would hope) they have seen a problem finally and decided to address it in the sense of bringing in a well known man who surely has a various degree of contacts as to which we could try and take advantage of in January ! I think it may be a case of no BS to Murray, he should be in the team or he should not, he should stay in the match day squad or he should go, we need cover here or we don't and hopefully Malpas like said has the correct contacts to get a few nice loans ... Wishfull thinking I suppose, but I like to try be positive until proven otherwise
  19. Uh ohhh, he's used that dreaded term already, we are all doomed: "He said: “First and foremost I have been looking for a job back in football and when this opportunity came up it made perfect sense.""
  20. Whilst im 50/50 on this and hate the whole "Director Of Football" term/role, it surely cant be worse than the crap we are putting on display at the minute ? ... For me it reads we now have someone in to learn the club from youth to reserves to first team and if/when Murray is punted, we have someone to help in a new Manager or someone to take that direct step up ... Whether or not Malpas is a suited man for that role is to be seen .... Still, ill take it with some positivity for the time being !
  21. Call me crazy but I'd be more than happy with Davo on loan, we have 0 players in that team who actually fight ... I thought Scott may have been that type of player but obviously Murray thinks otherwise .... Would laugh if its a Murray sacking but obviously wont be, I did see yesterday SSN reported Sevco where recalling all loans players so it might not be a McKay extension ? .... Probably a Perry 6 Month extension knowing Murray LOL
  22. Funny, this is exactly what i said to my Dad, Murray is for me to Mr Nicey Nice, when the players are a shambles he doesn't seem like he has the fire in his belly to get them told straight ... Im sure somebody like Sinky would rip them a new behind so to speak, whilst still motivating them to get out there and fight !
  23. Football is now a non contact sport, he hates the SFA for making it a non contact sport, we are playing pish "non man-like" football as opposed to his day it was men vs men and Hibs should focus on beating the Jambos as opposed to chanting "who are you" ... Unsure if i've missed anything ? Was pretty funny actually ! Edit - Like said the PA was a bit ropey, may have misheard some of it but thats what I took from it !
  24. Not to have the following defeats all by the 1st 3rd of the season: 4-0, 4-0, 4-0, 4-3, 6-1, 5-1, that is not acceptable at all IMO, honestly I would have taken 7th before the season started, but the way we have played and lost goals and been completely bummed by some teams as well as failing to beat 3 teams with 10 men is an utter joke !
