Pretty confident we will get higher crowds than Ayr. Wont be by much but I cant see our home gates dropping off by that much (if we make a reasonable start that is. If it’s a disaster of a season the all bets are off)
Both teams were utter rank last season, but when the sides met the other week Ayr looked a good bit worse than ourselves. If both teams keep the core of what they have and recruit sensibly, we will be better than Ayr.
I'll be very surprised if you keep your better players, full time championship wages playing in league one is not sustainable. If you do you'll win the league but I seriously doubt it. As for crowds which ever team is leading the league will have the bigger crowds.0 -
Rubbish! Our budget will be by far the strongest in that league. Ayr had the smallest budget last season and Airdrie are keeping theirs tight as to build themselves gradually through predominantly youth full time contracts. We have assets to move on, players under contract and a big clear out of wages that were misspent last season. £600 per week for the likes of McHattie, even half of that would get you one of the better players in League 1 on a full time contract. The club are quite correctly taking their time on appointing a manager that they believe can get us up. They're taking time to ensure they do t make the same mistake a third time round and their taking their time to get a plan in place. But yet people still want to criticise them..?
I hate to break it to you guys but your budget will not be any bigger than ours, your crowds will not be any bigger than ours. We have a stable team used to competing in league one and a management team that understand the league. Unless you pull some rabbits out of the hat then I would suggest that you might find next season harder than you think.0 -
Yeah was thinking Ayr a possible destination. Would be a disastrous move losing Marr to a direct rival. Surely Goody will think hard about that.
Doubt we would be interested in Marr tbh. Unless Meggat moves on of course.0 -
Can't believe after we gave you a get out of jail card you go and f*ck it up! Really wanted you to stay up as I thought we would walk the league now I'm not so sure.

A serious question guys do you think your safe or will you be dragged into the relegation battle?

But Ayr are just below us with a game in hand........
I'd take your 2 extra points to our game in hand any day tbh.0 -
He's 37 and played 7 games in the past 3 years. Those stats wouldn't fill me with confidence.

Relax. It's an absolute certainty you'll win next weekend.I'm not so sure about that. Not much between the teams but home advantage means that Raith should win.

The whole episode is actually quite funny, not if your a rovers fan though.

I have to give huge credit to the vast majority of Raith fans here. At first I thought how unfair this whole situation was and then when you look further you realise it's all the clubs fault.
Most Raith fans instead of supporting their manager and chairman's stance have sussed quite clearly that their club was solely responsible for this whole embarrassing affair. Why didn't you just get a young keeper or an out of contract keeper, Rab Douglas? No Hughes wanted a top quality keeper from Celtic and when that fell through cried wolf.0 -
See in the sonstv post game interview Aitken saying that players are beginning to ask about contracts for next season.
Aitken says that his own future has nt been decided and that for various reasons they cant yet speak to players.
There's a balance to be found here I think. We should offer terms to our better players just now and have everyone else playing for a contract. As we've seen with Robbie Thomson, players will be talking and commiting to other teams already.
I thought about who I'd keep from the squad, nearly all of them!
Isn't wise to wait until you know what league you'll be playing in next season.0 -
I always liked Aitken but I'm not sure a Dundee United or an ex premiership team would be keen on him. Think his level is championship tbh.

You might get rid of Locke but the transfer window is closed, so any new manager would have to work with the same players

As it stands, only America beats us to the worst appointment of anyone to anything ever.
We have no hope of pulling out of this spiralling nosedive towards relegation until Locke is relieved of his duties.
Please keep Locke until the end of the season we need more teams in the relegation battle0 -
Having a quick look around the available players, it seems defender Craig Reid is available. He was playing with our new signing Stuart Carswell at Keflavik, I'd like to think we'd be sounding him out at least for cover at the back.
We're meant to be in talks with Reid, so that means he'll end up signing with someone else as has been the case with all our recent targets.0 -
It's a total no brainier if Little has offers from both Sons and Ayr then surely his best option would be an Ayr team with no strikers but plenty of attacking midfielders to create chances. Dumbarton on the other hand need defenders.

I understand that Stevenson has signed tonight and that Oesi and Vaughn are going out on loan.
Trust me guys if Stevenson was good enough for the championship he would be signing for us. Good luck with your new passenger.0 -
I am a massive Stevo fan but his performances for us and Dumbarton suggest he hasn't got it any more, very strange signing imo.

I'm guessing that after the initial excitement about the signing of Stevenson things have now cooled. Just like what happened with us last season he has now become a bit part player I'm guessing?

Who would have thought at the end of last season after 10 games of championship games Ayr would have double the points that Dunfermline have. Funny old game, had you guys comfortably in the top half but looks like we have the better manager who knows what he's doing.

It is all going tits up now.
No surprise we lost at Ayr.
We have no goals in the team only hope is DOBBIE teams now marking him tightly goal threat gone.
Surely with all our injuries we should try and get someone in on loan.
We are trying but not hard enough.
This great start we have had will soon be a distant memory if we don,t sort it now.
Didn't think you guys were that bad today. You created chances and could have won the game if you had taken them. Once you get your injured players back you'll be fine, still better than any other team I've seen this season when at full strength.0 -

Surely engaging is the progressive and reasonable course of action?
My politics stem from growing up in an extreme left wing / SWP household so I know only too well how deluded people can be about politics. I know full well how people can take any situation and twist it to fit in with their delusions. I grew up marching against fascists by being part of The Anti-Nazi League and detest extremism in any form.
I have left leaning views regarding education and health provision and believe in helping the vulnerable in society I believe in equality for gender, race and ethnicity and sexual orientation. but I believe ambition, entrepreneurialism, free market capitalism. Business creates wealth, jobs and prosperity in a way Govt's never can. I believe in small government, devolved power to the regions and localism. I believe in the pre-eminence of The Union, the most successful, peaceful and prosperous collection of countries anywhere in the world . I believe in individualism, creativity free speech and free expression. I believe in the rule of law. I believe in secularism and rolling back the influence of religion in society.
Make of that, and all it's inherent contradictions, what you will. I don't know if there's a label that fits but I'm sure someone will find one because people get scared when they can't find a box to push you in.
Sounds like a Liberal to me, not a bad choice btw.0 -

No one's saying the figures aren't accurate, Anthony.
They absolutely show how dreadfully Scotland is being run as part of the UK.
The fact you want to continue to show deference shows what a simpleton you truly are.
Fide your dead right for once in your life. The GERS figures do show how badly Scotland is being run as part of the UK at the moment, by a totally incompetent FM and her SNP ministers.

Not really we're taking part time championship players and offering full time league one wages. By McCalls own reckoning this is cheaper than being full time in the championship
