  1. Murray needs to carry the can for that again tonight. I couldnt even yell you what the game plan was meant to be.  Not helped by Euan Murray having yet another shite game but at no point did I think we had a way back into it. Basically just hump it and hope.

Depressing as hell. Suspect it might now be a case of hanging on for 4th

Murray get your fucking finger out yer arse. But wait I better not say any more. I have the right to complain about this lack of defensive cover. Whether we like it or not Keith Watson will never be the answer. We gifted a mediocre team three points AGAIN. awaits the clapping seals disapproval though.

Give it a fucking rest. No one is coming in to defend Murray after today, but you playing the aggrieved Cassandra figure is wearing in the extreme.

This is getting beyond a joke now.

murray Watson and corr should be starting and playing 3 cb’s.

is IM going through some sort of midlife crisis? Why have 3 cb’s and play one - one who has been out injured at that! Dick has not been very good the past 5/6 weeks!

    Embarrassing!

I don’t agree with needing a new CB of all are fit, just play the three we have but a new FB is certainly something we have to be looking at!

No, we shouldnt play that flat 3-5-2 ever again. Gave us f**k all going forward, flat midfield was no more solid than the 4-1-3-2 or 4-2-3-1.

    Defending was an appaling joke.

I always thought Jamie Gullan was a brilliant player for us, and I’m absolutely gutted he’s away. Was he a free transfer, or did we get a fee for him?

    Undisclosed fee.

At the end of the day, Gullan never recreated the form from his second spell. I think he was so good then for the reasons he's struggled since: That McGlynn was able (due to resources vs others at league 1 level) to play a fairly loose attacking three where Gullan's hybrid style could actually flourish.

Outside of that though, as noted before he's like a better version of Iain Williamson. Not quite a centre forward, not quite a winger. Good enough to play football at this level, but never able to make himself indespensible in any position.

That and his injury issues. Never able to get more than 4 games in a row without pulling up. On the other hand, no doubting his commitment or the quality of his contributions. Murray might have forged him into a unconventional type of Number 9 but for spending most of the season injured.

Rudden should give us an extra bit of quality. More of a goal every 2.5-3 games whereas Gullan was every 4.5-5 games. More of a conventional forward who adds height and strength.

Looking at another defeat then. No defenders yet again. What does Rudden bring that Gullan didn’t, answers on a postcard.

Murray and Watson have trained all week, at least one if not both should be able to start tomorrow.

Rudden is an entirely different type of player to Gullan, much more akin to Hamilton. That allows us to sub off Hamilton without losing our game plan, or it allows us to get two big CFs on the park which really would give sides a biy of a nightmare.

Rudden also has a better goal scoring record at this level over Gullan, as important as many of his contributions, even this season, have been.

Absolutely no chance that is in that email on purpose haha.

Hamilton is one of the first on the teamsheet, but we must have a better option than me currently do when he is not fit or has to come off. Rudden fits the bill for me 100%. A good move by the club.

Maybe a bit harsh on yerself...

Were not going to win any play offs, were safe from relegation, let him start building for next season and alternate playing Corr and Masson

This is the second most mental take...

If we aspire to progress out of our current league, then this is the type of game we have to be winning.

I accept we played against huge defenders and midfield players. but we have to stop being so naive with our forward passing game plan.  I also accept some of our forward players were again naive when making decisions in the opposition box.  How many passes in the box should have been shots.  How many shots should have been passes?

Smith is fast and also clever but recently he has missed so many chances.  To be honest I genuinely think we sold a better forward to Bonness today.  Mitchell has a far better eye for goal.

    ... after this.

That Dylan Tait announcement is embarrassing as f**k. Why not just wait until it’s officially sorted and put out a simple ‘Dylan Tait’s loan spell has ended early and he will return to Hibs.’

It reads like he's been up to something he shouldn't have been? Or has he just been shite?

  9. None of it is an exact science. As noted Laidlaw was released with a general feeling of relief given how prone he was to crises of confidence and he's went on to a good career.

On the other hand Tait went for semi decent money and what many probably thought was an opportunity to develop into a premier league player and there hs is back playing league 1 football.

There are very few guys, even at our level who come in and basically command a starting berth, and that's really where you need to be to have a hope of cementing a career at this level. Vaughan did, so did Callachan and Matthews. Two of those three were held back by injuries but Callachan has made a decent go of it at a higher level.

You pay your money and take your chances. Potential is only just that, and there are no guarentees.

As for Masson, were he the only young CB we had, I might have more sympathy for Tx's argument. However, it's hard to see Murray mishandling the younger players when he does in fact give game time to Corr and McNeil. Masson is clearly behind Corr in terms of development, and there is a point where simpy being 'badged' as a CB isnt going to get you in front of any number of converted midfielders if you arent developing well enough.

Both him and Bird haven’t played in the same side since the incident. He played against us the week after because they had no one else. Since Bird came back from his suspension it’s been him that’s played and Hylton has been missing, then all of a sudden they part ways. Is that really a coincidence?

I remember Arbroath fans on here being fairly adamant he'd be away, weeks before all the nastiness.

That’s why you’ve good a squad? He needs to trust it, he signed Corr/McGill gave Masson a new deal so why not use them rather than having to play a winger and Midfielder at the back a leggy winger ie Easton for Gullan or smith it’s clear he doesn’t have faith or trust in some of the players

In terms of Gullan and Smith I agree. Vaughan had one of those rare instances where he was genuinely shite. After all these years you could make that charge maybe a handful of times.

At the back, I'm less convinced. Suspect if fit Matthews would have been in at right back but it's hardly surprising that someone coming back from that time out would develop other niggles (how often did Vaughan, after every ACL, come back then pull up for a hammy injury for several weeks)

Brown has played plenty at CB. I dont think's particularly different in there from Murray who we recognise as a CB despite his documented faults. Would you rather play Masson who has little experience, or play a couple of guys with a few hundred games under their belts. Perhaps Masson hasnt progressed intraining despite the new deal as well?

For all that, for me - the issues were largely in the final third of the pitch.
