We are really playing poorly by all accounts. Teams are dominating us and the lack of any vocal support from the stands tells you that.

There's no decent football being played at the moment. It stems from the midfield. We always get dominated in there, which baffles me with the players we have. I'd really like to see Rossco starting a game. I've watched Smith all through this season and I honestly have no idea what he brings? I'd actually have preferred Ross. We create nothing when he plays.

We didn't concede last night which is absolutely huge.

Don't let the 6-0 beating of Arbroath fool anyone, we'll probably manage to make a 10 part drama out of the game with nobody knowing what way the ending will go 😂

This feels a tad harsh. No doubt we arent playing to dominate sides with the ball now, on the other hand we arent playing nearly as open.

The last three games we've sat a lot deeper without the ball and been content to hit teams on the break, and to sit in on leads. Confidence is obviously a bit brittle but we are also 7/9 and level on points at the top of the table. I'd hope we'd be able to build on that, to try and take more control in games again but at the same time I wouldn't say we were technically poor against United or Ayr where we played to a tight, limited plan.

If or when Dundee United win the league I'd imagine there will be a lot of regret on your part. So many chances to go above them or push on with the lead you had around Christmas, and you always seem to never capitalise on their slip ups. I say this with no malice as I'd actually prefer you guys to go up over them

Two weeks ago we were in danger of going 7 points behind them, and are level now. Granted, our head to head with them has kept it more competitive than it might otherwise have been, and that's cancelled out our massive bed wetting in January.

Agree too many changes up front tonight. I see why he did it he wanted the pace of Smith and height of Hamilton who I thought did a reasonable consodering he had f**k all to work with. As well as another game on Friday.

Look it's a mid week game in February despite the effort you will get shite games in a season.

We just didn't break Morton down, they had 2 players on Easton.

I don't think our midfield created enough either.

Nah, agreed probably needed a change of shape to go 4-2-3-1 from the start to get some purchase in midfield, as Morton worked hard to press high up the park.

  4. We never really got going. Morton really good at closing down the space in midfield - particularly the first and third quarters of the game. Got hard working forwards as well. You can see why they maybe struggled a bit before Strapp came back. He does offer such a singular talent with that throw in. Turns any throw in over the halfway line into a half decent chance in the box, or at the very least into good territory.

Murray's line up didn't work. Connolly had one or two good moments but was mostly outdone physically as Rovers tried to pick up loose second balls in midfield. Smith did nothing of note and hasn't now since the Thistle game. Wpuld love to have seen Hamilton and Rudden together as by that point we'd resorted to trying the ball over the top anyway.

Credit to the back 4 for keeping a rare clean sheet though.

Hamilton had to start this one as quite simply, he's our best player in the air in both boxes. 3 games in 6 days as well so can see the logic with bringing in the players Murray has.

Aye, I get the notion of squad rotation and was obvious that Smith and Connolly were being saved for this on Saturday,  at the same time I'm not sure Hamilton and Smith is going to work that well. Hoping I'm just ignorant tbqfhwy

  6. I'm guessing for us, a lot will depend on the relative fitness of one out of two of Shaun Byrne and Euan Murray, and how that impacts where Brown plays.

Given neither Callum Smith or Aidan Connolly played any minutes on Saturday, I'd expect at least one to start tonight, probably to save Josh Mullin's legs.

Pretty sure he'll start Rudden and Vaughan up front. Can't not play that partnership just now.

I'm not going to trawl back through interviews for quotes, but Imrie's had a go just yesterday at Raith 'having a lot to say about us' this season. I'm sure he knows better than I do.

Does he though? He doesn't come across as someone who has a particularly high bar set for what constitutes needle.

I recall Murray after the game at Starks talking about Morton having a definite game plan, and not wanting to get sucked into how the play as it stopped Rovers playing their game. Not sure it was particularly disrespectful.

Was their any handbags at the Cappielow game?

I'd say Imrie's more than justified for having a chip on his shoulder for the way him and his team have been talked about this season, Raith being one of the main culprits. I'd maybe have preferred the comments to wait until after we've beaten Raith, but Imrie feeds off the hatred and if this is his way of firing everyone up then fair enough.

Lineup is anyone's guess after Saturday's bloodbath but the more I think about it the more I don't mind the idea of Quitongo through the middle. Seen Raith being undone a few times this season by a willing runner in behind, Lewis McGregor of Airdrie etc.

Edit: Just noticed Imrie's comments in the tele, Muirhead and Wilson should be back tonight, Oakley is a maybe. Big boost for us.

    Have we? What was said?

Aye, but still have up to the minute reports from Fife Flyers bottom of the table clash with “Nottingham Storm” It’s infuriating

Flyers had the same coach for 20 odd years and have played more than a decade in a closed shop league with no relegation. FFP probably just had 3 stock report types they recycled.

I heavily suspect, as rumoured, we were in for Ashcroft weeks ago and either we've gotten fed up waiting or (more likely) we've been told outright that he's no longer available for loan.

Brown feels like a warm body and not too much else, on available evidence. He doesn't directly address a weakness in as much as he'd be coming in for Millen who is by no means a bad player for us, but the option to use Brown on the right of a three is interesting (we still don't have a left sided wing back to really make that work, but it would at least put Millen in a better position).

Right back was the one position on the park where we didn't have an immediate replacement (if you'll allow Callum Hannah as second choice left back) so in that sense it does improve the squad, but it does also have a "f**k it" vibe, in the sense of bringing someone else in now is better than holding on for another fortnight and potentially ending up with nobody.

It's got real Kevin Mcbride vibes.
