  1. We got £400k for mclean and got him back until the end of his contract. In terms of maximising what we could get for an out of contract player that's fantastic. Don't really care what the two mini cheek yo yo clubs have got for players to be honest. I'd rather we didn't sell any good players.
  2. Bbc news is literally a red-top. Sensationalist headline to grab readers. That's all.
  3. The boom was surely well finished by 1971?
  4. I doubt it would. People are allowed to hold views and say things that you disagree with. They aren't allowed to discriminate or harass. It is perfectly possible for some religious nutter to treat gay people respectfully and even handedly and but publicly advocate conversion. Remember that the liberal consensus is fragile. It is a majority view but not by as much as we'd like to think. I would hate to abuse the majority position to thought-police the right and erode free speech because if they become a majority they would take it away from liberals and minorities in a heartbeat if the precedent is there. Feel free to tell spatula boy his views are pathetic though.
  5. If they could just be open when most folk aren't at work i think they'd do much better. I haven't done a regression analysis or anything but i'd expect a close correlation between changes in stay at home housewife numbers and numbers of independent food shops.
  6. 1/2 ain't bad Who's played for you that you wouldn't mind turning up in the dugout at some point? Michael O'Neil would be the front runner for us, a big plus being that he has little in the way of reputation as a player to tarnish.
  7. Baldur Bett. Dons and Peterhead. Son of Jim. Presumably won't make either team but the criteria are all over the place so I thought I'd give it a shot.
  8. Your point was clear. You should have used a graph, it's the only language these people understand.
  9. In my lifetime the dons have had Jockey Scott, God, Roy Aitken and [memory repressed by subconscious]
  10. I was wondering why Hearts weren't suing for their Cup win too.
  11. Fourth depends on the cup though and i never saw how that was resolved. We could have ended up drawing straws or something. Or we could have if it wasn't an establishment club in fourth.
  12. You need to be careful what yous say in public. They got that antimask lad in the states and now Bolsonaro. The truth is dangerous.
  13. Yes you can. What an idiotic thing to say. Still none the wiser as to what this cancel culture is. Appears to be twitter based so I’m assuming it’s shit for c***s.
  14. I hadn't even noticed that bit. I'm delighted for all 500 million of their fans
  15. Close [Note SCO] Scotland (SCO): The 2019–20 Scottish Premiership was abandoned due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Scotland, and the 2019–20 Scottish Cup was postponed and could not be completed by the UEFA registration deadline of 3 August 2020. The second-placed, third-placed and fourth-placed teams of the league at the time of the abandonment based on the average number of points per matches played for each team, Rangers, Motherwell and Aberdeen, were selected to play in the 2020–21 UEFA Europa League by the Scottish Football Association, entering the second qualifying round (second-placed team) and first qualifying round respectively.[31] Rangers will qualify for the 2020–21 UEFA Champions League if they win the 2019–20 UEFA Europa League. I must have missed the SFA announcement
  16. I was a bit bleary-eyed this morning whilst assembling my breakfast. I put the kettle on, poured a bowl of museli, sliced some banana over the top, rinsed some blueberries and put them on, followed by some semi skimmed milk then took a pack of coffee out of the cupboard and liberally sprinkled grounds over my bowl of cereal. Fuming.
  17. Either this is a special rule that is being introduced, which seems unlikely as is would generate negligible revenue and a lot of bad press, or it is a load of shite.
  18. Instead of me pontificating here's a proper report. My impression is that the "scroungers" narrative has been mainstream for as long as i can remember. The target group has varied from single mothers to immigrants and people with big families. Benefits-Stigma-in-Britain (1).pdf
  19. There are certainly stereotypes in Walliams books. Raj (in just about every book) is a shopkeeper who is always trying to punt out of date sweets to kids with shite offers. (buy 24 get 1 free). There are a couple of books with loud and jolly fat carribean ladies. On the other hand, the main character in Slime has (illustrated at least) dark skin and this is never an issue. The sterotypes feel unnecessary and i'm a bit uncomfortable with them, but they are at least sympathetic characters. They did also have a mentally disabled woman who made seagull noises and was also faking it. I agree though that neither were making a wider point. However, given the red top narratives on benefit scroungers and the undeserving poor at the time it probably played to a certain mindset's prejudices. I saw an interview with Warren Mitchell where he appeared upset that racists didn't get the satire and used to congratulate him in the street for "sticking it to them".
  20. Disappointed tbh. I thought the mile high club was a bit more racy.
