  1. The only reason I could come up with on Saturday was that we were playing two debutants at centre-half and we wanted some experience either side. I thought Johnston was even more unlucky to miss out.
  2. I was sitting behind the goal and thought the shot came off his thigh but the TV should clear that up. I thought the Raith player was backing into Kelly and was expecting a foul but if he'd just caught it as he should have done there wouldn't have been an issue. None of that matters though as we dropped the tempo after our strong period at the start of the second half and then Raith saw it out quite comfortably and deservedly with a cherry on top at the end. An ignominious end to Stevie's managerial career but at least I had a nice lunch in South Queensferry and got to visit Stark's Park for the first time in decades.
  3. I've no idea why that was a penalty. Seemed to come off his thigh. Arms by his side. No one even claimed.
  4. I'd still rather have Lamie at centre half than O'Donnell. These words may come back to haunt me.
  5. For some reason I went into the St. Johnstone game expecting an improvement and a win which is most unlike me. Cue our worst performance of the season. Obviously I'm hoping for a win today but I'm not getting my hopes up, particularly as we don't seem to have any fit centre halves.
  6. Where do you think the ball would have ended up if it was squared to him? I've got Gerry's email address through work although I'm sure the club would already have it.
  7. I think it was McStay that scored the goal that got us promotion at Thistle. Our last goal (for now) in the first division/championship as the last game was 0-0 at Forfar. I really am showing my age now.
  8. And here's a half-built Stark's Park and the Man United assistant manager at the double.
  9. I'm looking forward to Saturday's game as a break from the monotony of our league campaign and I had a look back at some previous encounters. Not played each other in a long while and quite few of the games were during the period of stadium reconstruction which gives an extra bit of nostalgia (although not particularly in these clips) Quite a few Rovers fans have commented on the 3-3 draw with Hetherington's late equaliser (never a free-kick). A slightly earlier in for 'Well when the away fans get to stand against a dodgy looking railing at the top of a steep embankment. And top of the league Motherwell (I know, it was only the end of August) dish out a thumping. To be fair, most of the videos from this spell seem to be comfortable Motherwell wins but at least Rovers get a goal in this one.
  10. To be fair, it was a sort of permy mullet. And yes, the Marshall was a much better player although my memory must be playing tricks on me - I thought Murray was a left-back and McLeod a right-back.
  11. I didn't know Ruby played for you. A bit of a boo-boys' favourite in his time at Motherwell although, it has to be said, he had a tremendous 80's perm.
  12. I think there was an assumption across the 'Well support he'd head south or go to the SFA. I've no idea why your complimentary post has attracted a red dot.
  13. His statement says he was approached by a number of clubs after announcing his decision to stand down and he chose Aberdeen. He possibly knew he would have options if he chose to stand down but it seems a bit odd that he's not taking a wee bit of a break before starting up there as the suggestions were he was run down. Maybe he thinks it will be less demanding without the emotional attachment but I doubt it, particularly if he's commuting.
  14. They've already announced he's leaving. The next statement will be to announce his replacement, it might mention that Burrows is now taking up a new post at Aberdeen and wish him success in his new career. Or it might not - doesn't really matter.
  15. We could be doing with another no-nonsense centre-half like big Rob Newman who we got on loan from Norwich. I see he's now head of recruitment at West Ham.
  16. I had a wander round a couple of months ago and found it nice enough but a wee bit odd and lacking in character. The wee market stall / beach hut area was quite nice though. They didn't seem to have any centre halves available though.
  17. Boyd was popular when we won the cup and when he went to Chelsea. It was when he went to Celtic things started to turn sour. Anyway, is Kelly not the captain?
  18. I think Hammell will have the Raith and St. Mirren games to show if his signings are making a difference. I just don't see him getting the boot when he's brought in a defender and midfielder who haven't even played yet. He's also been extremely unlucky with injuries.
  19. I see Billy Thomson has died, aged 64. His stint with us was only a short part of his very impressive career. RIP Billy.
  20. I was stopped at a red light at a junction today. When the lights changed to green, I started to move off and the guy in the Merc behind put the foot down and overtook me while crossing the junction before speeding away.
  21. Stone's Go To IPA. Really liking the stuff from Stone in the Beer 52 box.
  22. Buenaveza Salt & Lime Lager from Stone. Exactly as described and very tasty.
