  1. Armstrong has done it for Scotland? Done what? Its pretty different for someone to "do it" for Scotland when they don't get an opportunity.
  2. I dont think anyone is suggesting a personal grudge. But if Steve Clarke does or doesn't call him up tomorrow, the debate will continue wether he should or shouldn't have.
  3. I have absolutely no idea how you could judge that armstrong is currently a better player. And I dont think you do either.
  4. Its one in the same isn't it, his ability at the time would be indicative of his potential. Its interesting they never seen that in armstrong tho.
  5. It will be evidence that he's part of clarkes thinking or not. Only that.
  6. Apologies, I didn't realise you were part of the Sporting Lisbon scouting team and could factually quote the reasons that gauld was selected and not armstrong. For some actual facts gauld is nearly 3 years younger than armstrong. So that would probably have an affect on their consistency and physical development. The fact gauld as a very young player didn't start a cup final where as the much older armstrong did doesn't give any indication on how they might be performing now. What we can say is Gauld is the main man for his team. Where as Armstrong is in and out of the Southampton team. Who's the better player right now. I would guess Gauld. But without seeing them both at the same level like playing for Scotland. Its very difficult to judge. Does Gauld deserve this chance, id say yes. Its overdue.
  7. This is interesting, I've read that book and knew that. But anyone I've ever told that to seemed to think it surely couldn't be true So in a way Garrincha has won, hes shagged a goat or 3, won World cups, shagged countless woman and nobody remembers the goats. And the goats will be long gone now to tell their story. Unless in Brazil they all know that and think he's a weirdo Its been a long time but did he not say it was common in his village or town for the young men to do that? I think he did. Also for a while he had to wear his boots on the wrong feet, it was an interesting book I remember that much.
  8. Tbf everything you've said their id agree with, but its that bit that really confuses me. Opinions is one thing, but I just don't believe people are watching Gaulds full MLS games and then Armstrongs Southampton games and comparing them. And even if you did it would still be very hard to make a decent assessment. But are then prepared to state categorically that armstrong is a better player than gauld Not just Craig but my mate @Gordopolis, what you on about man!
  9. Im not sure how you could read into what gaulds said to think he's not that arsed. From what I interpret into his interviews is that it would mean the world to him. But hes never being considered so why would he worry about it. Easy to say this in hindsight, and I get things have changed since your post. But I think it would certainly mean alot more to him than Anderson.
  10. Yet hasn't created anything like the same level of interest or excitement. Theres a reason for this. Football isn't as simple as just comparing numbers.
  11. Also a shock (to some) that a completely ambidextrous player can play right back as well as left. Also its not at all the case, he went to Brentford and was a starter immediately. If you think at that point Taylor was the superior player fair enough. But it would be a pretty minority view I would imagine.
  12. Tbh I was being nice, it wasn't just he couldn't play on the right. But he was also a worse player than Greg Taylor Thats the level of judgement, soak it in
  13. Some people are now denying it even happened @craigkillie
  14. Starting tonight away to Real Madrid, if anyone can be arsed watching it and tell me how he plays that would be smashing
  15. I hope he does play for us, but watching us having our pants pulled down by his other potential team. In my opinion isn't going to inspire that choice. Anyway who cares was just a throw away comment. Big harrys put us right back in this
  16. Whos to say? Hes 25, he could win a tournament with them rather than be in one.
  17. Hope Harvey Barnes isn't watching this Its not a great sales pitch eh
  18. Need to have a bit of a rethink and reshuffle steve Been a tough game, were sitting too deep yet still getting caught with the ball over the top.
  19. They have such a wide range of options
  20. In fairness that last point is a pretty good one. I was on the fence but thats swayed me. Get him in Steve!!
  21. The granny thing could be very important. If he can sing "you canny shove your granny off a bus" without any coaching that would for me be enough.
  22. Well no mate, what you have written is also a guess. Unless you know him personally? But thats probably/possibly a part of it too. Or all of the things I mentioned and you did may be a factor. Its about the timing for me, start of the qualifiers id have been all for it. Now well im not against it but I can definitely see and feel that argument. One important goal or good performance that makes a difference and im all in tho
  23. Im not sure its baseless, if someone has been asked numerous times before and now wants to come on board. Its a decent guess that its due to our likely qualification. And up turn in performances. Rather than love for Scotland eh? So I dont think its its unfair to speculate there jumping on the band wagon. Tbh im not sure how I feel about it, id have been alot more comfortable if say he had made himself available at the start of the qualifiers. Im up for improving the team tho and was well up for Adams and Gunn. And he's a good player who would definitely give us something. So I just don't know.
  24. Man, how am I meant to reply You've done them all, a pun plethora
