  1. Well thats impossible to say, what we do know is less match sharpness will affect performance. So he may have been able to play better had he been playing regularly. He would also have lasted the full 90 mins rather than have to be subbed off. So yeah it absolutely affected that performance.
  2. Think you might be accepting some of the rubbish that was posted on here. He may have played 30 games, but nothing remotely close to that in terms of actual minutes. So much so he's 4th choice now. This is what happens when players fall out of favour. Great for Scotland
  3. Hes certainly made arsenal a better team, in terms of success hes won nothing. I'd say its quite easy to argue hes making a mistake by sidelining Tierney. Hes easily good enough to be arsenals first choice. He was before and was excellent. It wasn't long ago you were saying when you said its great for Scotland when he was sitting on the bench
  4. Suppose it depends how much game time he gets? My concern would be with the pace he has and how direct he is if he drops down a division and ends up on the receiving end of some nasty tackles
  5. Strachan also gave plenty of young players their debut. Bringing in a young John Mcginn while he was playing in the championship springs to mind. But fair enough thats your opinion, I just don't see either example yours or mine really proving anything one way or the other. If there's a guy getting a game for Liverpool I'd say he's going to be considered regardless of his age, or who the manager is.
  6. If he can carry that into the competitive games then yeah I think so. Think its also a bit of a wild take reading earlier (not you) that clarke would give him a chance where previous managers wouldn't. Have we had anyone comparable in the last 30 years? A 17 year old on the cusp of a big team roasting the likes of bayern? Not that I can think of.
  7. down voting a post stops our players getting injured
  8. Thing can change fast in football, Liverpool will have 3 competitive games by then. If hes getting on the pitch for Liverpool and doing well id say its possible he could be in the squad.
  9. Think its a bit early to say "the much noted weaknesses in his game" Hes 17 and we've hardly seen him. If he didn't look like he was able to cross pass or shoot effectively. I doubt he would be anywhere near the Liverpool team like he is.
  10. After avoiding my phone all day finally get to watch this. Crawford is simply one of the best I've ever seen. An absolute masterclass from him. As mentioned previously, to think Ricky Burns managed to go 12 rounds with this guy shows how good he was in his prime also.
  11. I've a cracking idea for you, if you don't like reading opinions about Ryan gauld. Try not clicking on the thread thats titled "Ryan Gauld". Rather than expect people not to talk about him just incase you look.
  12. I dont know man, I mean maybe your watching the MLS on the regular im certainly not. So its hard to gauge his level really. Even if you were id say it would still be difficult to gauge his level. If your judging him on the player who was at hibs a few years ago then you might be right. But what I would say is im struggling to think of a more naturally talented young player to come from Scotland in recent years. Gilmour probably but we didn't see him in Scotland. He had everything bar size and power, but he looks alot stronger nowadays. There was a time that Gauld really looked to be going places. But was plagued by the most ridiculous run of circumstantial bad luck. In my opinion if he can get anywhere near to being the player he looked like he was going to be. Then he's one worth keeping an eye on for sure. The other thing is with a player like Gauld its all about confidence and form. Hes a proper creative footballer, and with the way his early career went after leaving Dundee utd it must have been difficult for him to get anything close to that.
  13. The guys only giving us a positive update on a potential player for us. It what the forums all about.
  14. Ach its alright, you could choose the lower head
  15. Christ, you will be shiting it for the champions league draw
  16. I cant remember exactly when, but I've got memories of an away game vs Greece where he was just absolutely ridiculously good. I think Craig Gordon was a brilliant keeper, but Goram is the best Scotland keeper I can remember.
  17. Good info, thats an interesting move. Should get some decent idea of what level he's at. Part of would have rather he had went to maybe a bundesliga 2 side tho.
  18. A mate of mine who was a centre back for Hamilton told me when they were playing motherwell when brown was manager. He was over taking a throw in near the dugout and Craig was out at the edge of his area as they were bringing on a sub. Craig shouts to my mate regarding the sub "I think his pace will give you trouble big man" my mate reply quite sharply to the elderly Craig Brown "I think your pace would give me trouble" And Craig Brown laughs his head off Always seemed like a good guy.
  19. I like to think I actually look alot younger than 42
  20. Yeah Fletcher is one, he would take McTominays position. Brown, not for me. Always got the run around when against decent opposition. McAllister, dont get me started Craig Browns love child, never played anything like he did at club level. Lambert would be in our squad for sure. Even having these types of discussions shows how fortunate we are at the moment tbh.
  21. The John Collins when he was Monaco was a top class operator. Its all about opinions, id say he could swap in for any of them. Easily McGregor. Gilmour could and probably will be better in future, but right now Collins would be a guy he would be learning from. I'd agree Mccoist would maybe struggle in our one striker system.
  22. Yeah its a very good point, we have better players and strength in depth than we've had in a long time. Im 40ish as well and its a far better situation than I can remember. You always try and be positive, but then a look back at some of the teams we put out in finals and there was some stinkers in there. And you think in hindsight "why was I so positive about that" For who would/could swap in and improve. Without thinking about it too hard as the previous poster said, Hendry at centre back would be a shoe in. He was the main centre back for one of the best teams in England at the time. Gough easily would be in there too. Thats probably the easiest position to swap. Goram or Leighton in goals as well no question. Collins would get into the midfield ahead of any of them at the moment. Mccoist or Mo Johnston up front?
  23. Possibly back 4 with Robertson left wing hence no Christie? Hes done it before
  24. Alrighty then I dont believe everyone can believe their being objective. There was a guy on here a while ago who all he would say was "I agree with all Steve Clarkes decisions, because he's a football manager" Thats not objective, or even worthwhile posting
  25. I wasn't talking about you I think your posts are always rational and reasonable. Wether we agree or disagree.
