I don’t even think Syla was dropped for that. Brown spoke about making changes because we had three games in a week. Once McHugh came in and turned in the performance he did it was going to be hard to drop him. For me, I’d play all three of them. -

Aye I don’t think Tomlinson is ready but I think Murphy is more than able to play in a back 5. I kinda see him moving back to a full back role as he gets older anyway. Reads the game really well. I have no idea who else could play on the opposite side though. -

Me either but I think at a push he tries Tomlinson and Murphy as wing backs. -

I think we’ll see a 3/5 at the back tbh. Going by Browns comments I think McGinty will be dropped. -

Chalmers isn’t exactly hard to stop tbh. When he’s given time and space he’s very good but all it takes is someone to stick to him all game and he does very little. -

I don’t think that particular error comes from being asked to play out from the back. We punted it long all day yesterday and we went direct on Tuesday night. McGinty could’ve played it back to the keeper easily enough but I have no idea what he was trying to do with it. He just hesitates, which is what this group of players have done a lot of this season, and Kane nips in and takes it off him. There’s plenty examples of us creating a rod from our own back by trying to play out from the back this season (Albinson against Caley, Mutch against Dunfermline etc) but that was just a case of taking too long. -

Tuesday will have taken a lot out them but there’s also the factor that they’ve been playing at a higher intensity in the last two months that they were in the last two years. You’re spot on though that the majority of the squad isn’t good enough and we’re not going to get a consistent run of form for the rest of this season. -

Paul Smith looks like he has actual technical ability but nothing else. Can’t tackle, can’t press and is too easily shoved about. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t have a decent career at an Annan or Stranraer but I think most fans have accepted he won’t be good enough in this league. -

Not really though. Forrest was a ridiculous talent at 16. I’m convinced we won’t produce a player that good at that age again. It was utterly bizarre that some fans didn’t appreciate him until his last season. McCowan was nowhere to be seen at 19. In fact he was in his early 20s when he was actually used and made a name for himself. Crawford as well was totally lost at that age and didn’t really step up until his early 20s plus he has the caveat of playing at a lower level. Fans are more critical of a clubs young players because they’d rather the club went and spent money on someone rather than actually try and work with their own guys. Forrest and Crawford were hounded for years at Ayr and McKenzie and Bryden are getting the same treatment. -

He’s 19. What are your expectations of him right now? -

Yeah he’s very slight and glued to his line. He made a couple huge saves on Tuesday so swings and roundabouts I guess. He’s only 19 so will hopefully get better with age although I doubt he’ll be with us next season. Albinson was easily the best keeper in the league last season but I have no idea what he’s been doing this season. Fans are split on him but I don’t think he can complain at being dropped. -

On loan from Celtic. Albinson has chucked in at least six or seven goals this season at big moments. -

With ten minutes to go we’re two nil down and changing left backs isn’t going to change things. It’s the kind of substitution Bullen would’ve been slaughtered for. -

Again, I don’t think there’s much point in chucking McGinley on when he isn’t fit. It’s a bad day at the office but we haven’t been relegated. We are still watching a very disjointed and unbalanced team that put a huge amount of effort in during the week to get three points. I still don’t see us finishing in the bottom three. -

I think we’re going to have to start looking at a change in shape rather than trying out different combinations at the back. Brown alluded to a back 3/5 but we don’t have anyone who can play on the left unless we go with Murphy. -

One of those days where the league just tightens up again especially with Arbroath winning last night. At the end of the day I think we’ll be safe but I think it’ll go closer to the wire than most were thinking. -

Why would we play McGinley who won’t be fit ahead of Musonda who had a great game on Tuesday night? The only real suspect decision was keeping Bryden in the team. He did a great job against Thistle but we didn’t need him here. -

The defence is the one thing we have not improved upon at all under Brown. A massive clear out needed in that department and I’m edging closer to not having McGinty as a starter next season. Only positive is we have players on the bench who can come on and give us a lift. Would be introducing Chalmers and Willoughby straight away. -

That’s harsh on Willoughby but McKenzie has been equally important to us recently. -

If you had to slum it with the jobbers Arbroath have assembled, you’d be swinging for them half the time. -

Just on signings, I’m surprised Jermaine Hylton is still without a club. Can play out wide and through the middle so would’ve been a handy option for us to have. Might still be another player to come as Brown used “players” in the plural.
