  1. Aye I said at the time I didn’t think it was very fair to Tomlinson but then I said the same thing when he came on at Ibrox. I think Brown will look quite a lot at a players attitude and if he likes that then he’ll put a lot of faith in you. For all Bullen seemed to trust Bryden, he never gave him as big a task as Brown did tonight but fair play I thought he did a brilliant job of occupying Milne. It is very much a case of square pegs in round holes with the team selections but it is partly out of Browns hands. The important thing is that even with a slightly makeshift team, everyone knows their role and what’s expected of them. Thats a fairly promising sign that you’ve got someone competent in the dugout if the tactics and instructions are clear to a 19 year old striker playing as a right sided midfielder.
  2. Btw what happened in the away end? Folk around me were speculating that someone needed medical attention but from the SRE you couldn’t make anything out.
  3. I don’t think he’s even ready to be doing that and even if he was, who does he start over?
  4. Aye it was the only dodgy call made by Brown but I think it was enforced. Hes not ready to be playing consistently yet and certainly not so far out of position.
  5. That is a massive win for us. There was a real nervousness in that second half from the players and fans and in normal circumstances Partick would’ve grabbed a fourth. We showed a lot of character to make sure we got the winner. We also played with a real edge tonight and didn’t allow ourselves to be bullied.
  6. Tbf they haven't been seen in this neck of the woods for *checks calendar* nearly 6 (SIX) years. Since then Ayr and Morton have had a combined twelve managers (including caretakers and Hopkin x2), a global pandemic took place and Hamilton were relegated twice.
  7. I think given Dowds can’t play, Brown will mix it up a bit. Hopefully Stanger and Reading are back as well. Clarke McAllister Stanger McGinty Reading McHugh Syla Dempsey Chalmers Willoughby Murphy
  8. I don’t know why it would’ve ever stood considering it was offside? His second disallowed goal should’ve stood but not the first one.
  9. Aye they are. Pretty sure his dad organises a Celtic bus from Prestwick to go up to Glasgow.
  10. I called it weeks ago that they would start to drop off. They’re a soft side with no real goal threat. Still think Arbroath will finish bottom and whoever finishes 9th will stay up.
  11. If Zak Rudden had the choice between going to Raith or Ayr, who’s he picking given the clubs current situation? That goes for any of the players Raith have signed last month. You still have to cough up money for loans. I don’t disagree that signings on the whole need to be better but Brown has inherited this squad and was given three weeks to make any signings he could. No one was realistically thinking he was going to make big, meaningful changes in that time. I don’t think for one minute we’re worse off than before the window. We’re pretty much the same. None of this changes the fact that we have lost two games against much better teams. You can argue form all you like but at the end of the day it was always going to be hard to win even one of those games given our current situation. And I think next season we’ll need someone to be starting in that role that can score/assist more. I think he’s fine to be keeping around as a squad player though but as you say we don’t five or six players of that ilk.
  12. Brown is the third manager to come in and play him consistently. I don’t think he’ll be a starter next season but he’s clearly doing something that managers like.
  13. Well it doesn’t get harder than those three teams as they are factually the three top teams in the league. It’s not rocket science. We did narrowly lose both games. We were well worth a point against Dundee United. Both teams are better than we are both in starting eleven and in terms of who they can bring off the bench.
  14. Having seen both of them as our main striker I’d have to do with Dowds. I’ll take a point here. Dowds will be a big miss here but I’d imagine we’ll chuck Willoughby in and hope he can do something from the start. Hopefully Reading and Stanger are fit for this one as well.
  15. I have no idea how anyone can read those comments and come to the conclusion that we’re back to being plucky wee Ayr? Saying that I’ve no idea how anyone can make yesterday’s result about the new goalkeeper either but there you go.
  16. It wasn’t really a makeshift defence was it? One player was playing out of position. Playing Albinson yesterday wouldn’t have changed the result.
  17. I was actually quite impressed with his composure as well. Think on one occasion he played a shite pass to Syla who struggled to control it and then gave it away which resulted in a free kick and booking for Dempsey but all in all he seemed okay.
  18. Huge overreaction. We’re sitting 5th. Ourselves and everyone below us is in a fight for survival however I think that last minute goal against Arbroath by Caley will have knocked the stuffing out them. They’ll finish 10th. We’re probably three wins and a couple of draws away from guaranteed safety. My biggest (and only gripe) with Syla today was his reluctance to drop deeper and take the ball from the centre backs. That has really helped in recent weeks, when building up attacks. There just felt like a real lack of intensity from the whole side though and that’s a first under Brown. Ultimately though, we’ve made progress under him but I think the best we can hope for with this squad is that we beat the likes of Airdrie, QP, Dunfermline etc.
  19. Syla and Dempsey have literally been the two most consistent performers under the new management team. ETA: Reading has had a good season. Big improvement from last season.
  20. Whether Glendinning stays or goes is irrelevant. If he stays then we need to hope Brown makes better use of the data collected and doesn’t focus in on players with good running numbers. I think we’ll see a healthier balance next season. You can afford to take a punt on one or two so long as you get three or four players who have some sort of track record. The issue this summer was we got Murphy and Chalmers with a good record then took a punt on everyone else.
  21. His form has fell off a cliff this season. Some people are attributing it to the goalie coach moving on to Carlisle but I’m not sure. He’s been dropped a few times this season and there’s been chat of a falling out but no one actually knows. Based on the way Josh Clarke played today, Brown clearly wants someone confident with the ball and the young goalie looked good in that respect. Only criticism I’d have of him is he was glued to his line but that’s maybe an age thing.
