  1. I don’t think so. I think it’ll have been kept back for the summer. We haven’t actually upgraded any positions since Brown came in however the midfield does look a lot better just with what they’ve been asked to do. Big question marks over the defence remain and it’s yet to be seen if Willoughby is an upgrade on Rose.
  2. Can’t see that happening. As much as fans don’t rate him, Brown has come in and hasn’t dropped him once so he clearly likes something about him. He’s basically another midfielder out of possession which is something I don’t think Willoughby can do.
  3. I’d be giving Willougby a solid half hour run out against Raith to try and get him up to the sharpness. I really don’t know what to make of him at the minute. It’s not as if he’s missed chances for us, he’s just barely been involved but I don’t think it’s in his game to get loads of touches on the ball unless he’s taking a shot.
  4. He's a decent manager at this level. Would probably put him in a similar bracket to McCall in that respect. He’ll take you close in the Championship and build a decent side but doesn’t have the know how to take that next step.
  5. Aye it’ll be shite from that POV but it should make the league tighter next season. You’d imagine Thistle and Raith will start the season at favourites but you’d also expect Falkirk will get a bounce after promotion and having a decent manager. If Dunfermline made a change on that front then they would probably be up there as well.
  6. We aren’t safe yet but I think Arbroath are all but gone. Whoever finishes 9th I would expect will beat whoever the play in the playoffs. Think it’ll be one of Dunfermline, Caley or Airdrie in that position.
  7. I think we’ll end up like Morton when they appointed Imrie in that we’ve become pretty competent and that will see us safe with a few games to spare but we’ll also be too far off the playoffs to challenge for them. If we can get to that point I’ll be relatively happy provided we get a head start on next season and can give more game time to the younger players.
  8. Best player at the club by some distance for me. Think he went off the boil for a few weeks but at 34(?) I think that’s always going to happen. Reckon he might be used more sparingly next season as we’ll look to add more pace in those areas but he should still have a role to play.
  9. Airdrie are an absolute rabble. How they’ve managed to have a good season (by their standards) is beyond me. They are so soft and refuse to adapt to their opposition but at least McCabe can say they’re trying to play “the right way”.
  10. Yeah our track record of players who wore the actual number probably isn’t great. Preston was before we introduced squad numbers as well. We had Moore for a while, then Bruce Anderson, then Adeloye, Dipo, Rose and now Willoughby.
  11. Surely it’s quite normal for players at clubs to hear around this time that they aren’t being given a new deal? Although if a player has found out from someone who isn’t the manager or DOF then they might feel a bit pissed off.
  12. I think Amartey not playing will be down to an injury but fwiw I doubt Brown would be using him all that much if he was fit.
  13. At this level, Dowds has never really been the main striker. At Arbroath he was paired with Nouble and at Thistle he was generally playing off the bench to let Graham get a rest. I think he does need to play in a two to get the best though. If he and Willoughby show signs of a partnership in the remaining games then that could be something to build on for next season but I can’t see us starting next season with Dowds as our main striker.
  14. It’s unusual for a new manager to lose two of his first three games and still instil an air of positivity and make you feel like everything will be okay but that’s what Brown has done. We’re playing with a far higher intensity than we ever did under Bullen and look stronger as a unit when defending. There’s issues that need to be looked at for next season but I have a lot more faith that we can stay up with the new coaching team.
  15. I think McKenzie is fine in that role, in these games but we could do with someone whose final ball is better and is a bit more of a threat. I think attacks tend to break down with McKenzie going forward but there’s no doubt he’s quite good at sticking on the oppositions deepest midfielder to try and stop their build up play.
  16. Based on tonight I’d have him as our starting right back. You’d think after tonight and we see exactly how much we’ve banked we’ll make a couple of signings. Right back and an attacking midfielder is all I’m asking.
  17. I think if Brown is judging the goalies based off his short time here then Mutch keeps his place for next week. Didn’t have loads to do but did the basics well. His long balls could do with a bit of work.
  18. It’s not a fanboy argument though. Chalmers didn’t get much of a kick today but his substitution was more tactical than performance based.
  19. Aye Hopkin offered stupid money to him and Fjortoft to get them away from Morton. Obviously we managed to offload Markus and McGinty has had a turnaround of sorts but will still be on more than he deserves for the quality of player he is. I don’t think he’ll fit into Browns plans for next season.
  20. Club sandwich How many we expecting in before the end of February?
