  1. Motherwell are not nearly big time enough to be saved by the 10k seater rule.
  2. That would be mad. With all respect to him, and I mean it because he’s done well in difficult circumstances, other than Saturday we’ve still largely been garbage. We’ve just steadied things a bit and stopped the bleeding.
  3. Can I call the new Coke bottles where they try and keep the lid attached woke? It says something about recycling on it and I despise it.
  4. No no, hipster football like Scandinavia. I have a level of awareness of bk hacken, Helsinki and elfsborg which probably qualifies me anyway. Just saying.
  5. Don’t be so trivial. There is clearly a moral scale here - someone who watches the top end of the premier league should be stripped of a vote in general elections, whilst someone who samples English non league football when available as well as being keenly interested in continental football should be fast tracked to high public office.
  6. Probably. Don’t really want offside to be measured in such a way but if it is faster and more reliable than the current clown car version then I guess it’s preferable.
  7. There will come a day when football uses AI to genuinely measure all this stuff, won’t there?
  8. It’s certainly a sign of the times that you see kids wearing the shirts of that Saudi team Ronaldo plays for. Appreciate this makes me an absolute da but I was quite taken aback the first time I saw that.
  9. Fair points but worth noting the consultants remit wasn’t just to appoint a manager. It was a recognition that the entire football strategy that cormack had a vision for in the last few years had been implemented terribly. Jimmy thelin may or may not be a good manager but they need all the component parts to be functioning properly for him to be a success. The head of recruitment has been a revolving door from day 1, Steven Gunn has been a director of football in name only, the strategy in appointing a manager has changed with pretty much every appointment. These are all things that need to be more joined up and that’s essentially what the consultants are helping with, the hiring of a manager being one part of that.
  10. Fabio silva is probably my favourite rangers player
  11. Yeah, I think it’s interesting that the pages and pages of arguing in our Match thread from Saturday is predominantly from people who (I presume) weren’t at the game. I was there and that will certainly not be my memory of it.
  12. Is that true? I thought it was just something said by millhouse in the Simpsons
  13. That made me laugh more than it should have. Shame on you.
  14. I WILL watch this game as I always watch the domestic cup finals regardless. I will despise every single person involved though and feel vastly superior to anyone who thinks it’s any sort of ‘spectacle’.
  15. There’s a special place in hell for the ‘offside is offside’ brigade and they will get their retribution one day.
  16. You won’t have any argument from me there and I’ve probably made hundreds of posts on the forum to that end. Our clubs are shitebags who are happy to take the quick media win from the OF.
  17. It is different, and I’m not suggesting Scottish football receive the same treatment. I’m merely highlighting that it’s within the BBC’s gift to give Scottish football an increased level of coverage either at a uk level or regionally, and it would have an impact if it did. It’s not unreasonable to suggest that the current output is pretty risible from a national broadcaster. The regional output is a reflection of the funding from the overall bbc. As the BBC’s national coverage becomes less relevant anyway, it could reinvent itself at least in part as a champion of regional coverage - but it won’t.
  18. I’ve lived there too and I know they don’t care. But you’re being naive if you think that isn’t at least in part influenced by media coverage. It’s played a key part in women’s football. Increased coverage means increased interest, which leads to increased investment which leads to the quality improving which drives more interest. It’s a self fulfilling cycle.
  19. I don’t disagree with the overall sentiment here but the bbc and plenty of media outlets have shown that if they want people to give more of a f**k about something then they will do it. There’s a chicken and egg situation here with what influences what people are interested in. Id suggest that the level of interest shown in womens football going back 5-10 years wouldn’t have justified the level of coverage it has received in recent times and yet (and I say this as a supporter of this effort) they have made a decision that womens football is criminally under represented beyond a niche interest and it needed addressed. Thats not to say that Scottish football should be front and centre but they clearly feel that its place in the uk psyche is a regional backwater and that suits them. Theres plenty of levers they could pull to increase it, whether it was an incremental increase in coverage at a uk level or more funding to regional outlets. But they absolutely perpetuate the ‘no one gives a f**k about Scottish football’ opinion.
  20. Anderson could cope much better with the physicality. And I may have red tinted specs on but I don’t remember Anderson putting himself in trouble as much as gartenmann does. Not saying that the last ditch defending is a bad thing, but you have to question if you’re doing it that frequently. I’ve definitely seen him a few times charge out towards balls he doesn’t have a hope of getting then having to make a recovery. These are potentially things to be worked on though, I have no idea what interest there is from any side to make it permanent.
