  1. In better news as we try move on from Saturday. We will ramping up the stuff for Kevin Cawley's testimonial on the 24th June. More player announcements, podcast interviews, and a few more things in the pipeline to launch. For tonight, it will be nice to see Buchs back. As well as an Instagram influencer, he is still banging them in for Berwick too!
  2. A low-key signing our end but paid off. Will see what the summer brings.
  3. Yesterday was the most chaotic commentary of the season. Thoroughly enjoyed it though. Plenty of high’s. Can’t forget the no team sheets adding to yesterday’s chaos in commentating!
  4. Who would’ve thought we would have a back line of Buchanan, MacIver, Graham, O’Donnell and Coulson?! One defender and the rest attackers and youth attackers! Can’t fault the players today. Never seen a team deal with so much adversity. I will never complain about an injury ‘crisis’ again as I’ve never seen anything like it today! Proud of the players all things considered. A sad way to end the season. Also, a sad way to end an Alloa career for a few of the players, Stanger in particular. Today definitely not reflective of what has been an excellent season for these young players.
  5. Burst onto the scene and was a real bright spark in the team. So direct, skillful and pacey, which is something we don't have. He did have a dip of form and found himself on the bench for a period but with injuries we are back to him starting and he has taken that opportunity excellently. A stand-out last night against Hamilton. I really like him and he is a real driving force for this team. If he adds consistent numbers to his game next season, you'd have a serious player.
  6. A play-off hero from the past, Sparky, joins Spencey, Jason Marr, and Goody for the Legends team for Kev's testimonial.
  7. Well deserved. Been excellent some coming in, especially the last month. A leader at the back and that tackle at 0-0 late on Saturday epitomised that. Would love to see him still here come August!
  8. Appreciate the support! News you have all probably been expecting and hopefully hoping. We’re getting the band back together. Squad and ticket details to follow soon!
  9. Another plug, this time for Kevin Cawley’s testimonial. A lot of work going on behind the scenes to hopefully give justice to one of our legends. More details will be posted soon but get behind if you can please! Twitter and launch over here:
  10. We did call on the pod we wanted a right back or a natural right sided centre half, same as we did with Strachan / Church. My only unknown is who plays the RWB and who plays RCB out of him and Taggs, will be interesting. Much prefer this signing and option than a Morgyn Neil.
  11. I'd be surprised if he didn't know their centre backs considering he played and managed the captain, as well as a good few others, at Alloa.
  12. If it is the free-kick I am think of in the second half - Paul Smith wanted on the right of the taker, covering the middle and it looked like Hnederson wanted to be on the left and the byline. They were proper at each other, free-kick was cleared and nothing more was said. Was weird but nothing to read into it.
  13. Kieran Offord been recalled by St Mirren. Never really got going with us, very stop start with appearances. A shame as what we did see (mostly against Clyde!), there is clearly a player in there. Opens the door for a loan spot up top but really need a body in there of quality. Would’ve kept Kieran, showed enough.
  14. Would make sense. Falkirk wouldn’t want to give a direct rival a player on loan. Would slot into that Arbroath team pretty well.
  15. No real surprise but the Neil deal has fallen through. https://twitter.com/CoveRangersFC/status/1611071596537470990?s=20&t=C2FzwrP4Mok8XHrJCLepxQ
  16. Yeah, Kieran’s deal is going to run to the end of the season. So no news, is good news. It’s just business as usual as we go into the weekend.
  17. The Cove posters above maybe got in my head a little bit too much when I said Neil goes right in if he signs. Looking at the news up North, we might not be so lucky after all.
  18. Again, George Stanger perfect description. Would love the same back line for a run of games: Taggart, Stanger, Neil, Church. You know we love the Ex-Sons. Can throw Vinnie in to the mix too when fully fit.
  19. And Stanger. Spent his whole afternoon doing that on Saturday. Would be a very solid signing and is quite revealing regarding our current options IMO.
  20. The manager already said to the press last week that a deal is done and more to come.
  21. Like Leodhas said, big Parry came out at full-time saying they’d been shown a video in the dressing room that showed it was over. I was sure it was in and everything since has convinced me the same. We won’t see a better penalty taker than Trouts in the black and gold anytime soon.
  22. Relegation form and Rice sacked? Ooft. Bit of perspective needed. Last night reminiscent of much of the last month or so where Alloa are lacking confidence and creativity. As Leodhas said, I thought any of Alloa's chances came from individual brilliance rather than an overall team plan, most of the time it came through Offord, latterly Buchanan. MacIver played well but most of the time, nobody was on his wave length with his flick-ons. Where the game was lost, which has happened a few times this season, was the midfield and the lack of creativity in there. Like Kev, thought it was very strange to take Miller off, although it did look like he took a slight knock just before the break. The game was crying out for Cammy, as it was too for Cawley in the midfield and you could see his intent when deployed there for five or so minutes. Disagree that he was ineffective at right back. Yes, I agree with the positional thing but one of our best attacking option going forward first half was Cawley on the right hand side. He had so much space. For me, the game was needing us to bring on Vinnie and go to a 5. Allow Church and Cawley to move further forward. As a back four, their five completely nullified Church going forward and like I said, all came down to Offord doing much of it on his own. We are notoriously a second half of the season team, so for me I just wanted to be in the mix at this point. Frustating is the word I'd use for the 6 or so more points we should have at this point of the season. Frustating, not disasterous, and certainly not sackable. Front men need freshened up and hopefully this is the beginning of Offord's run of starts, alongside Ross, and hopefully Scougall and Donnelly in time, who were sorely missed last night. The only two players who give you a bit of creativity in the midfield. Sammo shot of confidence and agree a bit of time out the side needed. Massive game at home to Kelty next week where maximum points are needed. Let's see what next few weeks bring with options coming back to fitness and hopefully new faces ...
  23. Having some of Edinburgh goals filtered through Monday's series of tweets definitely put a dampner on it, but enjoyed it. Good stuff mate, and cracking fives team.
  24. What a second half performance. Absolutely relentless and I love it. After a shaky start, we began to control the game. Scougall a big factor in that. He is just such a class act. On a whole though, the team just played with so much more intent and energy. Even to Rodden coming off the bench and just looking so lively when the game was done. All the goals are fantastic in their own way but great to see some of the names get on the score sheet. Special mention to Daniel Church. We’ve been defending him and bigging him up on the pod all season and he’s growing more and more into that position. I hope the goal for Kieran just before his Scotland break will do him the world of good too. Shame we won’t get the momentum with him but absolutely no qualms with a player playing for his country! One of the best 45’s I’ve seen Alloa play in a long time. That’s a real statement result that. Let’s go back up away to Edinburgh and banish those memories of the home game next week.
