  1. Ross Matthews tearing past the left back is an encouraging sign, given he's not exactly lightning quick. Dan Armstrong's eyes must've lit up seeing that.
  2. Quite good, this. It's like listening to 810MW in about 1996, driving back down the road from a Highland away game.
  3. Good of the commentators to maintain social distancing and communicate with each other - and us - through a pair of megaphones.
  4. Yeah, the silver lining is that it's a straightforward brief for Lokotsch. Hold the ball up for the midfield runners. Get on the end of set pieces. Score goals if the opportunity arises. Losing Manny is a huge blow, but at least we've got a like for like replacement. I've no idea what we would've done if we didn't have Duku last week.
  5. You boys really aren't taking Dundee United's superiority very well, are you?
  6. I think this is a real litmus test for both teams. Judging only by early indications (and that's all they are), Dundee look to be punching below their weight whilst the Rovers are punching over theirs. A draw or a Rovers win and you're looking at those outlooks really being cemented, particularly in a shortened season. If McPake is going to have a successful season, he needs to be winning home games against Raith Rovers. On the other hand, before the season the Rovers are looking at a trip to Dens as more-or-less a free hit. Taking something, coupled with the two previous results, and it's a gold standard start to the season. It's going to be very interesting to see how this game plays out, and to what extent the teams conform to their form versus pre-season expectations. Personally, I think you're looking at goals in this one. Both teams look much more comfortable going forward. Jordon Forster looks like exactly the sort of huddy defender (Hiya Gregor Buchanan, hiya pal!) that this Rovers side is set up to exploit. Equally, though, Davo and Benedictus won't be delighted at the prospect of facing someone like Afolabi. Gonna just play Sow?
  7. So, after his standing down as chairman, Bill Clark was terminated as a director of Raith Rovers Football Club Ltd on 23 August. He's just been re-appointed as a director yesterday. I still don't really have a feeling for what went down earlier in the year, but it would appear bridges weren't burnt.
  8. I'd agree with this. There's not enough evidence to support the assertion that Vaughan is one of the best players in the league. I don't think too many people would seriously suggest that. What I will say, though, is any time Vaughan has been out for a while, I've started to think "Is he really that good? Is it a case of a player getting better in the minds of the support the longer he's out?" and then he's been even better than I expected. That has largely been at a lower level, although as you say his hattrick in the Cup was pretty compelling evidence. He's got 13 goals in 73 Championship games, which isn't particularly impressive, although that does include all of his breakthrough game time. In League One, as a more mature player, he's got 21 goals in 46 games. For a player who isn't even an out-and-out striker, that's pretty good going. I think with most forwards at this stage of the season, you look at them and say "Can he get ten goals this season?". With Vaughan, for me, it's about games. Can he make 25 starts? If he can, I'd be very confident about him scoring or creating (depending on his role) double figures.
  9. Looks like those clowns in Dunfermline did it again. What a bunch of clowns.
  10. Ethan Ross was too quick for him. Buchanan didn't have any intention of harming Ross, he was just too slow going for the ball. He's too slow in almost all aspects. There's no use getting angry about it. You'd be as well getting mad at the rain for falling.
  11. Alloa Athletic 1-4 Dunfermline Athletic Worth watching for: Any trainee astronauts who need to get used to high Gs and whiplash.
  12. Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1-1 Ayr United Worth watching for: Someone (John Robertson?) shouting "Give it to the wide men!" in the build up to the equaliser, in the manner of a spectator from a 70s issue of Roy of the Rovers (6m 20s)
  13. Queen of the South 2-5 Raith Rovers Worth watching for: Queens' playing an utterly obnoxious "goooooooooooooooooooooooooooool" over the tannoy as Dobbie equalises with a penalty (2m 0s) Ayo Obileye curling up in a wee ball after selling the jerseys for the Rovers' fifth (9m 11s)
  14. I'd happily recommend QoS's coverage after today. Definitely worth a tenner. Probably about as good a technical quality as you're going to get from a single-camera set-up, and the commentary was fairly enjoyable. The two boys had clearly done their homework, and were happy to play second-fiddle to the match, which doesn't appear to be something every team shares.
  15. If Stevie Aitken can do it, I don't see why the groundsman shouldn't.
  16. He came on for Benedictus today. It'll depend on how our casualties from today recover. I'd say there's a fair chance you'll see him make an appearance at some stage.
