  1. Can't think why drivers might have wanted to strike on such a weekend?
  2. I entirely agree with you about future league winners and pyramid contenders. It will be well funded, well organised and ambitious teams who progress - Cove are the perfect example. Fraserburgh are just about keeping up with Brora but I'd say they've been a step ahead of Formartine in recent years.
  3. He seems to have had the same reaction I did at the time. Did he grow up to be Stewart Kennedy ...
  4. If the OF were to leave Scottish football I just can't see it being to England. Much more likely it will be to some sort of regional and/or multi division European league however that may come about. I'm sure we'd be left with an interesting and competitive Scottish league but one down side I see could be the demise of traditional European qualification and participation.
  5. I think Dragon's Den has become repetitive and an ego trip for the dragons themselves. There's still some pointless ideas but most of the pitches now are at least reasonably professional. I it enjoyed it more when they allowed the more eccentric and delusional 'entrepreneurs' an opportunity. I'm out!
  6. One of the best managers I ever worked was one who bucked that trend. He wasn't thought of as particularly competent so when he was promoted from a technical to a management role it was a surprise and for a while caused a bit of ill feeling. Turned out to be a great manager and ran his department with the right mix of empathy, humour and authority. He kind of knew his weaknesses and often said that if he could do the job himself he wouldn't need you so you should just get on with it.
  7. I worked close to 10 years for French run company. It never really occurred to me at the time but thinking about your comment they probably did do a lot of management training. From experience though training is not necessarily the same as competence, there were some a@seholes in management positions.
  8. Ben & Jerry's are all about peace, love and cookie dough! I'm partial to ice cream but it isn't going to change the world.
  9. Having spent a very lazy Easter weekend mostly in front of the telly I'm amazed how many daytime adverts there are for mattresses of vacuum cleaners.
  10. John Hartson can read?! I'm more surprised that anyone wanted to buy the Tony Cascarino autobiography.
  11. It is a political decision but forced upon them by farcical circumstances. If there is to be play offs for League 2 then personally I have no issue with Brora being HFL representatives.
  12. Looks like a Guinness World record attempt to see how many people can fit in a 1920s public transport vehicle.
  13. Not too sure but I've still got a set from when I broke my heel in 2017 and they've never asked for them back I'm talking early 90s so policy might well have changed.
  14. Were the crutches theirs to sell? When I broke my ankle and was issued with crutches the hospital hounded me to return them. That was more than a few years ago admittedly but has NHS policy changed?
  15. The fuckers have got the underfloor heating too high I'm no fan of dance but surely tap is the lowest form of that particular art.
  16. To be fair, that's really only GR who seriously refers to himself in such a manner. When anyone else uses it about him it's usually in a tongue in cheek 'aye, right' manner.
  17. Quite a claim give the level of competition in that particular field.
  18. I think the league can be forgotten about this season, I sense little enthusiasm for it. Same goes for junior, amateur and youth. Cup competitions in April/May could be an interesting option.
  19. I'd have guessed more that 28,000. Was the Merkland Road end seated at that time? The crowd there look very aligned.
  20. How did I miss this? How can you do tattoos on your own back. If you could manage to tattoo your own back that's what it might end up like.
  21. I was surprised I'd never heard of this guy given his apparent notoriety but probably the story was higher profile in Thailand/France. Apparently he's still in jail in Nepal. I felt that it went around in circles at some times and could have been cut from 8 to maybe 6 episodes but still a good watch. Interesting to note how easy is was to fake a passport in the 1970s.
