  1. Just signed for us.. hopefully he’s only absolutely fucking shite for you lads!
  2. Hopefully the club appeal that red card decision, it’s even worse seeing it on the highlights! Referee’s had a shocker, also don’t see much wrong with docherty’s goal, he’s outmuscled their defender who goes down ridiculously easily.
  3. Bit disappointed with Hanratty returning, he looked lively & showed potential in games. Didn’t get given enough chances in my opinion, he was limited minutes coming on from the bench. Ferguson probably a level too far for him, potential is there but just not good enough yet for league two. Can see him being released by Hearts at the end of the season. Dailly as well a bit disappointed he’s returned to St Johnstone, thought he’d been decent when he’d played & he’s the better of the options we have to cover Darren Whyte’s absence. Moreland the less said about him the better.
  4. Spencer Moreland & Bobby Dailly return to St Johnstone following loan deal expired. Jaden Ferguson also returns to parent club Hearts, loan expired.
  5. Absolutely atrocious refereeing today, ruined the game big time. first half we looked very comfortable should have been in the lead if I’m honest. Need to start taking our big chances or it’ll finish like it did today. defended well when down to 10 men; not sure what McCallum was doing wiping out Hester that was a stonewall penalty, good laugh Dingwall missing his retake, has anyone found the ball yet? Since McKinnon came in we have looked miles better, actually have a structure & you can see the type of style he is trying to instil in the team. Slater & Flanagan were massively missed today. Although Hutton had one of his better games for us today.
  6. Kevin Hanratty has returned to Aberdeen following his loan deal with Forfar.
  7. Decent result In the end. need to really start taking our chances though, clinical finishing when on top will benefit us in the long run. everyone played well today, thought Flanagan & Thomson the stand outs though, what a difference when we play with actual wingers that like to take on their man.
  8. Much better first half there, just need to start taking these chances or I fear this could be a Bonnyrigg again…. Losing a last minute goal.
  9. Flanagan - barely played for us he’d offer a bigger threat going forward. Nditi - better than what we have playing at rb at the moment Mcluskey - missing on Saturday there. Thomson - been in & out the squad due to injuries.
  10. Club Statement The board of Forfar Athletic Football and indeed our entire management team are acutely aware of the seriousness of our league position. In recent weeks the Chairman and Vice Chairman have been meeting regularly with the manager to offer both additional financial support and to discuss the situation we find ourselves in. Whilst not offering this as an excuse, we have to be honest and say we have been hit with the most severe injury list, one which any club would find difficult to manage. We find ourselves continually plagued with horrendous luck on this front and we are struggling to get the squad that we hoped we would have available to us. During the recently closed loan window at the end of September we found as did many other clubs, it extremely difficult to get the deals over the line in some cases despite the fact that we had been working for weeks to conclude. We accept that this is just part and parcel of football. Gary is very much aware of what we require as a football club and rest assured no one is working harder than him and his back room staff to turn our fortunes around and he accepts that this can’t go on indefinitely. He does still have the full backing of the board and his playing squad. While we accept that this statement will not be universally popular with all our fans, we ask that you respect what we are trying to do and that is to help a young manager through a very difficult time in his career. Before closing the Directors do note the criticism levelled they feel unfairly on social media by certain factions that they are only interested in procuring sponsorship and hospitality bookings and promoting events such as Sportsman’s Dinners and Golf Days. Nothing could be further from the truth. The football side of the club, the supporters and share holders are and always will be at the forefront of all our efforts. However without the many fund raising ventures that the Directors and a hardy band of volunteers put so much of their own time and effort into, the club simply could not survive these days on the financial front. We would like to thank you for your continued support both on match days and at fund raising events, all of which rest assured is much appreciated. Let’s all stick together moving forward in our one main aim at present to see the ‘Loons’ begin a climb up the league two table.
  11. It’s sackable form regardless what level you’re at, we genuinely look like a pub team at times with Irvine in charge.
  12. At least we seen the Mark Docherty we’re used to…. Absolutely hopeless.
  13. No sure you can say east fife were excellent, we just absolutely chronic. we offered nothing & basically gave you the goals on a plate. gave the ball away for the first, & scored an own goal.
  14. Well at least there’s comments…. Forfar Athletic 1 East Fife 3 Saturday 8 October 2022 SPFL cinch League 2 Station Park, Forfar “Not good enough.” That was the (repeated) verdict of manager Gary Irvine at the conclusion of a disappointing 1-3 defeat to East Fife at Station Park. Two goals down at half-time, the Loons went further the behind early in the second-half before a late flurry spurred by a well-taken Kevin Harratty counter with 17-minutes to play put a slightly better complexion on the score-line. Which is not to say that did much to brighten Irvine’s post-match mood. “The first thing I need to say is that performances like that are just not good enough,” said the Forfar boss. “We all owe the supporters an apology. We will never win games of football conceding goals like the ones we did today. We gave the ball away for the first goal. Not good enough. Okay, we had a man off the pitch for the second one but they just ran past us with simple passes and made it look too easy. Again, not good enough. “Then the third just summed up the day. I don’t need to tell Mark Docherty (who scored an own goal) he doesn’t need the keeper to kick the ball forward. He could just have cleared his lines. All in all though, we need to defend better as a team, not take chances in our own box and clear our lines.” Irvine’s somewhat harsh verdict is difficult to contest. For the Loons this was a day to forget, one filled with, as Irvine went on to point out, “basic errors.” “This was a real sore one,” confirmed the manager. “But I take the blame. I’m the one who puts the players out on the pitch. I’ve told them we can’t go from a game like last week that was basically positive - we came off the pitch thinking we could have won against Dumbarton - then play like this. Just a week ago we were feeling good enough ourselves and looking like we had something to build on. But it can’t go down like this, performance-wise. It’s been that way too often this season.” Indeed, as Irvine went on to bemoan, the same sort of thing happened in the wake of an excellent away win against Albion Rovers last month. The victory was followed by a poor perforce and defeat. So consistency has been an on-going issue. Which has, inevitably, led to a collective drop in confidence. “I have to ask that question,” continued Irvine. “I can’t protect the players. Which is sore for me to say. It is me who picks the team and puts them together. I have faith in their ability, but right now we are not getting even the basics of football correct. When you do that and a team gets on top of you, the confidence issue kicks in. But it all comes back to the basics. You just have to get them right to give yourself a chance to win games. We’re not doing that at the moment. Which is are to take. “Today was the first game of the league’s second quarter. So it was our first chance to play a side for a second time. We fell victim to an 89-minute penalty against East Fife last time we met. So this was a chance to correct that. To lose in this fashion is sore to take. I hear the frustrations of the fans and I’m with them after watching some of the stuff I saw out there today.” Things aren’t likely to get much easier with, at least in the short term. Forfar’s next three games are all away from home: to Elgin in the league, Kilwinning Rangers in the Scottish Cup, then a long league trip to Stranraer. “We have to stick together,” concluded Irvine. “We have to work hard. It’s getting back to a winning feeling. The next three weeks away from home will be tough. We know that as a squad.” “ we came off the pitch thinking we could of won against Dumbarton “ has just absolutely tipped me over the edge.
  15. Next statement will say something like we came out fighting in the second half & finished the second half 1-1 so that’s an improvement.. the board can’t seriously be watching this and thinking he’s doing a good job. we’ve been absolutely dire since about Christmas.
  16. That today was a total and utter shambles. no fight, no desire, no game plan, no anything. Irvine standing there like a spare p***k on the sidelines, like for like subs. 3-1 down ‘ right lads let’s get everyone back to defend their corners ‘ embarrassing.
  17. Better this weekend but still absolutely honking. offered absolutely nothing going forward & rode our luck a bit at the end with McCallum making a couple of big saves. Game was absolutely there for the taking, yet Irvine seems happy & content to play the game out, could of easily made a substitute or two and actually have a go rather than his usual boring nonsense.
  18. How many more ‘ free hits’ is he going to get though? Every time we lose to a team above us, will that be a classed as a free hit then?
