  1. Absolutely, that is true. And if that was the point being made, I'd agree with it. It wasn't though.
  2. I'm not trying to say Celtic are some world class side. The OP said they get humiliated every time they play decent opposition. Clearly that is utter shite. Anyone who's given the League One forum a cursory glance this season will know that a certain section of Falkirk fans are in some kind of deep state of melancholy about their club and part of their way of dealing with that is to have this viewpoint that everything is pish. It is absolutely no coincidence that of all the clubs in League One, it's Falkirk who have their worst side in over a generation. As someone said, this is the kind of stuff you hear from fans of clubs who're down in the dumps (relatively speaking). Montrose fans, who're watching their best side in a generation, funnily enough, have a much brighter outlook on things. If any Falkirk fan is feeling like this and wondering whether it's just cos Falkirk are pisher than they have been since flares were in fashion, be under no illusion... it is.
  3. Celtic beat Lazio, who're 1 point off the top of Serie A, home and away this season.
  4. First off, I don't give a shit if McGlynn's doing whatever sort of work he can and wants to do. I'm sure plenty of people on furlough are doing some bits and pieces. it's not exactly difficult to see what the problem is, in principle, with people on furlough carrying on working though. Companies are taking government money on the understanding that their employees cannot work. If companies are taking the money and still having employees work, it's essentially fraud. I'm sure all McGlynn is doing is, as you say, watching games and thinking about his squad for next season. It's maybe a bit on the line but no sensible person's going to give a f**k about that and HMRC certainly aren't.
  5. I'm not naive enough to think it's not how people will think but is it not exactly this type of thinking that has created a lot of the problems we're trying to fix? The OF want 4 fixtures per season and a skewed prize fund distribution because it's best for them. Screw the rest and screw a competitive league. The rest of the Premier clubs toe the line in the hope that the scraps they get give them enough of an edge over slightly smaller clubs who already find it tough to get into the top league due to the structure of the play-offs etc. And just keep that going down and down. League One and Two clubs don't want to open up automatic relegation form L2, the LL don't want to open up too much movement between them and the pyramid below them. Really what clubs should be doing is looking to design a league structure as if they didn't know which part of it they'll end up in. Because you might know where you'll be next season but you've no idea where you'll be in 5, 10 years.
  6. Thinking more than one season ahead? What is this witchcraft?
  7. Reply - "Replying to your messages asking what I'm doing. What are you doing?" Catch the dumb c**t in an infinite loop.
  8. Not if the principle was against unfair relegation, and their promotion gets round that.
  9. Well, yes. If we were to get some kind of 'promotion' based on restructuring then we wouldn't really deserve it but we'd take it and most likely come up with every reason we could think of to justify it.
  10. Oh ya fucker First, any talk of litigation from clubs like East Fife is utter nonsense. I never felt this resolution was the right way to do things but it really doesn't affect us either way. I'm sure Hearts and Partick will be looking down that avenue. Secondly, if there's any ire to be aimed, it should be aimed squarely at Doncaster and the SPFL. They really are a shambolic bunch of morons whatever way you look at it. It's certainly going to be a fun few weeks watching all the blow out from this.
  11. in these dark times, it's good to find a bit of comedy in the world.
  12. Ha. Don't think I haven't cursed the SPFL for putting me on the same side of the argument as Rangers fans. it's the most unforgivable aspect to all of this.
  13. Because at some point, people have to consider the practicalities of what will get through and what won't. In theory, my preference is to wait and see when we can have a better idea of when 2020/21 might start and hold off to see if we can play out the remainder of 2019/20 but I accept that practically, that poses too many problems and clubs won't vote for it. My issue with the current proposal is this kind of argument that we should just pretend the league actually did end and Celtic, Dundee Utd, Raith and Cove won their leagues and Hearts, Partick and Stranraer should go down. That absolutely doesn't sit right with me and plenty others. So what are the alternatives? We call the end of the season with no titles / promotions / relegations. I would accept that (obviously you would goes the cry because mid-table, keep the derby with Raith, blah, blah). For me, it's an option that's worth sounding clubs out on but my feeling is there's enough opposition for it not to pass. It may still be a last resort if all else fails. So then you're left trying to think about what you'd support that is realistic and would pass. 2 up / 0 down and no titles seems to me to have a good chance if you can convince the likes of St Mirren, Hamilton, Ross County who might think they have a decent chance of finishing 12-14th in a 14 team Premier. I don't think ICT, Raith, Falkirk, Edinburgh really intrinsically 'deserve' to be promoted but this solution is a practical fix that stops the relegation of teams that would gain the support of a lot fo the clubs that voted against the last proposal. People can change their positions on things because they're adults who realise compromise is often the only way of getting things done.
  14. Read that tweet from Raith and all the replies from arse cheek morons treating as some little proxy battleground between them. Absolute dregs.
  15. This is just reconstruction nerd shite, I know the Premier clubs would never go for 16. But to be honest, they're unlikely to go for anything viable so it's all pretty moot. It seems impossible to come up with a structure that the fans would be happy with and hoards enough money between the top few clubs. I'd go H & A and then have a split where you play each team once. Make it so that you're guaranteed to play the team immediately below you at home after the spit (one position below you H, 2 positions below you A, H, A, etc) as a little boost for the team that's top at the point of the split.
  16. Why wouldn't it work as a one-off special circumstances work around?
  17. Yep. It will be. But realistically, they'll be the only ones to throw the toys out the pram over this. Promotion / no relegation / no championship gets you Rangers, Hearts, ICT, Partick, Falkirk, Stranraer and Edinburgh at a stroke. Dundee and East Fife might vote for it but it wouldn't matter either way. Celtic can howl at the moon all they like.
  18. Aye, good shout, I just remembered that. Still, promotion is far more valuable. If Raith are promoted they get all the benefits bar the excitement of a promotion winning game. Given the choice between championship and no promotion or promotion and no championship, it's a total no brainer.
  19. It's not sour grapes. I'd be genuinely surprised if this was a line in the sand for Raith. Would they vote no to 2 up / 0 down with no champions declared? I seriously doubt it. All the stuff you're talking about is basically 'it's generally nice to win a championship'. The season could have been played out normally and Raith might have finished 2nd, so all these guys would still miss out on medals. Nobody would see that as unfair. It would be totally different if the championship was already mathematically secured. it would be a travesty not to award it in that case. But you all know that is far from being the case.
  20. Aye. That's fair enough. I suspect it's a bluff from Raith. They'd take promotion, 1st place prize money and no title.
  21. Why are Raith bothered about being champions? I get the promotion thing. I'm in favour of 2 up / 0 down as well but what's the point in naming champions. It gives no practical or monetary advantage. You'll never get a championship winning game or get to watch the team lift the trophy and nobody will consider it a real championship. I'd be practical, accept the promotion if it's on the table and don't make being named champions as a red line.
  22. Absolutely no chance of play-offs unless the SPFL somehow decide to play out the remaining games of 19/20.
  23. i'm all for discussing reconstruction at some point down the line. But to throw yet another major issue into the current mix is madness before we've sorted out the money issue and the promotion / relegation / titles issue.
  24. I'll give it a miss, thanks. Seriously, though. Broadcasting full games live is a great idea. Really enjoyed the ones East Fife have put up. Also, putting petty rivalry aside for a second, I've got to say the derbies have generally been cracking games over the past season or two. The two games at Bayview this season in particular.
