  1. Got my tickets for the Night of Champions at the Whitehall Theatre. Should be a good night. Offered to take my dad along (he's in his 80s). Said he'd rather just remember the players as they were that season and in particular that day at Muirton. Oh, and he loves the fact Dundee were the first side in the city to win the top league!
  2. Ideally an Adidas kit with the old Admiral design of the two curved stripes down the front of the top and shorts. Last seen around the late 70s / early 80s when Eric Sinclair was the main man! Got me thinking about how it was the fashion back then to wear as many badges on your scarf (yes it was the norm to wear a club scarf no matter what the weather!) as was humanly possible. The badges would have slogans on them like "Jesus saves but Sinclair nets the rebound".
  3. Can't see us winning either of the first two games. That leaves trying to win three in a row with the pressure mounting as we move towards the split. Sorry, can't see it happening.
  4. What's the point of the constant scrums? Anything that looks like a hoopy huddle on a pitch is unacceptable in my opinion.
  5. They obviously only do their demonstrations when they ar playing the big teams. Last game I remember them properly demonstrating was the Doon Derby. Once again, can I thank the United fans that held up the banners that night. Added a little extra fun to the night!
  6. At least it only took St Mirren a few games to realise that Lloy is absolutely hopeless. Very harsh but very fair!
  7. Seeing all these new stadiums just highlights the real beauty and character that Dens and especially the Derry has.
  8. Don't worry. Lochee is only a short walk to where the new stadium would be. Plenty of welcoming pubs to choose from.
  9. No doubt about it Hartley has made a great signing in Haber. Horrible to think that he might have ended up playing at Tannadice. Thank goodness McKinnon doesn't know a good player when he sees one. Ojamma doing no too bad either!
  10. If you'd asked me 3/4 weeks ago I would have said a definite no to Holt's contract being extended. Now I reckon he could prove to be a very important player for us. Like RawB93 says Holt's confidence is on the up. If Hartley does decide to play Hately again there is no way Holt should be taken off set pieces for Hately.
  11. 100% agree. Same again against Motherwell please. I can't help wondering though how El Bak would have got on against the Rangers defence.
  12. A right good up and at them performance against Rangers on Sunday should stop all this in fighting. Alternatively seeing as the game is against Rangers we can give them too much respect, go 5 at the back, play for a draw with a big punt up the park whenever we get the ball.
  13. If Gadz doesn't get offered a competitive new contract and Julen stays that will be a disgrace and a real indication of the mess the board / Hartley have made with contracts. What about Loy? Is his loan not only until the end of the season? Is he not another one that was given a 3 year contract and still has a year to go?
  14. Thanks Den. Hope Vincent gets on against Rangers from the start.
  15. Just read on Dundee's website that Ross, Vincent, Williams and Klok all played in the U20's Development League 2-0 win against Dunfermline. The report goes on to say "Ross and Vincent have done their chances of featuring against Rangers no harm" and "Klok will benefit from 90 minutes under his belt". No mention of Williams. Fair to assume he didn't even impress in an U20's match or did the reporter just forget to mention him in the summing up? Anyone at the game or heard from someone at the game?
  16. I'm afraid I'm still not convinced about Holt so could O'Hara not play left WB?
  17. ..........but the merged club would have zero trophies to it's name. Could you imagine the embarrassment of supporting a club that had won less major trophies than St Johnstone? Seeing as I support Dundee that's a situation that I'll never be in. It doesn't bear thinking about.
  18. I believe it was tactical. I'm assuming it was because he's not exactly handled Hayes in the past.
  19. Fear not, Hartley will rally the 11 men that matter
  20. Tam. You've surely got enough to worry about St Johnstone's poor home support without concerning yourself with Dundee's away support
  21. I don't think Holt was worth a transfer fee. Not nearly fast enough to deal with quick wingers. Given that Wighton and Kerr came through the youth set up that doesn't leave very many successes from the numerous signings Hartley has made. There are players at the club that owe Hartley big time. Time some of them stepped up to the mark!
  22. 100% agree Biggie. To sign Williams on a 3 year contract is an utter disgrace, especially when money is tight. In the small periods when we did have possession last night I thought we were way too slow in any meaningful quick passing. All too often the player in possession would turn back on himself, pass the ball backwards only for the receiving player to hoof it up the park - by which time Aberdeen's midfield and defence were back in their correct positions after moving forward. I'm no football purist so if the big punt up the park means goals and points then that's fine by me but get it done quickly and make sure that Wighton actually knows where Haber is trying to place the headers he wins! To me Wighton wasn't playing close enough to Haber. At the Q&A session with Hartley at the start of the season someone raised the issue of slow meaningless passing. Hartley lambasted the man for suggesting this. If Hartley can't see that their is a real lack of creative passing / movement off the ball / playing at pace then we definitely have major problems.
  23. It's got to be said we really don't do cup runs do we. We had a very poor start to the season - demonstrated in the cup against lower league opposition. Now we have had a very poor start after the mid seasons break. Is it just a coincidence or is management doing something wrong in training / friendlies / trips away during breaks?
  24. Happy that Loy is out on loan. He really isn't good enough for the Premiership. Pity Low's continued injuries prevent him being loaned out.
