I suspect a lot of expectations have been checked this evening.
Tonight was right up there with the worst performances I've seen from forfar. For those of my vintage, I'm thinking the 6-0 vs Stirling in 1995.
Leaderless, rudderless, listless, lacking commitment, second best in every challenge, beaten to every loose ball.
There was certainly room for improvement.

Are we playing well or are Forfar just having a really, really bad day?
It if both, think Dunfermline are well ahead of us fitness wise as well.

Only took 15 minutes to have a shot this half, improving.
McCallum certainly isn’t again beaten at near post.

Harkins now on FML.

Unable to make the game tonight, any info on the trialist’s?
Only that you would hope we don’t make any efforts to sign them.

Sounds like an absolute hammering
Looks like it too. We are miles off Dunfermline, Slater looks like the only Forfar player to have seen a football before.

Not the greatest example really, considering the boys running Darvel are pissing funds up the wall that other clubs don't have, and Forfar probably wanted to keep him.
Yeah, but he was on a two year contract and we agreed to sell him for a fee. Similar a few years ago when Swankie refused to play for us , sold to Arbroath for a fee also.

It happens all the time. 2 year deals (or longer) don't work out and all parties reach an agreement to cancel the contract and let the player and club move on. Who was the last club to pay money at this level for a contracted player?
Darvel paid Forfar a five figure sum just this week?

Our passing and decision making tonight was genuinely worse than you’d see in a Scottish League Two game. Best team won, a disgraceful ‘performance’ by our team.

Kinda torn on Meechan, he is super consistent but as the Annan game showed there is better out there. He is under contract though so would think Clyde would have to pay something for him.
See Airdrie have released Jordan Allan, worth putting an offer in again as that is the type of striker we could be doing with.

Bonnyrigg would need to have an average crowd 40% higher than ours to be bringing in the same amount at the gate.
I'm not in favour of our prices either, but if we're paying that much, we should have a better playing budget than others.
A few decent signings would encourage ticket sales & a winning team puts bums on seats.
No info to back this up but I would imagine Forfar’s budget won’t be that far from yours, my season ticket is £190.

Well done Edinburgh City, especially delighted for Michael Travis, deserves good times for some of the injuries he has had to deal with. Enjoy League One will be a hard one.

See Brindley has been released by Kilmarnock.

Very good news , glad to see both stay especially Darren, nice to see loyalty from players who we clearly stuck by too.

Some good news on a poor day.

Safe to stay that recruitment may not be one of Irvines strong points. Unless you need too many midfielders.
The joke there is that Hutton was his January signing then he ends the season benched in favour of Jobber Harkins. Also paid the price today for our utter lack of striking options.

Got what we deserved, what a mess Irvine has made of things. His mate getting 90 minutes and the likes of Thomson not even getting on the pitch is a total wind up. What an infuraiting manager he is.
Yeah, Harkins in particular but others were obviously knackered with 10-15 minutes to play yet no subs despite the options on the bench to freshen things.
When dust settles I suspect it will be a good thing this lot are not in League One next season.

Good luck in the final Annan, we deserve nothing for persisting with Harkins an utter joke that we didn’t use any subs until we went behind.

Yeah, I don't think it was actually playing Harkins that was necessarily the issue, it was playing a 2 man midfield that was the problem as it left him exposed
Yeah playing Harkins seems to limit Slater as he has to do more defensive work which is daft.

Forfar deserve to stay down for accommodating Harkins.
Genuinely Irvine should be punted if they don't go up as he shoehorns his old pal in the team who should be nowhere near playing league football.
While I wholeheartedly agree with both statements, Harkins did play ( and be OK) in our recent 5-1 defeat of Annan so he may point to that as a reason to play him last night.
Not a great result last night but we are still in the tie, big improvement needed on Saturday. Did think that being home in midweek was a likely advantage given the distances.

At the end of the season the League table never lies and all 4 teams are there on merit ( strange way to describe Dumbarton's predicament mind you).
The 3 League 2 teams have all been faltering and inconsistent the last 6 weeks or so whereas Dumbarton have had some decent form.
If Annan are up for it tonight I think they can take a good lead up to Station Park on Saturday and go all the way.
Have a feeling Dumbarton will be too strong for all three of the League Two sides, as you say all three have been way too inconsistent. Would imagine all are just battling to be favourites for the drop next season too.
For tonight if we can get a draw would be pretty happy as think we can see off most teams at home.

1 point between us over 36 games suggests the teams are pretty closely matched. A head to head of 10 points versus 1 and 11-3 in goals suggests otherwise. Have to admit I wanted us at home in midweek and worry the midweek trip may work against us but if we come back with a decent result would fancy us at home.

I think Slater was 2nd for all the awards except for the one he won.
Sums up how thick some of our fans are.

You are right of course, but having seen plenty of friendlies before have rarely seen such a gulf between us and another non Premier League team. Perhaps this might have been better behind closed doors.
