  1. What do they do when it's used as a neutral venue like when it hosted the Champions League final where Inter beat Bayern? Is there another large dressing room or does the designated away team have to change in the wee one?
  2. They seem to be making a big deal about it being the 50th anniversary of the cup win so I'm guessing we're getting a candy strips effort? There was always chat about an 1885 style away top (maroon and blue hoops?) which would certainly qualify as different.
  3. This was specifically in relation to the incident highlighted previously where apparently the ref said he'd have given a penalty had the player not stayed on his feet. Even so, the cameras don't always have perfect views either - how many times do you watch MotD and see incidents from several angles where they seem to contraindict each other - and I'd rather have consistency in the application of the laws (see also: shirt pulling, grappling in the box at corners et al) before video refs.
  4. The problem there is that the referee should give the penalty but often times don't. If referees start applying the laws properly then going down in that case wouldn't be an issue at all.
  5. Apricot is the nuts. Get the lamb choiila (sp?) starter and any main you fancy - you won't regret it.
  6. Especially when it was a boderline decision. Good try by Watson though.
  7. It's like watching Scotland about 10 years ago except at least then Chris Paterson would slot over penalties. I'm not sure how Cockerhill will change things there tbh.
  8. Only ones I'm fairly sure about are: Die Hard The Great Escape Airplane! Con-Air (the only video we had in our halls at uni) Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered County The Shawshank Redemption Spy Game (was always on when I had Sky Movies and I always ended up watching it)The Usual Suspects Ocean's Eleven Firefox Where Eagles Dare Dirty Harry Force 10 From Navarone A Bridge Too Far
  9. Wasn't A League of Their Own a Sky rip-off of They Think it's All Over... which was billed as the "comedy" version of Question of Sport? I only remember David Gower being actually quite good, and both Dunfermline and East Fife (well, their fans) being on the next lines round.
  10. Decent game between Inter and Samp, with the away team coming from a goal behind to win at the San Siro for the first time in yonks. What's happened to Inter? Last time I watched any amount of Serie A they had recovered well from the de Boer shambles and were looking set for Europe again. They looked very ordinary again tonight and when Icardi isn't on it they're very average. Samp hit the post twice and played some nice stuff. Quagliarella scored the winner from the spot after a bizarre handball - how old is he now? Seems to have been around forever.
  11. Even if the Taliban had tanks, there can't have been many made out of cardboard. Being driven by a 7 foot tall bear. Wearing a football shirt.
  12. It always amazed me that Klos and Weidenfeller (I think that was his name - Dortmund keeper I think at the time) were behind Kahn and especially Lehmann in the German national team. They both seemed more reliable and less prone to mistakes although I get that Kahn had a big personality and was also capable of making great saves.
  13. Is it an illegal steam though? Surely as a broadcast partner they'll have a feed going to their production department to out together the highlight packages? They used to say things like that all the time - someone at the game would comment on an incident and someone in the studio (usually Richard Gordon) would say something like "we've just seen a replay and it looks like a red card" or whatever.
  14. Seems bizarre that the guy seen as the best ref around (irrespective of whether you think he hogs the limelight or not, he's a great ref) is stuck out on the touch line for what is an almost meaningless fixture. At least we know the touch judge will get involved at scrums near the side line through (which they always should do but it never seems to happen). Who's doing the Ireland v England game?
  15. All this means is that Celtic will offer him a contract which will mean a development fee - we won't pay it but somebody (Hibs? Motherwell?) will. It also could see him miss the game v Morton around then which isn't ideal.
  16. I read SS-GB not long after Fatherland by Robert Harris (was clearly keen on the Alternative History stuff at the time) and felt a bit disappointed with the former compared to the latter. Thought I'd give this adaptation a go and feel the same sense of disappointment - lots of telling us what happened rather than showing us what happened and find some of the acting a bit wooden. Not as wooden as Rutger Huer in the awful TV movie of Fatherland mind you. Is this still on? I remember it being really good when it was on first time round. I'll have to look in the iPlayer app when I get home.
  17. Ochilview is one of my favourite grounds to visit. One of the highlights of our time in League One along with Brechin. Nothing at all to do with the excellent tea shacks at both venues and their nice pies and soups. Nosiree.
  18. Since when has Japan been in the Southern Hempisphere? Ireland would be quite good although do the GAA grounds have the kind of hospitality facilties the sponsors and IRB Suits would want? At least all three possibilities are in a good time zone for us watching.
  19. Looking forward to it. Looking out my United shirt and scarf to watch the game.
  20. I've never understood the argument about "4th place could finish 20 points behind 2nd" or whatever - what if 2nd place finish 20 points behind 1st, do they deserve to go up automatically? What if it's goal difference that splits the teams - is that somehow better? I suppose maybe you could have an argument for the 4th team only getting a playoff spot if they are within a set number of points (or even a percentage of the 3rd teams points total rounded up) but that would add an extra complication and uncertainty for very little reward. All teams know that a top 4 place gets you in the playoff so it's fair enough IMO. And I say that as a fan of a team with an appalling record in playoffs (three attempts, three failures to go up/stay up).
  21. So it was. Why did I type Morton? I knew that wasn't right either. That was the first of two games at East End this season with three penalties awarded. Of those six, four were missed (all by us) and two were scored (both by Dumbarton).
  22. Doesn't look like you got a definitive answer so here goes my attempt at remembering: Miss v Morton (Moffat), Miss x 3 v Dundee Utd (Reilly, Clark, McMullan), Miss x 2 v Ayr (both Higginbotham), Miss x 3 v Hamilton (shoot-out; McCabe, Paton, Reilly) makes 9 misses. Scored v Hibs (Higginbotham), Scored v Buckie Thistle (Paton), Scored v Falkirk (McCabe) makes 3 scored. We also missed our fair share last season, including Moffat missing v Forfar (for his hat-trick) and it being retaken for infringement then being missed again by the same player, and Cardle missing v Forfar (for his hat-trick) but then scoring later on from open play.
  23. Doesn't the Premiership team have a full week to prepare while the winner of the Championship play-off semi final has played (usually) a high intensity game in the midweek (and if it's the team who finished 3rd/4th they'll have had to play weekend-midweek-weekend-midweek)? Doesn't the Premiership team always get the second leg at their home ground?
  24. Basic errors, poor decision making, loose set piece. They were there for the taking too. England will hammer us but we have a chance of winning the other two home games I reckon. Depending on injuries, of course.
