  1. What? Morata scored. Joselu equalised. Joselu scored again. Diaz equalised for Real. Ramos scored the winner.
  2. Forbes looked like the sort of player we were all hoping for in that East Fife game. Using the wind to swing in some vicious corners, pinging balls over over the park and was man of the match despite missing a penalty. He was then pretty bobbins before seemingly finding his form again at Morton. For whom he'll probably run the game tomorrow.
  3. Didn't Willie Miller once say something along the lines of "Why should I research the opposition? When have I got time to do that?" when doing summary duties on an Aberdeen European game? Jim Spence on the other hand is usually very good. It was a sad day when the BBC bowed to Sevconian pressure to get rid of him for regular appearances.
  4. Hope so, Hopkins was the best thing about this series (although to be fair Newton and Wright were excellent too). I wasn't that enamoured with the ending - it seemed a bit of a cheat with the big reveal (that many had guessed previously but which I didn't want to be right - it's some amount of time to have passed and leaves a lot of questions about the brother) and the park security guards were so inept that the big fight sequence was just a bit silly. Hopefully we see more of Maeve, Clementine, Bernard and Ford in series 2 although the wee bit after the credits suggest the tattooed lady is going to be a major character next time out. An excellent series overall though, one of the best things on the box since The Wire ended.
  5. Was wondering why there were even bigger gaps than normal in the Olimpico. The only talking point so far was the awarding then non-awarding of the penalty in the first half. Italy persists with the additional officials behind the goal (even though I think they have goal line technology now?) and between the ref, the linesman and the extra official they still contrived to give not one but two wrong decisions!
  6. Said this several times but surely it's only called Sports Personality of the Year since it wouldn't be able to get called Sportsman or the Year or Sportsman or Woman of the Year since that just sounds wrong? Personality has nowt to do with it or years with great sporting success wouldn't be any harder to win than lean years where there were slim pickings. Plus Niger Mansell, Steve Davis and Damon Hill are all previous winners aren't they? Personality has never been included as a criteria for determining the winner.
  7. While it's true that there would have been little change in previous results with the new system, the problem with that is that the individual match results might not have been the same had the new system been in place. For instance, if Scotland scored three tries v Italy on a win under the old system, they might have kicked a penalty to extend their lead or solidify their position. If the new format was in place, we might have went for the corner to get the bonus point. Clearly that isn't going to change overall standings but how many times have the bigger countries taken 3 points near the death or maybe taken their foot off the gas if they had already scored two tries and a penalty or two before half time?
  8. Chick "Hasn't he retired?" Young doing his usual today, describing a mazy dribble past four players and a clipped finish past the keeper as a "tap in" in the Buckie Thistle v Dunfermline game. He was probably raging he was sent to report on a cup game at this early stage.
  9. I'm glad they pointed that out tbf There are so many Lescotts out there that I may have thought it was the former Everton defender, the ex-England internationalist or the former Aston Villa captain that they were talking about.
  10. I take it the ground is pretty hemmed in. Is MTK one of those Budapest clubs that are closer to another than Dundee and Dundee Utd?
  11. That will be the corner between the old covered end and the old Main Stand maybe? The roof didn't cover the whole terrace and was there not a time when the roof got replaced?
  12. I bought Ajax tickets though them - the first time the ticket seller didn't send the link to me in time (they were e-tickets you printed yourself) but viagogo refunded me the full amount. I then spent the refund on another ticket from another seller and the guy sent me them within an hour of the money coming off my card. Paid over the odds (about €40 for a €29 ticket) but I was in the 'Dam with the missus and wanted to see a game there while she did touristy things.
  13. I quite like Forthbank - the little terracing gives an option for standing when that section is open, the views over to the hills and Wallace Monument are lovely and despite being an out of town ground it's not that far away from the centre if you come by public transport to make it impossible to get to. Balmoor on the other hand, I'm not such a fan of I'm afraid. It's fine enough and the stands are decent but the lack of any steps at all on the 'terracing' is what makes it so bad. If there's any crowd at all you have to try to squeeze in between people to get a view of the pitch and being at pitch level isn't a great view anyway. There are plenty of junior grounds that at least have 2 or 3 rows of actual terracing so for a new build to have nothing, I was a bit disappointed. Sorry Blue Toon fans. At least the catering is excellent!
  14. It looked like Burke was the sub warming up when the winger took that head knock early doors too? If it was, it just highlights that they trust him to come on even after only 10 minutes or and that the only reason he's not starting games is that they are in such good form already.
  15. I was sat on those covered benches for the famous Dunfermline v Airdrie "Handball" League Cup semi final in 1991. It was actually a good enough view despite the shallow rake and there was a cracking atmosphere, helped by the big crowd, the importance of the game and the rivalry that existed between Airdrie and Dunfermline (and a lot of other clubs IIRC) at the time.
  16. I was also at the Wales game at Old Anniesland IIRC - it was the one where if we won we qualified for the World Cup? Iestyn Harris was playing for Wales I think and we had a few Scots who were actually Scots playing (mostly students) and still won. I was at Murrayfield Magic too which was good day out but they should have done more to promote the game off the back of it. I tried to go to a Fife Lions game not long after and trying to find out when and where the game was being played was almost impossible. I can only assume the scheduled kick off time last night was to suit New Zealand and Australian TV as it certainly didn't suit anyone who would want to watch it in the Northern Hemisphere (France were also playing in a qualifier last night).
  17. I always found it strange that Wembley has that half-arsed retractable roof that doesn't cover the pitch. What a waste.
  18. Is this just a Championship and below thing? There have been threads about Jim McIntyre and Paul Hartley possibly losing their jobs in the Premiership section for ages.
  19. The Napoli v Lazio game was decent for a 1-1, with both goals scored within 90 seconds of each other. Napoli had plenty of the ball and Hamsik was excellent but they miss a striker. It's a shame Milik got injured. Are there no late games tonight? I see BT are showing a game now, one at 2ish then one at 5 but is there a 7.45 game as normal too? If there is that's the lot of Serie A for one day.
  20. Is it just me or do those Vodafone adverts boasting about their network coverage not make it look like you've got to walk to the top of a pile of stuff and hold your phone above your head just to get one bar of signal?
  21. Is he the guy who was at Lazio not too long ago? Did he do well there?
  22. Who is going to end up in the Inter job then? Is Guidalin a big enough name? Is Bielsa available?
  23. Pat Bonner really struggling to understand Willie Miller, Derek McInnes and Richard Gordon all explain why Aberdeen's tactic nearly worked was excruciating to listen to.
